00:00Daily Devotional, August 25th, A Peace That Keeps You Steady.
00:06Today's scripture, Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing causes them to stumble.
00:14Psalm 119, 165.
00:17There are many things in life that can disturb our peace.
00:21A difficult conversation, an unexpected bill, uncertainty about tomorrow, problems within our families,
00:30or simply the weight of everything happening around us can leave our minds restless.
00:37But Psalm 119, 165 points us toward a different kind of peace.
00:44It says, Great peace have those who love your law.
00:48Notice that scripture doesn't say, Great peace belongs to those who have no problems.
00:54It doesn't say, Peace belongs to those whose lives always go according to plan.
01:00It says, Great peace belongs to those who love God's Word.
01:05The peace God gives isn't dependent upon everything around us being peaceful.
01:10We can have peace while we're waiting.
01:13We can have peace while we're facing uncertainty.
01:17We can have peace when circumstances haven't changed yet.
01:22Why?
01:23Because when we love God's Word, our confidence becomes rooted in something stronger than our circumstances.
01:31God's Word reminds us who God is when fear tells us otherwise.
01:37It reminds us of His faithfulness when circumstances make us question.
01:42It reminds us of His promises when our emotions begin pulling us in another direction.
01:49The more deeply God's truth becomes rooted within us,
01:53the less easily the circumstances around us can control the condition of our hearts.
01:59Loving God's Word involves more than simply owning a Bible or occasionally reading a verse.
02:14When we truly love God's Word, we begin allowing it to shape the way we live.
02:20His Word guides our decisions.
02:22His Word corrects us when we're wrong.
02:25His Word teaches us how to forgive, how to love, how to resist temptation, and how to trust God when
02:33we don't understand what He's doing.
02:36Sometimes, Scripture will comfort us.
02:40Other times, it will challenge us.
02:43But both are evidence of God's love because He doesn't simply want us to feel better.
02:51He wants us to become more like Christ.
02:54The second half of Psalm 119, 165 says,
02:59And nothing causes them to stumble.
03:03This doesn't mean believers will never experience difficulties, temptation, disappointment, or failure.
03:10It means that a life anchored in God's truth has something solid beneath it.
03:16Imagine walking along an unfamiliar path in darkness.
03:20Every stone and uneven place becomes dangerous because you cannot see where you're stepping.
03:28But when light shines on the path, you can recognize what is ahead and choose your steps carefully.
03:36God's Word does something similar in our lives.
03:40Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
03:44Psalm 119, 105
03:48God's Word helps us recognize temptation before we walk into it.
03:52It exposes lies before we believe them.
03:55It gives us wisdom when we're uncertain and direction when we don't know which way to go.
04:02We may stumble occasionally, but God's truth keeps calling us back to the right path.
04:08So, today's encouragement, whatever is trying to steal your peace today, bring your heart back to God's Word.
04:16Before allowing fear to tell you what might happen, remind yourself of what God has already said.
04:24Before letting circumstances determine whether you have peace, remember that your peace comes from knowing the One who holds your
04:32life in His hands.
04:34Open your Bible today.
04:36Not simply because it's something Christians are supposed to do,
04:40But because within God's Word, you will discover truth that can steady your heart, guide your steps, and draw you
04:50closer to Jesus.
04:52Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me Your Word to guide my life.
04:57There are times when circumstances around me make it difficult to feel peaceful.
05:03But help me remember that true peace doesn't come from having a trouble-free life.
05:09It comes from trusting You.
05:13Give me a deeper love for Your Word and a desire not only to read it, but to live according
05:20to it.
05:21When fear fills my thoughts, remind me of Your promises.
05:27When temptation comes, help me stand firmly upon Your truth.
05:33When I don't know which direction to take, let Your Word be a lamp to my feet and a light
05:40to my path.
05:42Keep my heart close to You and my steps steady as I follow Jesus.
05:48In Jesus' name, Amen.
05:51What situation is disturbing your peace today?
05:54And what truth from God's Word can you hold on to instead of allowing that situation to control your heart?

06:07When your heart is anchored in God's Word, your circumstances may shake around you,
06:13but they don't have to shake the peace God has placed within you.
