00:02The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has cleared Roche and Eli Lilly's blood tests
00:07to help identify signs of Alzheimer's disease in people age 55 and older with cognitive decline,
00:14according to Reuters. The Alexei's P-Tau-217 test measures a biomarker associated with
00:20Alzheimer's-related brain changes and can help doctors determine which patients are more or
00:25less likely to have the disease. Roche said the test can run on more than 4,500 of its laboratory
00:32analyzers already installed across the U.S., while LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics plan to offer it
00:38through their laboratory networks. The test could provide a simpler alternative to PET scans and
00:44cerebrospinal fluid testing, which can be costly, invasive, and less widely available. Roche said
00:50Alexis P-Tau-217 is not intended as a standalone diagnostic and should be used alongside
00:56other clinical information. For all things money, visit Benzinga.com.
