00:00Democrat Javier Becerra is trying a rather interesting strategy in his campaign for
00:04governor of California in 2026, and that is to say as little as possible. He doesn't want to
00:10talk about his policies. He doesn't want to talk about any kind of campaign promises. He runs away
00:14from the media. He just wants to keep quiet and do big political events with big-name Democrat
00:18politicians and big labor unions that support Democrats and count the days until the November
00:23election. Now, in a state like California, where Democrats vastly outnumber Republicans,
00:27that strategy might actually win. But is it good for democracy? After all, campaign promises are the
00:33only way that voters really have of holding politicians accountable in a one-party state
00:38like California. Well, Becerra is not likely to change regardless because this is a strategy that
00:43has worked for his entire career. He has failed upwards from Congress to California Attorney General
00:48to Secretary of Health and Human Services and now to frontrunner for governor in California. Whether
00:53it helps the citizens if he does win the election and whether it allows him to govern effectively,
00:58we might just have to see.
