00:00Welcome to a new episode of the Kwan program, the Wasaid and 20 program.
00:07Today we are in the year 2026 and today is the first day of spring.
00:16It seems that the United States of America is heading toward a new disaster.
00:22I mean, we can't ignore the level of the disaster, the disaster itself,
00:26but there is something very serious and important happening in the United States of America.
00:33This is not according to Dr. Ahmad al-Jara'ah,
00:37but according to the statements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration,
00:43which called for a swift recall and demanded that it be implemented immediately.
00:51And they recalled more than 19 million eggs from the market,
00:57called for all parties to cooperate, for the authorities to cooperate,
01:02to recall 19 million eggs from the market.
01:06So what's up with the eggs? What's wrong with the eggs?
01:09And what's the story with the eggs?
01:11Surely it's not because of adding something good or a story with the eggs?
01:15No, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said,
01:18guys, these eggs are contaminated.
01:21So first of all, contaminated with what?
01:2319 million eggs in America are contaminated, unfortunately.
01:28Yes, apparently these eggs are contaminated with salmonella bacteria.
01:36So the U.S. Food and Drug Administration had to order, direct,
01:41and issue a decision to recall these millions of eggs
01:46after the outbreak of salmonella bacteria,
01:49as dozens of people have already been infected in at least 17 American states.
01:56The current number is between 100 and 150.
02:00There are reports saying that 200 people have been infected with this bacteria so far.
02:07And there are at least 20 or 30 people now,
02:11some of whom have been admitted to hospitals for treatment after the outbreak
02:15or after the disease started to become serious for them.
02:19Right?
02:20And apparently, according to the initial information,
02:24these eggs contaminated with salmonella bacteria did not come from outside the United States.
02:30You know, in the last year, in the recent months,
02:35America has been importing eggs, but not these eggs.
02:39It is from a purely American source.
02:42And it turns out these eggs are produced in the state of Texas,
02:45from Texas farms, which produce in very large quantities.
02:49They are sold under several brand names, not just one brand.
02:53Many companies take them, and they resell them at retail,
02:57but definitely, as we said, all of them are American.
03:03And the company that produces the poultry is a poultry producer.
03:10The Food and Drug Administration said it is recalling the packages.
03:15The agency has recalled all the packages.
03:21All of the expiration date is from July 20 to August 17,
03:26meaning from 7-20 to 8-70 August, all eggs produced.
03:33Or it has an expiration date, or is sold within this period,
03:37which is a duration of 17 days from July 20 to August 17.
03:41It poses a health risk due to the possibility of contamination
03:46with salmonella bacteria.
03:51The American authorities also are citizens in these 17 American states.
04:01At home, I mean, how to check the eggs you have.
04:05Eggs at home may show certain signs.
04:09Unfortunately, do not check the eggs you have at home,
04:12or anything related to the sell-by or expiration date.
04:17From July 20 to August 17, you should immediately dispose of these eggs.
04:24Or simply return them to the place of purchase,
04:29whether it's a supermarket or any store where you bought them.
04:33You return these eggs, and you get a refund,
04:36because this is something that's already the FDA has mandated this,
04:41and all stores or supermarkets are required to take the eggs back,
04:45because the risk is eliminated as soon as the eggs are returned.
04:53And you get your money back.
04:55There's no difference.
04:57Because unfortunately, eggs contaminated with salmonella
05:01may look completely normal,
05:03and there's no difference in their smell or even their appearance,
05:08inside or out.
05:10They don't look any different from regular eggs.
05:15Despite its ability to cause a serious infection,
05:20which is salmonella infection, unfortunately,
05:23especially the symptoms and the illness
05:26can be dangerous for young children and even the elderly.
05:31But the important thing is,
05:33are we talking about salmonella infection or the salmonella bacteria?
05:37What is it?
05:38Or what is the salmonella bacteria or this disease?
05:42Is it an infection in general?
05:44This is a disease and a bacterial infection
05:48that affects the digestive system,
05:51specifically the intestines, mainly.
05:54Unfortunately,
05:56it is considered one of the most common causes
06:00of food poisoning around the world.
06:03Of course,
06:04these bacteria spread in the intestines of humans and animals
06:10and usually come out with waste.
06:12The main ways these bacteria are transmitted
06:16are through eggs,
06:18poultry, meat, and eggs.
06:25In addition to unpasteurized milk and dairy products,
06:30as well as vegetables and fruits, too.
06:35Salmonella bacteria can also be transmitted
06:37by kitchen utensils and hands,
06:40meaning not washing your hands.
06:43That means not washing your hands well
06:47after handling raw meat
06:49or touching animals that carry this bacteria.
06:53Unfortunately,
06:54this helps transfer the bacteria to kitchen utensils.
06:57And from there to other people
06:59who unfortunately get this bacteria, too.
07:04The infection occurs as soon as the bacteria enter
07:08or infect the human body.
07:11The symptoms appear within six hours to six days
07:15and the main symptoms of infection
07:18with this dangerous bacteria
07:20include severe diarrhea.
07:25There may be blood with the diarrhea
07:28along with severe abdominal pain,
07:32high fever,
07:33as well as nausea and vomiting,
07:36in addition to weakness
07:37and dehydration in the body.
07:41Because unfortunately,
07:42the body is in a state of diarrhea
07:45and usually in many cases,
07:48especially in people with strong immunity,
07:50the body naturally resists
07:53and gets rid of these bacteria.
07:57But unfortunately for others,
08:00the symptoms become severe
08:02and they need immediate intervention
08:04by giving antibiotics
08:06and admitting them to the hospital.
08:09Yes,
08:10the most important thing
08:12is that we always make sure
08:13to cook meat well.
08:15Whether it's poultry or meat in general,
08:18it's very important
08:19to prevent many diseases.
08:21This was Abha del Dera'a,
08:23the host of the
08:24What's Happening program.
08:25Stay well.
