00:00In August 2015, 20-year-old Jody Myers disappeared in South Australia.
00:05She was engaged to Neil Archer and was the mother of his young son.
00:09But Jody wasn't missing, she had been murdered by Neil, who strangled her with the cord of a hoodie.
00:14Why did he kill her?
00:17Prosecutors said Neil was controlling and abusive, and believed Jody's family was trying to break them apart.
00:22His possessiveness ultimately turned deadly.
00:25Then came the shocking cover-up.
00:28Neil's mother, Margaret Archer, helped hide Jody's body beneath a concrete slab inside a shed.
00:34She bought cement in a wheelbarrow, used Jody's bank card to withdraw $250,
00:39and even sent messages from Jody's phone to make her family believe she was alive.
00:44Meanwhile, Jody's young son was left wondering where his mother was.
00:48Jody's body was eventually discovered, and Margaret pleaded guilty to helping her son avoid arrest.
00:54In 2018, she was sentenced to up to six and a half years in prison.
00:58A controlling relationship had ended in murder, and then a mother helped hide the truth from her own grandchild.
