00:00I know you've probably talked a lot about the car and all the projects in Koenigsegg
00:06but today we kind of really want to focus a bit more about you
00:10about let's say the challenges you went through building Koenigsegg
00:13sure
00:15and maybe like also the challenges which were before Koenigsegg was a thing
00:21you know because many people always see these let's say finished products
00:26they see a car down there they don't know exactly what's been going on
00:29to get to that level and that's for us the interesting part
00:33we've called this podcast the lobster fight
00:37and so many people we spoke with already here
00:41are like why is it called the lobster fight
00:44Yeah, interesting name.
00:45it's different but it really means these challenges that we go through in life
00:52or difficulties in how we handle them
00:55defines if we come out of them as a stronger lobster
00:59right
00:59or a weaker one
01:00right
01:01and that's why we want to go today with this episode of the lobster fight
01:07so the thing I know about lobsters in that regard I think is whatever Jordan B. Peterson was talking about
01:13correct
01:13Is that from him or
01:14that's cool you know it's not many people you can put in front of a microphone
01:18they'll get that reference straight away so compliment to you for that
01:22that means that you you probably understand them not the methodology but the metaphor behind it
01:29a bit yes I'm I heard him speak about it so yeah and it's interesting especially the emotional aspect of
01:35lobsters
01:36exactly and how old they are and kind of makes you maybe not want to eat them when you think
01:40right you're right you're right you're right but this this was what what let's say inspired us to have a
01:46common name for the for the podcast to set the framework where we want to take the chat
01:51right and let yeah let's get into it and and see where today brings us
01:55sure sure uh I will I will then start by asking you
02:01the defining moment in your life that puts you on the course of where you are today if you can
02:07think of it
02:08uh yeah I mean uh I get the question a lot I guess why do you build cars and
02:13the first years of doing Koenigsegg I kind of answered yeah you know I was always interested in cars as
02:19a kid and
02:20uh something really loved and then usually they can't come back was yeah but there are a lot of
02:25people who are car interested that are not doing what you're doing I said yeah I guess
02:29so why and then I started thinking more deeply about it when was my first memory of wanting to build
02:36cars
02:38and uh it comes back to uh and it's also my father's kind of he helped me to remember this
02:44because he
02:45remembered it very vividly and it's also my first memory maybe because he reminded me I don't know but
02:50anyway when I was about six years old I my father took me to the movies and we
02:57saw a Norwegian
02:58sort of stop motion puppet movie this was like in 1977 or 1976 this was way before computer animations
03:06really existed and and there was this kind of intricately made puppet movie about a bicycle repairman
03:16who uh was like an inventor and he lived on top of a mountaintop similar to this we have in
03:22front of us
03:22here Lake Como and he had this bicycle repair shop up there with his two helpers and they started
03:28building this crazy wild race car uh that he wanted to compete with and then he took it to kind
03:35of a
03:36Le Mans style race and beat the Porsche the Ferraris and it was so well made it was like
03:41even I showed my kids a couple of years back I thought it's going to be horrible this move I
03:46haven't seen it for many years but it was still as amazing so well made and um uh well so
03:53he raced
03:53all these famous brands with this kind of home cooked thing and they'd had a lot of inventions at a
04:00rocket engine and a 12 liter engine and some strange it was a lot of strange inventions and he won
04:06the race
04:06of course after some struggles and I apparently told my father that uh when I grew up I want to
04:13be
04:13that bicycle repairman and build a car like that so I started drawing cars uh I started buying car
04:19magazines for all my pocket money and uh yeah and just had this vision of I'm going to build
04:26a car
04:26when I when I have a chance around when I was 19 years old I I kind of felt
04:34I'm a bit fed up with school
04:35and I'd felt like that for a while and wanted to get out there and do stuff um and especially
04:40of
04:40course having this dream of a car but I understood I need I need some kind of platform to
04:46create a
04:46car I I I don't have the resources so I um I started a company I had some uh ideas
04:54for inventions and
04:55things generally speaking which I thought maybe I can make a patent maybe I can make a little bit of
04:59money
04:59money
