00:05And shifting focus down south, where a big organizational shake-up is expected to happen
00:10within the DMK, Stalin has announced that DMK is now undergoing an organizational rehaul.
00:17Acknowledging the party's role in the pole defeat in Tamil Nadu, Stalin has said that
00:22first we must acknowledge our mistakes.
00:24DMK is all set to introduce Asians, terms for key forces, what Stalin has said.
00:30He's also added that more responsibilities will be awarded to newcomers, such that there
00:36is a connect with the youth.
00:37DMK is all set to launch fresh membership drive soon.
00:41Stalin has called for honest and genuine membership process.
00:46DMK is all set to hold internal party polls at all levels.
00:50Stalin has said that those who are elected, not appointed, will perform better.
00:56And he's said that reforms are needed in and out to regain political success back for the DMK.
01:04Stalin has called for swift implementation of these reforms that they have come up with.
01:09Stalin has also said that no victory can be possible unless and until any party or organization
01:16is prepared for change and that is what the DMK will now do.
01:20The DMK chief, Stalin, who said that even one functionary's mistake can hurt the legacy
01:26of the 75-year-old party.
01:28And he said that there is a change in mindset that is now required before the party as restructuring
01:35is the need of the hour for the DMK.
01:38That's the announcement that has been made by Stalin as he sent out this message from top
01:43to bottom, not just within the DMK, but even across the state of Tamil Nadu.
01:47to invite the youth to be part of the party, to say that now it will be meritorious and
01:54those who are truly willing to bring about changes and have bright ideas will be part
02:00of the DMK as he's announced a big organizational shake-up to this effect.
02:05Let me take this to my colleague Anagha joining us on the broadcast.
02:08Anagha, admission of how they've lost and now working towards reinventing themselves.
02:13What's the plan really?
02:16Well, in fact, after the big rout that DMK suffered in the assembly elections, there was
02:21a major party overhaul that was collectively decided to be taken.
02:27In fact, it was the DMK IT wing that was specifically pulled up because many had alleged that the DMK
02:32IT
02:33wing had indulged in cyberbullying, trawling, abusing, harassment.
02:37For anybody who criticized DMK, there it was the DMK IT wing on social media to criticize
02:43and to bully those who were doing that.
02:45And therefore, after facing major backlash is when the DMK high command has now decided
02:50to restructure the whole organization to make sure that particularly the age limit and the
02:56terms of office is now reduced.
02:59So therefore, for a branch secretary, the age limit is now capped to 45 years.
03:05And that too, for all of the secretary positions, the maximum terms of office is now only for
03:10two years, only for two terms.
03:12Now, you know, that largely democratizes the process and makes sure that everybody in the
03:18party gets an opportunity.
03:19They're actually taking a cue from what the TVK has been able to do.
03:23The TVK has made sure that a lot of young blood, a lot of younger faces are brought to the
03:27front line, and that's exactly what the DMK has, you know, is also at the moment trying to do,
03:33trying to rush in a lot of young faces and to cap the age limit.
03:37Anika, we wait and watch how they implement this and what exactly is the effect of it thereafter.
03:42I want to thank you for getting us those details.
