00:00I'm Paul Rasmussen. A state police helicopter and a small plane collided last night at Carlisle
00:05Regional Airport. It happened during a training exercise. That chopper, hovering near a runway
00:11with two troopers inside, was hit by a Cessna 150 on approach for landing. But the aircraft
00:16suddenly veered into the helicopter. State Police Lieutenant Colonel George Bivins. The plane
00:22crashed into the ground a short distance ahead in many pieces. The helicopter without its blades and
00:30without its tail boom rolled inverted and crashed into the ground. The pilot of the Cessna was killed
00:37but the troopers were able to get out of the wreckage. They were both injured but are expected
00:42to survive. Allegheny County DA Stephen Zappala plans to meet this morning with Pittsburgh police and
00:47city leaders to discuss safety on the south side. The meeting follows charges against a man accused
00:53of sexually assaulting a woman in a parking lot near some of the bars on East Carson Street. The
00:59suspect has been identified but has not been taken into custody. Homicides are up in Allegheny County
01:06compared with last year. So far this week four people were killed in shootings. One in Penn Hills,
01:11two in Homewood and one in Bedford Dwellings. There have been 50 homicides in Allegheny County
01:17in 2026 on pace for a total of 75. For all of last year the number was 66. New this

01:25Pittsburgh International is adding a new way for travelers to pass the time before their flights.

01:33Paul, it's a new kind of airport amenity. A gaming lounge where passengers can play while they wait for
01:39their flights. Gameway offers 30 or 60 minute sessions on Xbox, PlayStation and PC with high-speed
01:46internet gaming headsets and snacks and drinks. The lounge is open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

02:03state lawmakers to take action on skill games. That's because October 13th is the day when the
02:10machines become illegal. It's the result of a Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling. But lawmakers could
02:15reach an agreement on regulating and taxing skill games before the deadline. Tailgaters owner Melissa
02:21Thomas told KDKA-TV she's concerned because the machines bring in 20 to 30 percent of the bar's
02:26revenue. Without the games, you know, we risk losing a lot of a lot of business to those customers that
02:33enjoy that and they'll be going elsewhere. Critics of skill games say there is little to no skill
02:37involved and they should be treated like slot machines. The national debt has reached a new high.
02:43Here's ABC's Faith Abube. The national debt hitting a staggering milestone, topping $40 trillion for
02:49the first time. A big portion of the spending is coming from rising defense costs, including
02:54the war in Iran, in addition to safety net programs like Social Security and Medicare.

03:05Americans with higher borrowing costs and raising the cost of living.
