00:05We're running the Young Drivers Expo in Tenworth over the next four days,
00:11Tuesday through to Friday.
00:13The aim of the Expo is to try and educate young school leavers
00:18that are getting their driver's licence and P-plate licence
00:22into safe driving practices, avoiding distractions.
00:26And we've got some demonstrations and seminars
00:30to give them the knowledge and the information to help them make better decisions.
00:35Car accidents can be a scary thing,
00:36but that's why it's important to take the time to come to expos like these
00:40to learn what to do when it could happen and how to handle it.
00:44It's really beneficial that we get these opportunities
00:46and that we get people to take their time out of their day
00:50to come and teach us what to do when we are in scary situations like car accidents.
00:56Every serious injury or fatal collision that I've been to, I remember like it was yesterday.
01:02It's not something that you ever forget.
01:04It's not something that you like to relive.
01:09But if anything that we see can help us in promoting better behaviour
01:15by telling people what the consequences of their actions are,
01:19then what we do every day will help.
01:22These kids are here, they're new kids on the block with a driver's licence.
01:27The industry's changing, it's getting bigger and we're just trying to show these kids
01:33what they've got to face as they're starting off in their driving career.
01:37This is what's going to be on the road and we need their help.
01:41If we can explain to them how to help us, then we can help them.
01:44Slow down, take your time, stay off your phone, pay attention,
01:49try and get rid of those distractions and just be safe out there.
