Emergency crews struggle to bring wildfire burning for weeks in Serbia under control

Warnings for extreme conditions have been issued across most of the Balkans, as authorities warn of a return to sweltering heat that has swept across Europe this summer.

00:00A Serbian wildfire that has been burning for weeks has forced evacuations as fire crew struggled to control the blaze
00:07in the Deliblazka Paskara Nature Reserve.
00:11The fire has burned through large areas of the forest reserve around 60 kilometers east of Belgrade since early August.
00:19As temperatures reached 39 degrees Celsius, strong winds pushed flames towards homes, forcing the evacuation of a small hamlet of
00:27the reserve's edge.
00:30Following the evacuation, Russia sent an Ilyushin water bomber at Belgrade's request for assistance.
00:36The aircraft can carry 42,000 liters of water and was used to deuce parts of the fire.
00:43But Serbia's Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said the situation remained dangerous because of the sand, heat and extreme temperatures.
00:52The blaze came as heat wave warnings covered much of the Balkans, with dozens of fires reported across the region.
