The Monsters That Ruled Earth After the Dinosaurs...

Sixty six million years ago, a meteorite put an end to the age of dinosaurs. It put an end to the Mesozoic, thus ushering in the era of the Cenozoic - the very same era we find ourselves in today.

In this new world, subtropical forests covered almost the entire globe. A new lineage of animals were able to rise up from the shadows to conquer it - the mammals. In the early stages of the Cenozoic, the mammals were small and, for the most part, inconspicuous. They would, however, soon branch out into all kinds of shapes and sizes, from the tiniest mouse to the largest whale.

Amongst them, of course, were the apex predators - and we'll be meeting a select few of them today. However, as we will soon see, it wasn't just mammals that were able to make a living for themselves in the Cenozoic.
