00:00Sadly this morning there was a miscommunication when Lily's bald body was recovered.
00:06That miscommunication, I inadvertently, or sorry, I unashamedly apologise for any additional
00:14trauma that may have caused Lily's family, but certainly for the embarrassment and confusion
00:19that caused.
00:21The miscommunication obviously was born out of elation that Lily had been found and her
00:26condition at that time was such that searchers were relieved and certainly those at the command
00:31post related.
00:33Tragically that miscommunication then led to a deflation and obviously we know now an
00:39impact on her family.
00:40Once again I unreservedly apologise for that miscommunication.
00:45The miscommunication obviously went through policing commands and up to government and
00:50has been reported widely.
00:52It was something that was inadvertent but as I said it was born out of looking to find
00:57Lily and bring her back to her family.
00:59I think the miscommunication, and I don't know exactly what was said to her parents at
01:03the time, but obviously her condition when she was located, the initial information that
01:08had been reported and was communicated was that she was alive.
01:11I don't know personally who informed but I assume it would have been a police commander
01:15who had been working closely with her family.
01:18One of the terrible things about these sort of searches is there is a close bond formed
01:22between commanders and families.
01:24I would assume that the commander would have spoken to the family.
01:27The communication may have passed through a number of hands.
01:30The location where Lily was found was remote, it was communicated via a communication device
01:36to the command post and it may well have passed a number of hands.
01:39We will obviously look at that communication, how it took place with a view to making sure
01:44we confirmed that.
01:45Was it?
