KLANG: Five men have been arrested over an armed rioting incident that left two people injured at an eatery in Pandamaran.
South Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Lim Jit Huey said the five suspects, aged between 18 and 25, were arrested yesterday following investigations into the incident.
"The incident occurred at 11.30pm on Aug 22 at an eatery along Jalan Chan Ah Choo, Pandamaran.
"Two men, aged 22 and 26, were assaulted by several suspects.
"The victims suffered injuries to their faces and noses and received outpatient treatment at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital," he said in a statement today.
Lim said the motive behind the incident is still under investigation.
He said the five suspects were brought before the Klang magistrates' court today, where police obtained a three-day remand order until Aug 26 to facilitate investigations.
"The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting while armed, which carries a jail term of up to five years, a fine, or both upon conviction," he said.
