00:00On September 4, 2023, photographer Joe Shymansky was supposed to meet his two young children at
00:05his home in Calvert County, Maryland. But when his ex-wife, Heather Snyder, arrived for the
00:11child handoff, Joe was nowhere to be found. His car, phone, and keys were still inside the house.
00:18The next morning, investigators discovered blood in the driveway, turning the missing
00:22person case into a murder investigation. Police soon focused on Brandon Holbrook,
00:27Snyder's former boyfriend. A license plate camera had captured Holbrook's truck near Joe's home on
00:33the day he disappeared. When investigators searched Holbrook's Pennsylvania property,
00:38they found cleaning supplies, plastic sheeting, tools, and other suspicious evidence. Cadaver
00:44dogs later led police into nearby woods, where they discovered human remains. The remains were
00:50identified as Joe. His cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head. Prosecutors said Holbrook
00:56killed Joe in Maryland, transported his body to Pennsylvania, and tried to destroy the evidence.
01:02On March 31, 2025, Holbrook went on trial. After just 80 minutes of deliberation, the jury found him
01:09guilty of first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole. But one question
01:15still remains, did Holbrook act alone?
