00:27At a personal date, starting in 1994, until at least 1997,
00:41Maxwell
00:45At a personal date, I want to also thank their chiefs, Russell Capone and Edward Descartes
00:54Thank you everybody, has she been dragged on the location beside her?
01:08Yeah, I'm not going to speak to that, we're not going to talk about that.
01:18Today, we announced charges against Ghislaine Maxwell for helping Jeffrey Epstein sexually
01:29exploit and abuse multiple minor girls from the period of 1994 through 1997.
01:40Maxwell has been taken into custody early this morning in New Hampshire and will be presented
01:45this afternoon before a magistrate judge in the District of New Hampshire.
01:52Maxwell was among Epstein's closest associates and helped him exploit girls who were as young
01:59as 14 years old.
02:04Maxwell played a critical role in helping Epstein to identify, friend, and groom minor victims
02:10for abuse.
02:12In some cases, Maxwell participated in the abuse herself.
02:19In addition to allegedly enabling and participating in the sexual abuse of young victims, Maxwell
02:26compounded her crimes by repeatedly lying in 2016 when she was questioned under oath.
02:33And we have charged those lies into perjury counts.
02:39She pretended to be a woman they could trust, all the while she was setting them up to be sexually
02:46abused by Epstein and in some cases by Maxwell herself.
02:51Today, after many years, Ghislaine Maxwell finally stands charged for her role in these crimes.
03:01Early this morning, Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested in Bradford, New Hampshire, by FBI special agents
03:08and NYPD detectives from the FBI-NYPD Crimes Against Children Task Force.
03:13Our team from New York was assisted by special agents assigned to our Boston, Newark, New Haven,
03:19and Albany field offices.
03:21We have been discreetly keeping tabs on Maxwell's whereabouts as we work this investigation.
03:26And more recently, we learned she had slithered away to a gorgeous property in New Hampshire,
03:30continuing to live a life of privilege while her victims lived the trauma inflicted upon him years ago.
03:36Yeah, her statement felt like a very hollow apology to me.
03:41She did not take responsibility for the crimes that she committed.
03:44And it felt like once more her trying to do something to benefit her and not at all about the harm that she had caused.
03:51Is 20 years long enough?
03:52I feel like the judge took into account everything that she needed to take into account.
03:59She took into account the severity of what Maxwell and FCD did to us.
04:05And I think that 20 years is reasonable considering all of that.
04:12So we're happy to finally have some closure.
04:16So for me to say, I hope she dies in prison, I don't wish harm on any human being.
04:24But as far as I'm concerned, that is the time she needs to do to be held accountable for just the four victims, I think, four brave victims.
04:37And don't forget there are thousands of us out there.
04:41And the things that she did to us were so incomprehensible that, you know, it warrants us thinking things that we might not think otherwise.
04:51Ghislaine will be exercising her right to appeal her conviction and sentence.
04:58And we, the family, will be solidly behind her all the way.
05:03Thank you very much.
05:04We all know that the person who should have been sentenced today escaped accountability, avoided his victims, avoided absorbing their pain and receiving the punishment he truly deserved.
05:25Clever and cunning to the end, Jeffrey Epstein left Ghislaine Maxwell holding the whole bag.
05:37Ghislaine Maxwell is a truly extraordinary person.
05:42She has been sentenced to an extremely long term of imprisonment for a 60-year-old woman who has shown no involvement whatsoever in criminal activity for the better part of the past 20 years or anything before the conduct of conviction.
