PETALING JAYA: A motorcyclist was killed after a car veered into the opposite lane and crashed into his motorcycle at Jalan 17/21, here, this afternoon.
Police said a man in his 70s lost control of the Proton X70 he was driving and hit the motorcycle ridden by a man in his 20s, who died at the scene from severe injuries.
Petaling Jaya police chief Shamsudin Mamat said the driver was unhurt in the 1.45pm incident.
He was brought to the Petaling Jaya police headquarters, and tested negative for drugs and alcohol.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

The offence carries a jail term of five to 10 years, a fine of RM20,000 to RM50,000, and mandatory licence disqualification for at least five years.
Police urged witnesses to contact the nearest police station or investigating officer Mohd Sivam @ Siva Muniandy at 03-7966 2222.
