Forget what you know about forged blades. This podcast clip breaks down how 3D printed irons, like the Cobra 3DP MBs, offer the sleek look of a player's club with astonishing forgiveness on off-center hits.

00:00This year we've been introduced to the future of iron design
00:02without any shadow of a doubt for me.
00:05I think there's a lot of the traditionalists that will be clinging on
00:08and saying, this is nonsense, we'll still be forging in 100 years' time.
00:12It's tried and tested and blah, blah, blah.
00:14And it is, and it's not bad.
00:15Obviously, there's some really great feeling forged irons
00:17that are still being played, but it's shown me as a tester
00:21and a player that you can get the sort of forgiveness
00:26and the playability to visual contrast that you can achieve with 3D printing
00:31is beyond belief.
00:33I've got a set of irons in my bag over there, the 3DP MBs
00:38that look like the thinnest top line, compact profile, tiny little blades,
00:44just a real refined player's traditional look that I absolutely love.
00:49But I hit some fairly questionable iron strikes
00:52that I honestly think with some game improvement irons
00:57would have struggled to make the distance that my blade 3D printed iron.
01:02The heel and toe strikes are just astonishing.
01:06It's a real, it's so confusing for someone who's hit irons and forged irons
01:09and been through that blade period because they, again,
01:13can I show you my impression when they go,
01:14you're telling me a Japanese 3D printed thing from a machine
01:19can possibly feel as good as a Japanese forged piece of...
01:23Yeah.
01:23No, in fact, I'm not.
01:24I'm telling you it feels better.
01:25It genuinely feels better.
01:27It feels as good off the middle and way better.
01:30Heel and toe, it's just better.
01:31Like, you can fight it as people have done throughout history with,
01:36I'm not using a metal driver.
01:38You know, I'm not going to get the feedback of persimmon.
01:40Yeah, nice one.
01:41You're also going to be 50 yards back down there.
01:42Good luck to your pal.
01:44It's happened, it's here, it's so much better
01:47and I'm testing this week in, week out.
01:49I absolutely, I can't say enough.
