00:00Australia and Indonesia are moving to deepen their security ties.
00:05The two countries are holding their first high-level talks since signing a landmark
00:10security treaty earlier this year, a deal that commits both sides to closer cooperation
00:15in responding to shared security challenges.
00:20The talks are expected to cover defense and security cooperation along with economic and
00:26development issues.
00:27The meeting comes six months after Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Indonesian
00:32President Prabowo Subianto signed the Australia-Indonesia Treaty on Common Security, also known as the
00:38Jakarta Treaty.
00:39The deal means the two countries will consult more closely and support each other in the
00:44face of serious security threats.
00:47It also expands military cooperation, including joint defense training in Indonesia, the deployment
00:53of senior Indonesian military officers to Australia and greater exchanges in military education.
