00:36specifically near Istanbul province and Yalova province in Turkey.
00:43In the past few days, I've been monitoring consecutive tremors
00:50as if it's an earthquake swarm of minor tremors,
00:55and specifically they are attacking the princes' islands.
01:01These princes' islands are among the tourist areas located in Istanbul province,
01:07specifically in the Sea of Marmara in Istanbul, Turkey.
01:11Up until this moment, the number of earthquakes that have struck in the past three days
01:17has exceeded 117 tremors.
01:21So, so far, I have 117 earthquakes.
01:26They struck the Sea of Marmara, and the Sea of Marmara is known for the very famous Marmara Fault.
01:33The magnitude of these 117 earthquakes ranged between 0.8 and 3.1 on the magnitude scale.
01:43That means those living near the princes' islands, or those living in Istanbul province,
01:49virtually the cities in Istanbul province that directly overlook the Sea of Marmara.
01:56Certainly, some people are actually feeling or sensing these consecutive tremors
02:01as if the sea is shaking continuously, while others can't even feel these successive earthquakes.
02:08And this is the big difference.
02:10These are the earthquakes that are striking Istanbul province.
02:12Some people feel it as a constant dizziness, or a persistent headache, or even ringing in the ears,
02:19meaning they might not feel it directly, but could experience these symptoms as well,
02:24because of the continuous seismic vibrations coming from the Sea of Marmara, from the Marmara Fault.
02:31Sometimes it also affects a person in the form of ringing in the ears,
02:36or as a headache, or dizziness, or a lack of balance in one way or another.
02:42Of course, this series of consecutive earthquakes is evidence that the fault is active.
02:50The Marmara Fault is active.
02:52And here you have the right to ask,
02:55has the big Istanbul earthquake become close to happening?
02:59And if this big earthquake happens in Istanbul,
03:03the last time it happened was in 1999.
03:06I mean, it was about 27 years ago from now, in case.
03:14But the expected earthquake will be the biggest, the great Istanbul earthquake.
03:19It is expected to reach a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale.
03:23So I have only one confirmed piece of information.
03:27The fault is alive, the fault is active, and becoming more active.
03:32And we are facing two possibilities.
03:35If these minor tremors continue as long as their magnitude remains below 3 on the Richter scale,
03:42this is a somewhat reassuring situation,
03:45because it means there is seismic energy inside this fault,
03:48and the seismic energy is being released gradually, little by little.
03:52It's being released little by little.
03:55But if it happens, and the intensity of these earthquakes increases,
04:01and the strength of these earthquakes rises above 3,
04:04that means we start seeing continuous tremors.
04:07With a magnitude between 3 and 4 on the Richter scale,
04:10the danger increases,
04:12and it becomes even more dangerous if it exceeds 4 on the scale.
04:16Here, we should start to feel concerned.
04:19This area now needs to be closely monitored.
