Look at your nails right now.

Most nail changes are harmless. But some changes are worth showing your doctor, especially when they are new, sudden, or affecting several nails.

In this video, Dr. Michael Hayes explains 7 nail warning signs doctors pay attention to after 50, including:

• Yellow or unusually discolored nails
• Blue or gray nail changes
• A new dark stripe on one nail
• Spoon-shaped nails
• Rounded or clubbed fingertips
• New ridges, grooves, or nail pitting
• Brittle, peeling, or crumbling nails

You'll also learn a simple 5-minute weekly nail check using good lighting, nail shape, color, surface, and changes in your toenails.

Important: Nail changes are clues, not diagnoses. Many different conditions can cause similar nail changes, and a proper medical evaluation is needed to determine the cause.

This video is for general educational purposes only and does not replace personalized medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you notice a concerning nail change, speak with a qualified healthcare professional.
