00:26A new tranche of explosive
00:29court documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell could soon be made
00:34public.
00:35According to a report by Mediaite, a Manhattan federal judge has agreed to unseal documents
00:41from a defamation lawsuit filed more than a decade ago by the late Virginia Roberts Jufri.
00:48Jufri sued Ghislaine Maxwell in 2015 after Maxwell accused her of fabricating allegations
00:55involving Jeffrey Epstein, former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and other men.
01:00The lawsuit was eventually settled in 2017, but the documents from that case have remained
01:06sealed for years, and now that could be about to change.
01:11Miami Herald reporter Julie Brown, who has been pushing for the release of the records, said
01:16the files contain extensive evidence presented by Jufri concerning alleged sexual trafficking
01:22involving Epstein and Maxwell.
01:24Brown said the records include court hearings, judicial decisions, and a large volume of
01:30evidence.
01:31She also argued that the documents were improperly sealed.
01:34According to Brown, former federal judge Robert Sweet issued a blanket sealing order over the
01:40records because they contained what was described as sensitive and private information.
01:45But Brown argues that court records are generally supposed to remain accessible to the public,
01:51and that documents should be individually reviewed before being sealed.
01:55She said lawyers seeking to keep specific records sealed should have to provide a legal justification
02:01for each document.
02:03Now the effort to keep these records private appears to have suffered another setback.
02:07Maxwell reportedly tried to prevent the release of the files, but that effort was rejected
02:13by Judge Loretta Preska.
02:15Brown said Preska determined that the Epstein Files Transparency Act superseded earlier arguments
02:22involving grand jury secrecy.
02:24The potential unsealing could provide new insight into one of the most closely watched legal cases
02:30surrounding Epstein and Maxwell.
02:32However, it is important to note that the release of court records does not automatically
02:37mean every allegation contained in those records has been proven true.
02:42The documents may contain allegations, testimony, exhibits, and legal arguments presented by the parties.
02:49Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted in federal court and sentenced to 20 years in prison in December
02:542021 for sex trafficking and related crimes.
02:58Virginia Jufri, one of Epstein's most prominent accusers, died in April 2025 at the age of 41.
03:06Now, more than a decade after she filed her lawsuit against Maxwell, the records from
03:12that case could finally emerge into public view.
03:15And the big question is, what exactly is inside the files that courts kept sealed for years?
