00:01We're pleased to announce our solar panels have been implemented and have gone live.
00:05There are a number of new and new strategies we have seen
00:10the system where the stadium is going to be able to help you
00:16to help you.
00:17Of course, it's heavily on our own as a business,
00:20and of course, to help you with the planet.
00:23The initial concept of the project is quite a few years old.
00:27Around 2011, we started looking at it.
00:29We used the cranes inside the stadium to waste everything up and over the primary trusses there.
00:34We went live in February, just ticking over.
00:37But in the last few months, we've started taking off massively now,
00:40and we're into a good generational season.
00:43It's an important milestone in an important programme.
00:46We're looking to publish our sustainability strategy later this year,
00:50and it's important that we embed sustainability
00:53into our day-to-day operations and decision-making.
00:56It's for the whole of the Welsh Rugby Union.
00:58So yes, the stadium will feature as a part of that, and quite rightly so,
01:01there's a large property, but it is about the entire union,
01:04all the clubs, grassroots rugby, everything.
01:07Of course, all the Cainioons have learned about solar and the design of this.
01:12That's the area that we can go back to the game,
01:14even though the game is a big deal.
01:16There are costs that go back to the game, and this is one of the things that we can do.
01:20So if we can leverage the costs of this, and this is the business,
01:24then there's one area that we can go back to the game.
01:27We have 3,296 panels spread across the roof on both sides of the roof,
01:33generating in excess of 1.1 megawatts of energy.
01:36So that would equate to somewhere in the region of about 50 match days' worth of energy throughout the year,
01:41which actually makes us the largest solar installation on any sporting venue in the UK.
01:45There's an example that we can do in the region of the region of the region of the region of
01:50the region of the region of the region.
01:55We're looking at a payback period of between two to three years,
01:59so this is really important from a sustainability perspective,
02:02both from an environmental sustainability, but also financial sustainability,
02:06and those savings will enable us to invest more in that front.
