National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing to discuss India-China border issues and review peace efforts along the Line of Actual Control. The engagement comes ahead of the upcoming BRICS Summit in India, where Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to attend. During the visit, NSA Doval also met Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and reviewed the early harvest procedures under the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination process. The Indian side emphasized that maintaining peace and tranquility along the LAC is paramount for the betterment of bilateral ties.

00:05But the big story that we are breaking right at the very top, National Security Advisor
00:09Agir Doval has held an important meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister in Beijing.
00:15The key Doval-Wangi meeting that's taken place in Beijing has discussed India-China border
00:22talks and comes of course just ahead of the BRICS summit where Chinese President Xi is
00:29expected to visit India. Though China has not yet confirmed his participation in the summit,
00:35officials on both sides are optimistic that the Chinese President will come to India. His first
00:42visit here since, remember, tensions were there in the border and that was in 2020 when there was
00:49the Galwan face-off. Both sides apparently talking about how to renew peace efforts along the border.
00:57Joining me now, Pranay Upadhyay, who tracks external affairs for us. Pranay, what do we know of this
01:04meeting and particularly of its significance ahead of that big BRICS summit meeting in a couple of weeks?
01:11Absolutely, Razdeep. This is a very important engagement between the SRO special representatives
01:17of India and China. The meeting took place in Beijing for which India's NSA Agir Doval traveled
01:22to Beijing. And in fact, this meeting is, has come at a very particular time because A, after the
01:29setting up of the special working mechanism to have an early harvest on boundary resolution issue,
01:34this meeting is important because this was decided in New Delhi during the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister
01:40Wang Yi in August 2025. A special working mechanism was set up under the part of, as part of the
01:47WMCC.
01:48And after that, this is the first review meeting of the WMCC process and to review the early harvest
01:53procedures. Besides that, as you also mentioned that the Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected
01:58to visit India for the BRICS summit, which is likely to, which is scheduled in September on 12th and 13th.
02:05And before that, you know, the preparatory round of engagement are going on between India and China
02:10and for which the National Security Advisor is also having meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister
02:18Wang Yi, as well as he had meeting with the Chinese Vice President Han Jiang. So in all these terms,
02:23this is important. And besides that, the viewpoint conveyed by the Indian side is that the peace and
02:29tranquility is paramount to be maintained alongside the line of actual control before, you know, which is
02:35paramount for the for the betterment of India-China ties for joining us with those details on that Doval
