00:00The main fronts in wildfires that have destroyed large areas of Cyprus have been brought under
00:07control. However, firefighters remain on high alert as the risk of flare-ups continues.
00:13About 125 square kilometers of greenery was reduced to ashes in the mountainous Limassol
00:19region, of which 50 percent was grassland. The wildfires claimed the lives of two people,
00:26a 77-year-old woman and her 84-year-old husband, who were found in their car. The blaze also
00:33resulted in infrastructural damage, with some homes severely damaged or even completely burnt down.
00:41The Cypriot government have now announced that it will cover 100 percent of the damage to the
00:46properties of those affected.
