00:00Let's compare Android 17 versus iOS 27 and see who copied who, who did it better, and which update actually

00:05feels like the bigger deal.

00:07Let's kick things off with the biggest features that stood out to me the most.

00:10First off, both operating systems just got a whole lot smarter and just more useful overall.

00:14On Android 17, you'll actually be able to create custom widgets just by describing what you want.

00:20So you could say something like, make me a widget that tracks deals on the website, or show me events

00:25happening near me,

00:26and Gemini will actually try to build that widget for your home screen.

00:29It'll be insane.

00:30But then iOS 27 is doing something just as cool.

00:33You can now describe a shortcut that you want, and your iPhone will build it for you.

00:36So you could say, create a shortcut that cleans up all the screenshots I took this entire week, and it'll

00:42do that.

00:42Or another cool idea is you can say, make one that checks my contact's birthday,

00:46and automatically send me a notification when that day arrives, so I know.

00:51And honestly, it worked like a charm.

00:52It would have been super complicated to make those shortcuts if I just did it manually.

00:57But with this AI, it was super seamless.

00:58The possibilities are really endless.

01:01And then another useful feature on iOS 27 is bill splitting.

01:04If you're out having dinner with friends, and then the bill comes,

01:07you can just scan it with your iPhone camera, and it'll give you an easy way to split everything.

01:12And then you can pick which items are yours without any hassle.

01:15Even better too, you can just share it with your friends through iMessage on that group chat,

01:19and everyone can just pay their part right there with Apple Cash.

01:22It's really smooth.

01:23And yeah, I do know that Gemini can also scan receipts and maybe split them too,

01:27but it definitely doesn't go that far.

01:30Now on the Android side, I'm really glad that we're finally getting full screen widgets on the lock screen again.

01:35Kind of like the old days.

01:36Don't get me wrong, the mini widgets on iOS are nice, but this is a whole other level.

01:40I can just swipe right on my lock screen and boom, there's a full list of my favorite widgets.

01:45I've got one for my calendar, one to track my Amazon packages, another for smart home controls, and a few

01:51more.

01:51It's really great.

01:52Then on iOS, I really like that the update is Spotlight Search.

01:56So now you can simply swipe down from the center of the dynamic island,

01:59and this floating search interface pops up with Siri and Spotlight built right in.

02:04It makes jumping between apps, finding files, or launching pretty much anything just feel a lot faster

02:09without needing to go back to the home screen.

02:12It's honestly something that I wish stock Android had,

02:14although there are third-party apps out there that can get pretty close.

02:18I also still think Apple's control center is just better than what you get on most Android phones,

02:22and iOS 27 just makes it even nicer.

02:25For example, you can tap on the timer tile,

02:27and it opens up this clean floating panel with a slider so you can quickly set a timer without opening

02:32the clock app.

02:33Plus, several controls cannot be resized even further.

02:36I mean, things like the connectivity controls and the focus tile are just a lot more expandable.

02:41Honestly, Apple's control center has just become so good over the years that it's no surprise

02:45that a lot of Android manufacturers have copied many of the same ideas.

02:49But then we flip the script, and here's something iOS really needs to steal from Android.

02:54It's basically these new bubbles feature in Android 17.

02:57There are these floating app windows that stay on top of your screen.

02:59We've had something like this before, but it was mostly just for messaging apps.

03:03Now, you can use it with almost any app.

03:05You just long press on an app on the home screen, hit bubble, and it floats around for quick access.

03:11You can even stack multiple apps together, too.

03:13It just takes multitasking to a whole new level.

03:16And since iOS doesn't support third-party apps displaying floating windows at all,

03:20there's really no way to just recreate this on this device.

03:23Another area where Android still wins is dark mode.

03:26Android 17 can now force dark mode on apps that don't even officially support it, like Amazon.

03:30It isn't perfect by any means, but I still like it because it's easier to use at night on your

03:34eyes.

03:35And the nice part is that you can choose which apps get forced into dark mode instead of applying it

03:40system-wide.

03:41When it comes to screen recording, iOS used to be the better option that I liked,

03:44but I'd say Google has taken the crown now because there's this one new Android 17 feature called Screen Reactions.

03:51Basically, you can record yourself with the front camera, and it automatically cuts you out from the background,

03:55like you've got a built-in green screen.

03:57Then you can react live to anything on your screen, and you can even move yourself around, too.

04:01It's amazing for short-form stuff like TikTok or YouTube Shorts,

04:04or even if you're just trying to explain something to someone else.

04:07Google is also going to introduce something called Pause Point,

04:10which is designed to just help cut down those distracting apps.

04:14So if you mark an app as distracting and try to open it,

04:17Android will basically stop you for a few seconds and suggest something healthier instead.

04:21Like, it might suggest doing a breathing exercise, maybe reading an e-book instead,

04:26or simply ask if you want to set a time limit of 5 to 30 minutes.

04:30I really like it because it just encourages healthier habits without actually locking you out of the app.

04:35And one thing that I'm really happy to see is that Android and iPhone are just playing a lot nicer

04:39with each other.

04:40For instance, with iOS 27,

04:42AirDrop can now share entire photo albums with Android phones and even Windows PCs.

04:48And on top of that, Apple also improved RCS messaging quite a bit.

04:51iPhone users will not be able to reply to specific messages when texting Android users,

04:56and they can do emoji reactions on photos and videos being displayed properly on both ends.

05:01It's definitely a step in the right direction,

05:03and hopefully this is the beginning of Android and iPhone working together a whole lot better.

05:08Now, both of these updates also bring a ton of new AI features,

05:11and honestly, a lot of them I've been constantly using.

05:14What's funny, though, is that each platform has AI features that I wish that the other one had.

05:18For one, I love that both OSes are getting way more context-aware.

05:22Like when someone texts you asking for those photos from that trip that you guys took,

05:25both Android and iOS can recognize what you're talking about

05:28and suggest the exact photos, calendar events, or information that you need right there inside the conversation.

05:34So instead of digging through your phone, it's already there waiting for you.

05:38And the same thing happens too during phone calls.

05:40I mean, let's say you're talking to an airline about changing a flight.

05:43Your phone can automatically pull up flight information so you don't have to search for it while you're on a

05:48call.

05:48So it's definitely awesome to see it on both sides.

05:50iOS is going to rule this out to every iPhone user,

05:53but on the Android side, it's still limited to just a few phones like the latest Google Pixels or Samsung

05:58devices.

05:59Another feature that I really like on iOS is called Extend.

06:02When you're setting a wallpaper in the lock screen, you can now simply pinch outward and tap on Extend.

06:08And then Apple Intelligence will just generate more of the image beyond its original borders.

06:13It's pretty awesome and it actually works relatively well.

06:16Now, it's not exactly something that we haven't seen before in the AI world,

06:19but the way it's integrated into the OS is super smart because normal everyday people, including myself,

06:25will actually be able to use it a lot more frequently.

06:27There's also an iOS 27 feature called Reframe and this one is honestly pretty impressive.

06:33While you're editing a photo, you can completely change the angle or just the composition

06:36and Apple Intelligence will regenerate the image from that new perspective.

06:42It almost feels like you took the photo from a different angle.

06:44Now, some Android phones like the latest Google Pixels have something similar called Auto Frame

06:48where you can just reframe stuff,

06:50but Apple's version just gives you a lot more control over the final result.

06:54It's definitely not as cool as well.

06:55I was also really impressed by Safari's new Notify Me feature.

06:59You can just keep track of pretty much anything on any website.

07:03Sure, Chrome already lets you track price drops on certain websites,

07:06but Safari takes things even further.

07:08You can tell it exactly what you want to watch out for, for almost any website.

07:12Maybe it's a shoe size that's out of stock,

07:14but you're going to want it to check frequently to see if it comes back.

07:17Or even something super specific like notifying you whenever a website posts a specific type of article.

07:23You can get really specific, and Safari even gives you the option to check daily, weekly, or monthly, whatever you

07:29choose.

07:29Even cooler than that, you can also create custom extensions.

07:32You can just tell Safari inside there to describe an extension.

07:36I made one so that way it could automatically make all websites dark, and it did it.

07:41That one is honestly really cool.

07:42iOS also launched its own AI wallpaper generation right inside the wallpaper picker.

07:48You just describe what you want, and your iPhone will create it.

07:52Android users have had this for years though,

07:54but it's still nice to have that extra bit of customization on the iOS side.

07:58Now over on the Android side, Google added some really smart AI features too.

08:02For instance, filling out forms on websites or apps is about to get a whole lot easier,

08:06because Google is swapping in Gemini for its Autofill service.

08:09Now Autofill has existed on Android for years, but with Gemini integrated,

08:14it'll be able to dig deeper into your apps and data and pull things out like passport details,

08:19license info, addresses, and other personal information

08:22that you otherwise would have had to dig through when you're filling out forms.

08:26It's going to be way more powerful than before,

08:28and it's going to be a lot more powerful than what iOS offers.

08:31There's also Rambler, which I'm genuinely pumped for.

08:34Basically, Google is replacing the old Gboard voice typing system with Gemini.

08:38So instead of speaking like a robot and just hoping your phone understands you,

08:42you can talk naturally to it.

08:44You can pause, change your sentence halfway through, or mess up,

08:47and Rambler will essentially clean that all up.

08:50It even supports multiple languages in the same message too.

08:53So say you speak Spanglish, or you just bounce between languages mid-sentence,

08:58it should still be able to keep up.

08:59It sounds pretty incredible.

09:01And on iOS, they do have a great voice typing feature as well,

09:04but it's not at this level.

09:06Google is also making Android's ecosystem a lot better with a feature called Continue On.

09:10It's basically Android's version of Apple's handoff feature.

09:14So if you're working on something on your phone,

09:16and then you go pick up your tablet instead,

09:18Android can automatically suggest opening that same app

09:20so you can continue where you left off.

09:22And if that second device doesn't even have the app installed,

09:26Android can still sometimes launch the web version instead,

09:29which is a really nice idea.

09:30And I will say, even though iOS brought some major improvements to its AI,

09:34the biggest reason that I think Android is still far ahead

09:37is because Google just keeps releasing these mind-blowing features

09:41that none of us would have really expected.

09:43This new one called Gemini Spark is exactly that.

09:46It's basically raised the bar.

09:47You can tell your phone to do something,

09:49and it'll literally take over the screen and do it for you.

09:53Like you can tell Gemini to book you an Uber to the airport,

09:55and it'll open the app, type in the address,

09:58choose the correct airline,

10:00and once it's done, it'll notify you to confirm the ride.

10:03All without you needing to lift a single finger.

10:06And that's just one example.

10:07You can tell it to book you concert tickets,

10:09or maybe you're driving home,

10:11you can just tell it to order you tacos from DoorDash.

10:13That's going to be insanely great.

10:15Now, before moving on,

10:16lately I've had a bit of a problem.

10:18No matter how much I brushed,

10:19even with my electric toothbrush,

10:21my teeth just never felt quite as clean as they did

10:24after a visit to the dentist.

11:20So you can technically have

11:22over 1,200 possible brushing combinations.

11:24It even has a smart pressure sensor too

11:26that can tell you if you're brushing too hard

11:28and automatically adjust to help protect your gums.

11:31And probably my favorite thing about the Way Pro

11:33is how you can charge it

11:34because it comes with a magnetic wireless charger

11:36that lets you just toss it on there

11:37and it charges right away.

11:40It's genius.

11:40And the battery life is kind of insane too.

11:42A single charge can last up to 70 days.

11:45It's also fully waterproof too,

11:46so you can even use it in the shower.

11:48And when it comes to shaving,

11:49I also love using Leifin's P3 Pro electric shaver.

11:54It's super compact, which is great for travel,

11:57but surprisingly powerful too

12:16Like I said, Apple is finally making the iPhone

12:18feel a lot more intelligent

12:19and it does have some really clever tricks

12:21that Android just doesn't have.

12:23But I wouldn't say that it's caught up to Android just yet.

12:25Gemini is just way more powerful and feature-packed.

12:28It's crazy too,

12:29because both platforms just revamped

12:30their entire AI assistants as well.

12:32On iOS 27, Siri got a brand new look.

12:35It's got a dark glass pill-shaped UI

12:37that pops up straight out of the dynamic island.

12:41Meanwhile, Gemini is getting these glowy, smoky animations

12:43that make it feel way more alive.

12:45Both of them look really nice in my opinion.

12:48The bigger change though,

12:49is how deeply they're integrated

12:50into each operating system.

12:52On Android, Gemini is pretty much everywhere now.

12:54It's built into the OS itself

12:56and woven throughout a ton of Google apps

12:57that Google's calling Gemini Intelligence.

13:00I mean, apps like Gmail and Google Keep

13:02even have Gemini Live built right in.

13:05So instead of digging through menus

13:06or searching for things manually,

13:08you can literally just have entire conversations

13:11with the app.

13:11Apple is also integrating Apple Intelligence

13:13throughout iOS as well,

13:15but it's taking a slightly different approach.

13:18Instead of dropping a full AI assistant into every app

13:21and making sure that you know that it's an AI feature,

13:24they're doing it very subtly.

13:25So you will find it helping generate Safari extensions,

13:28extending wallpapers from the lock screen

13:30and powering little tools throughout the system

13:33without there being any indication that AI is running.

13:37It feels more like regular features that are working

13:39rather than an AI assistant that's living inside every app.

13:44Plus, Apple's voice assistant, Siri AI,

13:46is a whole lot better and a lot smarter now too.

13:49You can have entire conversations with it

13:50just like Gemini Live.

13:52You can also customize its voice

13:53and adjust the tone and pace

13:54to better suit your preferences, which is really nice.

13:57Where I think Apple falls a bit behind though

13:59is with the visual aspect.

14:01I mean, sure, Siri can now actually analyze photos

14:04and answer questions about what you're looking at

14:07and even generate images, including people from your contacts,

14:10but Gemini does all that and simply takes it further.

14:14I mean, it can generate full videos

14:16from photos in your gallery.

14:17It can create music inspired by your pictures.

14:23It can give you a personalized daily brief

14:26with everything important happening in your life

14:28and of course, it can even use Gemini Live

14:30with your video camera

14:31so you can point in at something

14:33and just ask questions in real time.

14:36That's on a whole other level, far superior than Siri.

14:39And by the way, I saw a lot of people saying

14:40that Siri is only better now

14:42because it's running Gemini in the background.

14:44That's not entirely true.

14:46You see, while Apple did partner up with Google,

14:48they didn't exactly use any of their assistant services

14:51or AI infrastructures,

14:53Gemini isn't secretly sitting in the background

14:55answering questions for you.

14:57Instead, Siri is still using Apple's own foundation models

15:00and what Google actually contributed

15:02was helping train those models

15:04using reinforcement learning and outputs

15:06generated from Gemini.

15:08So in simple terms,

15:09Google just helped Apple make Siri smarter,

15:11but Google isn't actually running Siri behind the scenes.

15:14And honestly, I don't really have a problem with that

15:16since we'll all benefit from it.

15:18Finally, let's go over some minor changes

15:20that I appreciate having in both platforms.

15:22Starting with iOS,

15:23I love that they added a slider

15:25to let you quickly adjust the intensity

15:26of the liquid glass.

15:28That's definitely a nice addition

15:29since I know some people really like liquid glass,

15:31but they also don't want it to be completely transparent

15:34where it makes it hard to read the text.

15:36So now you can adjust it properly.

15:38iOS also supports extra large widgets too

15:40that just take up the entire page of the home screen.

15:42You can even stack them too, which is really nice.

15:44The lock screen clock on iOS can now be toggled

15:47to be extremely tiny, just like the status bar.

15:49That's going to be great for people

15:50who just want their wallpaper to be the main focus.

15:53I definitely wish that Android would implement this as well.

15:55Also, a ton more apps on iOS now support landscape mode,

15:58including the weather, health, find my,

16:02reminders, shortcuts, and more.

16:04It's kind of crazy.

16:05I just can't believe landscape mode wasn't supported

16:07for all of these apps in the first place,

16:09but I guess better late than ever.

16:11iOS 27 also separates volume sliders for ringtone,

16:14alarms, and timers, alerts, and system sounds

16:17in the settings.

16:18Now, over on Android, there are a few nice additions too.

16:21Whenever an app tries to access your location,

16:23you'll now see a small indicator dot

16:25at the top right of the screen.

16:27So that way you know that they're trying to access it.

16:29And if you tap it,

16:30you can see which app is trying to track you.

16:32It's just like when apps try to use your camera

16:34or your microphone.

16:35There's also a new contacts picker menu.

16:37So when an app asks for your contacts,

16:39you can choose which specific ones it gets.

16:42Just like how on iOS, it lets you do this.

16:44Android's screensaver is also getting a new low light mode.

16:47So during the day,

16:48you can keep your normal screensaver

16:49like photo slideshows or smart home controls.

16:52But once your room gets dark,

16:54it'll automatically switch to a super dim clock

16:56that's easier on your eyes at night.

16:58And then there's now a dedicated satellite tile

17:01that quickly takes you

17:02to the satellite connectivity settings.

17:04And there you have it.

17:05Android 17 versus iOS 27.

17:07There's honestly a ton more features

17:09and little changes packed into both these updates.

17:11But I wanted to focus on the biggest ones.

17:14Otherwise, we'd literally be here all day.

17:16And I actually did make videos

17:21So after looking at everything,

17:23who actually had the better update this time around?

17:25Personally, I'd have to give it to Android 17.

17:28I mean, don't get me wrong.

17:29iOS 27 is a huge step forward.

17:32Siri finally feels like the assistant

17:33Apple promised years ago.

17:35The new Dynamic Island interface looks great.

17:38Spotlight search is a lot more powerful.

17:40On-screen awareness is generally useful.

17:42And there are tons of thoughtful quality-of-life improvements

17:45throughout the OS.

17:46But to me, Android 17 still feels like the bigger leap.

17:49Google isn't improving existing features.

17:51It's introducing entire new ways to use your phone.

17:54I mean, just take Gemini Spark.

17:56You can literally just tell apps

17:57what you want to do

17:59and they'll take over the screen

18:00and control them and complete the task for you.

18:03You also have Create My Widgets,

18:04which lets you generate custom widgets with AI.

18:07Rambler will make voice typing

18:09feel dramatically more natural.

18:11Gemini Autofill would just take the pain

18:12out of filling out forms.

18:14And that's all on top of the AI features

18:16that Android already had

18:17that iOS is still working toward.

18:19That's just my opinion, though.
