When it comes to zoology, the animals capable of growing the largest will almost always be those in the oceans. This is certainly the case throughout prehistory. Water buoyancy in the open seas can support much heavier animal weights, fighting against the force of gravity that would otherwise drag such large animals down.
Large bodies can store fat an energy better, allowing giant marine animals to remain energised in the endless blue, where food may not be constantly available. But, in time gone by, who was the absolute largest of the large when it came to marine animals?
