00:00More than 16,000 doses of the available vaccine arrived in the DRC late Friday as the country faces the
00:09deadliest Ebola outbreak in its history.
00:12The World Health Organization announced on Thursday that the DRC would receive a total of 70,000 doses of the
00:20vaccine produced in Germany.
00:23We have indeed realized that public health measures alone should be accompanied by other measures, in particular medical ones.
00:31And so in our planning, we decided, on the advice of scientists, to use the Avebo vaccine, the vaccine we
00:38all know, which has already been used several times, and in particular very extensively during the 2018-2020 epidemic.
00:47The vaccine is approved against the Zaire strain of the virus, but not against the Bundibujo strain currently circulating in
00:54the country.
00:55Over 2,500 people have died from the outbreak, which was confirmed in May.
