00:00:09To be continued...
00:04:54Wherever we turn, the Creator's energizing power is unmistakable.
00:05:01He guides the stars in their courses above.
00:05:07He formed the majestic mountains, he maintains the beneficial seasons, and in his hand is
00:05:20the life of the life of the life of the life of the life of the universe.
00:05:29You know, the fact that we have a universe tells us that we need a creator.
00:05:33Because you see, the energy in the universe has a beginning, the energy in the universe has a beginning and
00:05:38therefore requires a cause.
00:05:40And people say, well, you know, fine, God made the universe, but then who made God?
00:05:44But you see, God is eternal.
00:05:46God doesn't have a beginning and therefore doesn't require a cause.
00:05:48And that may be a little hard to grasp, but there's nothing irrational about an eternal being.
00:05:52There is something irrational about something popping into existence from nothing because that violates causality.
00:06:08You know, a famous evolutionist was once asked, you know, where did the Big Bang come from?
00:06:12And he said simply, you know, if somebody ever asked you where mass energy came from, just ask them where
00:06:19God came from.
00:06:20And I think he really said something much more meaningful than he thought.
00:06:25Something had to be eternal.
00:06:27Either mass energy is eternal or God is eternal.
00:06:32Well, science has taught us a lot about mass energy.
00:06:34One of the things is it wears out.
00:06:37Mass energy eternal doesn't make any sense at all.
00:06:40God is eternal does make sense.
00:06:42As we read in that first chapter of Hebrews, the heavens, the whole universe is growing old and wearing out
00:06:48like a garment to be cast off.
00:06:50But thou, O Lord, endureth forever.
00:06:53The Bible explains there's one God who's the creator and the source of all life and energy.
00:06:59The forces of nature are energized and guided by his hand.
00:07:03Who hasn't felt the rumble of an approaching storm and considered God's might?
00:07:30Thunderstorms are an amazing display of the creator's might.
00:07:33An average thunderstorm pours down several hundred million gallons of water, equivalent to the amount of water that flows over
00:07:42Niagara Falls every six minutes.
00:07:48The same storm releases 10 million kilowatt hours of energy, equivalent to a 20 kiloton nuclear warhead.
00:07:58And large severe thunderstorms can be 10 or even 100 times more energetic.
00:08:05At any given moment, hundreds of storms are occurring somewhere around the world.
00:08:10This amounts to about 16 million thunderstorms each year.
00:08:22The accompanying lightning illuminates an entire skyline.
00:08:27A bolt may reach over five miles in length, contain over 100 million electrical volts,
00:08:34and soar to temperatures approaching 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit in a split second.
00:08:41Hotter than the surface of the sun.
00:08:46On average, lightning strikes the earth 100 times every second.
00:08:52Several million volts reach earth each day.
00:08:56The tremendous power, the incredible speed, and the glaring flash are clear manifestations of our creator's majestic power.
00:09:05Thunderstorms are an incredible phenomenon in the atmosphere.
00:09:10They're awesome, they're powerful, they're frightening.
00:09:13They have all kinds of energy releases.
00:09:16That's basically what's happening, is the thunderstorm is releasing large quantities of energy in our atmosphere by vertical motions.
00:09:23Thunderstorms contribute a major amount to the water cycle.
00:09:27The hydrologic cycle, water's evaporated from the oceans, the vapor's drifted over the continents, and then it falls as rain,
00:09:35and then flows back into the sea.
00:09:37Thunderstorms are a major part of that cycle, where it converts that water vapor back into liquid water, rain falls
00:09:45to the earth.
00:09:45Lightning and thunderstorms in scripture are often used as a symbol of God's wrath against rebellious people.
00:09:52But everybody has been struck by the awesome beauty of lightning and storm and the smell of the fresh air.
00:10:01The lightning itself puts together two gases in the air, nitrogen and hydrogen, to make fertilizer.
00:10:07When the lightning stroke goes through the air, it releases the nitrogen in the vapor form and absorbs it into
00:10:14the water and it falls down and fertilizes the ground.
00:10:17So our crops are fertilized by the nitrogen produced by thunderstorms.
00:10:21Four thousand years ago, Job pondered the Almighty's display with these words.
00:10:28He binds up the water in his thick clouds, yet the clouds are not broken under it.
00:10:33He stirs up the sea with his power, and by his understanding, he breaks up the storm.
00:10:40Indeed, these are the mere edges of his ways, and how small a whisper we hear of him.
00:10:48But the thunder of his power, who can understand?
00:10:53So thunderstorms and natural events that are highly energetic, I think they're a lesson about if God can do this,
00:11:00what must he be like?
00:11:03While we may not fully grasp this cumulative power, these grand displays should cause all to stand in awe of
00:11:11our great God.
00:11:40Our sun is immense, and its energy output enormous.
00:11:46The core of the sun is a scorching 27 million degrees Fahrenheit.
00:11:52Though the sun is 93 million miles from Earth, sunlight is our main source of energy.
00:11:58Energy leaves the sun at the ferocious rate of 5 million tons of matter per second.
00:12:06This goes on day and night, year after year.
00:12:09There are many examples of God's power in nature.
00:12:14The whole universe came about by his word.
00:12:17Psalm 33 9 says that God spoke and it was finished.
00:12:21He commanded and it stood fast.
00:12:24As one good example, consider our nearest star, the sun.
00:12:28The sun gives off more energy in one second than mankind has produced since Adam and Eve.
00:12:35The sun actually provides its energy by nuclear fusion, converting hydrogen into helium on a grand scale.
00:12:44And this is true of all the stars.
00:12:46In our own Milky Way galaxy, we estimate a hundred billion stars.
00:12:51And beyond that in deep space, we see a hundred billion more galaxies.
00:12:56One cannot begin to grasp the kind of energy and power that we're talking about, all created by God's word.
00:13:03The sun heats the earth and it drives all of the weather systems on the earth.
00:13:08Tornadoes, hurricanes, thunderstorms, just plain rain clouds, winds.
00:13:12All of that is driven by the energy coming from the sun.
00:13:15And the energy that we have on earth is only one billionth of the amount of energy that's coming from
00:13:20the sun.
00:13:32To gain perspective, with the aid of computer animation, let's now travel with the earth to the sun at 100
00:13:39times the speed of light.
00:13:47From this view, we begin to appreciate the magnitude of our own star.
00:13:52Over one million earths would fit inside the sun.
00:13:57Yet our sun is an average size star.
00:14:00Many stars in our own galaxy dwarf it.
00:14:05Arcturus is the fourth brightest star in the night sky.
00:14:08Though 200 trillion miles away, this orange giant is visible to the naked eye.
00:14:19By moving our sun next to Arcturus, we can grasp its immensity.
00:14:25Arcturus is 100 times brighter, with a radius 20 times greater than the sun's.
00:14:33Yet even Arcturus appears small when compared with the supergiant Betelgeuse.
00:14:40Betelgeuse has a radius 600 times that of our sun.
00:14:44A reddish star, it shines a remarkable 60,000 times brighter than the sun.
00:14:51However, even Betelgeuse is not the largest star in our galaxy.
00:14:57Several red supergiants in the Milky Way are even larger.
00:15:02Some with a radius 1500 times that of our sun.
00:15:12Well, one of the things in creation that I think really exhibits God's power is the power released in stars.
00:15:17The sun, it releases more energy in one second than a billion major cities on the earth, if there were
00:15:25a billion, would produce in a year.
00:15:26And that's just released in one second.
00:15:28You can even imagine that.
00:15:29Of course, there are stars that are even more powerful than the sun.
00:15:31And just imagine all that power.
00:15:32All those stars, billions of stars in our own galaxy, billions of stars in other galaxies.
00:15:37And yet the Bible describes the creation of all that energy, all that power with a single phrase.
00:15:41He made the stars also.
00:15:48When we consider that these ratios present only a sliver of our Creator's power,
00:15:54certainly we can agree with the psalmist when he exhorts,
00:15:58let all the earth fear the Lord.
00:16:01Of course, the stars reveal more than raw power.
00:16:04Without the light of the sun, all life on earth would soon perish.
00:16:09The sun's life-giving energy provides a constant reminder of our Creator's steadfast love.
00:16:16The God who shines his gift of light on all.
00:16:35The visible universe contains more than 100 billion galaxies.
00:16:41Each of these galaxies has a diameter millions of trillions of miles wide,
00:16:46and each contains hundreds of billions of stars.
00:16:50Though incomprehensible, it is now estimated that the universe holds over a billion trillion stars.
00:16:58Long before the introduction of the telescope,
00:17:02Scripture declared that man would be unable to determine the exact number because there are so many.
00:17:07Of course, the Creator knows the exact number,
00:17:11and Psalm 147 declares that he even calls each star by name.
00:17:17The power to create each of these stars,
00:17:20the wisdom to maintain their stellar courses,
00:17:23and the incredible beauty displayed throughout the universe
00:17:27combine to affirm the Creator's majesty and care.
00:17:34God has made the universe so vast.
00:17:39All man can do is just marvel at this universe, the vastness of it.
00:17:45And I say, God, you are so great.
00:17:48And I think of what David said,
00:17:50When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,
00:17:55the moon and the stars that you have made,
00:17:58what is man that thou art mindful of him,
00:18:01or the son of man that you should visit him?
00:18:04It's estimated that there are over 100 billion stars in our galaxy, the Milky Way galaxy.
00:18:09It's estimated that there are over 100 billion galaxies in the universe.
00:18:13The Bible tells us that as the heavens are higher than the earth,
00:18:16so are God's ways above our ways and his thoughts above our thoughts.
00:18:19So if you chew on that for a little bit,
00:18:20think about how big the universe is compared to the earth,
00:18:22which is just the head of a pin by comparison.
00:18:26Just how big is God's universe?
00:18:29Traveling at the speed of light, 186,000 miles per second,
00:18:34we could circle the earth seven times in one second.
00:18:38However, to travel across the known universe at the speed of light
00:18:42would take 28 billion years or more.
00:18:52Today, most astronomers acknowledge that the universe appears to be expanding.
00:18:56This also agrees with the Bible, which says God stretches out the heavens like a curtain.
00:19:04There are some examples in the Bible of scientific foresight.
00:19:07One example that comes to mind in particular is in Isaiah 40, 22,
00:19:10which talks about God stretching out the heavens as a tent or as a curtain.
00:19:14And you might say, well, that is written in a poetic way, so we've got to be careful.
00:19:17And yet there are at least 10 other places in the Bible where it talks about this stretching out of
00:19:21the heavens.
00:19:22And that's something that was only discovered in the 20th century when we found that, indeed,
00:19:27all the galaxies appear to be, or virtually all of them appear to be moving away from each other
00:19:30as if the entire universe is being, lo and behold, stretched out and expanded, just like the Bible says.
00:19:35And that's obviously not something that people could have observed in ancient times.
00:19:40That's something that had to have been revealed to them from above.
00:19:47Unimaginably large, containing spectacular galaxies and stunning nebulae.
00:19:53Truly, the heavens declare the glory of God.
00:20:02It's not just the visible forces of nature or our immense universe that reveals God's might.
00:20:09It turns out that there is tremendous energy present in all matter, even the tiny atom.
00:20:15Let's explore one more example of the Creator's infinite power.
00:20:27In the last century, scientists have uncovered the vast energy present in all matter.
00:20:33The now well-known relation E equals MC squared states that the potential energy of any matter
00:20:40is equal to its mass times the speed of light squared.
00:20:45Well, one of the great discoveries of the 20th century was the discovery E equals MC squared,
00:20:50that little equation that most people have heard of, but maybe they don't know what it means.
00:20:53What it really means is that energy has mass.
00:20:56It doesn't mean that energy can be exchanged for mass, but rather energy actually possesses mass.
00:21:00Energy weighs something, if you could put it on a scale, even light.
00:21:03Even the light that's coming from this room, if I could put it on a scale, it would weigh just
00:21:06a little bit.
00:21:07In the past century, scientists have explored the concept of nuclear energy.
00:21:12It involves the formula E equals MC squared, made famous by Albert Einstein.
00:21:18In this formula, the M stands for mass or matter, and C is the speed of light.
00:21:24What the expression says is that it is possible to take matter or mass and convert it entirely into energy.
00:21:32You take a mass and you annihilate it, and off comes light and sound and power and energy.
00:21:38And that also means that if we could take just a little bit of mass and harness the energy from
00:21:43it, we could do some really incredible things.
00:21:45You see that equation, the C in that equation equals MC squared. C is the speed of light, which of
00:21:50course is quite large.
00:21:52And C squared, the speed of light times itself, that's very, very large.
00:21:55So that tells us that even the tiniest amount of mass has an enormous amount of energy associated with it.
00:22:02To appreciate the tremendous energy within any mass, consider that nuclear reactors convert only a tiny fraction of the total
00:22:11mass of their fuel to energy.
00:22:14If, however, we were able to convert all the mass to energy, the resultant output would be enormous.
00:22:21For example, if the mass of an average size tree could be converted into energy, the power yield would be
00:22:2945 trillion kilowatt hours.
00:22:32By way of comparison, the US generates about 4 trillion kilowatt hours of electrical energy per year.
00:22:39So if just a single tree's mass was converted into energy, and that energy harnessed, it would provide the entire
00:22:47United States with over 10 years of electrical energy.
00:22:52Or, to illustrate further, the potential energy within a single grain of salt could power an entire household for several
00:23:01months.
00:23:02Though scientists have much to learn about energy, mass, and what holds matter together, they have discovered that the energy
00:23:10residing in all matter is incomprehensibly vast.
00:23:15Scripture explains that it is the Lord himself who is upholding all things by the word of his power.
00:23:21This includes every atom, every cell, every star, and the entire universe.
00:23:30It is now undeniable that the Almighty has created a universe with unlimited energy.
00:23:39There had to be someone, not something, because things wear out, second law of thermodynamics.
00:23:45There had to be someone, without beginning or end, who had the power, and the knowledge, the wisdom, the incredible,
00:23:54infinite intelligence,
00:23:56to put all this together from the atom, the organization of the atom, to the cosmos, and so forth.
00:24:03When we look at the many examples of God's power, it should invoke a sense of reverence and awe in
00:24:09our hearts.
00:24:10The Bible tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
00:24:14The fear of the Lord is to hate evil. The fear of the Lord leads to life.
00:24:18Therefore, the proper response to God's authority is to worship him and seek his mercy and forgiveness for our sins.
00:24:28The prophet Jeremiah declared,
00:24:31Ah, Lord God, behold, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm.
00:24:38There is nothing too hard for you.
00:24:41Surely creation reveals God's omnipotence, but there's much more.
00:24:46Though the universe is marred by the curse, the Creator's wisdom, beauty, and love are still evident.
00:25:11Who can hold him?
00:25:14No!
00:25:14No!
00:25:14Awww!
00:25:15Awww!
00:25:36Wherever we turn, the Lord's wisdom is conspicuous.
00:25:40Study the properties of water.
00:25:42This elegant molecule is indispensable to life.
00:25:47So our generous God covered four-fifths of the earth's surface with it in streams, lakes, and seas.
00:25:55Water is perfectly designed to support the life of every cell and creature.
00:26:01It's an excellent solvent, coolant, and transporter.
00:26:09Or examine the insect world.
00:26:11Each of these amazing creatures is endowed with ingenious abilities that far surpass anything man-made.
00:26:23From elegant to complex, the Creator's works declare His wisdom.
00:26:46Thousands of years ago, God asked Job, have you entered the treasury of snow?
00:26:52Now, no man living at that time could have known fully about the treasures of the snow.
00:26:57But with the advent of the microscope, these elaborate crystals can now be wholly appreciated.
00:27:06These are actual snow crystals that have reached earth intact.
00:27:14Snow crystals form in the clouds where water vapor condenses and crystallizes into ice.
00:27:20As the crystals grow, these remarkable patterns emerge.
00:27:28Complex, symmetrical, and beautiful, they are breathtaking to behold.
00:27:39In contrast, man-made snow has none of the elaborate structure found in snow crystals.
00:27:45Snow crystals are made out of amazing water molecules.
00:27:48Each oxygen atom has a little bit of negative charge, and it holds onto two hydrogen atoms that have a
00:27:55little positive charge.
00:27:57And it holds them 104 and a half degrees apart.
00:28:01When you reach the freezing point, suddenly they reach a point where the electrical attraction of plus and minus charges
00:28:07can pull them together.
00:28:09That's the energy source.
00:28:10And then that shape God gave the water molecules, they line up to form those beautiful crystals, each one unique,
00:28:19each one a reflection of God's creativity.
00:28:23Every day, trillions of God's transparent treasures fall to earth for our discovery and joy.
00:28:29And yet, no two are exactly alike.
00:28:33I believe that God built this hexagonal shape into the individual water molecule
00:28:38because of the way they have to fit together.
00:28:40They form this hexagonal shape as they add on molecules and grow outward.
00:28:45And each individual ice crystal is made up of literally millions of water molecules.
00:28:49And although they fit together in a particular way, as they grow outward,
00:28:53the ice crystals falling down through the cloud at different temperatures, they begin to get different shapes.
00:28:58So every ice crystal is going to be slightly different than every other one.
00:29:03Each crystal is built on a hexagonal pattern
00:29:06and exhibits a marvelous symmetry of design.
00:29:09Truly, there is a treasury of snow, just as God declared 4,000 years ago.
00:29:16There's two things about ice crystals that just really excite me.
00:29:20One is literally the beauty.
00:29:22You look at them and you see all these patterns with these flat faces and the structure that's there.
00:29:29There's over a hundred different basic types of ice crystals.
00:29:32It's just the beauty of it.
00:29:34And that tells me something about God.
00:29:36It tells me that God loves beauty and He loves me because He provided this beauty to look at.
00:29:41So it resonates with me.
00:29:42The other is the way in which the ice crystals are ordered, the way in which the individual molecules fit
00:29:47together.
00:29:48That fits a particular consistent pattern time and time again.
00:29:52It tells me that God has designed it.
00:29:54There is also a spiritual application.
00:29:57As each snow crystal is distinctly patterned, so each human, each soul is unique and of special concern to our
00:30:06Lord.
00:30:07As God's creative hand forms ice crystals with loving care, so too He intends to form each person to reflect
00:30:15His glory.
00:30:17Compared to the rest of creation, snow crystals are simple, yet the great architect's attention, even to the countless snow
00:30:25crystals He forms each day, is an unmistakable mark of His care.
00:30:31God has built into not only ice crystals, all kinds of other molecules, all kinds of systems, relationships and processes
00:30:40that we don't even begin to fathom yet today.
00:30:42That's one of the reasons I'm a scientist. I love trying to find out how things function, how they operate,
00:30:49and apply mathematical equations to them, because I feel like I'm touching the face of God, if you wish.
00:31:10If simple water molecules that form ice crystals exhibit magnificent structure, consider the design ingenuity behind large, complex molecules, such
00:31:22as DNA.
00:31:23DNA contains the blueprint for all life, and is by far the densest information storage mechanism known in the universe.
00:31:32For example, the amount of information contained in a pinhead volume of DNA would fill a stack of books 500
00:31:40times higher than from here to the moon.
00:31:44The program code and design of such an incredible system indicates a supremely intelligent designer.
00:31:51The evidence to me that just cries out that there's a God is the study of DNA.
00:31:57DNA is a very powerful, massive information storage system.
00:32:03In fact, DNA that makes up our genes actually is like books of information that's read by a language system.
00:32:09It's absolutely phenomenal. And scientists know today that language as a code only comes from an intelligence, and information only
00:32:18comes from information.
00:32:19Nobody's ever seen matter by itself give rise to a code. Nobody's ever seen matter by itself give rise to
00:32:26information.
00:32:27And as you look at DNA, it actually cries out in the beginning, God created the universe.
00:32:33We all begin as a single cell the size of a period at the end of a sentence.
00:32:38How does that cell know how to build a body with 100 trillion cells in it, thousands of different kinds.
00:32:52And each one of them is so complex nano chemical machinery beyond our comprehension how it works.
00:32:59And encoded is the instruction manual. It's the manufacturer's manual how to build and operate every part of this incredible
00:33:10body made up of 100 trillion cells.
00:33:14Furthermore, DNA is a three-dimensional molecule that is self-replicating.
00:33:19Each molecule is able to make an identical copy quickly and efficiently.
00:33:26The Lord has even programmed DNA to detect and correct replication errors.
00:33:32These sophisticated capabilities far exceed man's means.
00:33:37God has created the DNA molecule in such a way that it is self-correcting.
00:33:42There are special proteins called enzymes that go up and down the DNA molecule looking for and making repairs on
00:33:50a minute-by-minute, second-by-second basis.
00:33:53God created us with a DNA code that actually has what we call editase or editorial-type enzymes.
00:34:01Just as an editor reads a newspaper or a book looking for mistakes,
00:34:05so God has created special enzymes that go up and down our DNA molecule repairing the mistakes in ways that
00:34:12are unbelievably complex.
00:34:15There are many examples in creation of things that demonstrate the biblical God.
00:34:20One would be in our very DNA. Our DNA has information in it.
00:34:24And there is a whole field of scientific study called information science,
00:34:27which studies how information originates, how it's transmitted, and so on.
00:34:30And one of the laws of information science says that information never originates by itself in matter,
00:34:36never spontaneously comes about.
00:34:38Any time we trace the copying of information back to its source, it always comes back to a mind.
00:34:44And since we have creative information in DNA, that tells me that DNA comes from intelligence.
00:34:48It's not something that could possibly come about through millions of years of mutations and natural selection.
00:34:53That just won't work.
00:34:54Yet even the DNA molecule is simple compared to cells.
00:34:58All life consists of cells, and each cell functions as a miniature city.
00:35:04When we consider that a human body consists of trillions of cells working together as one unit,
00:35:11we should be in humble awe of our Creator's intimate care and perfect wisdom.
00:35:32Every seed is a miniature miracle.
00:35:37God has programmed the tiny sequoia seed to become the largest tree on earth,
00:35:42reaching nearly 300 feet tall and weighing many tons.
00:35:48God has designed the humble apple seed to yield a bounty of delicious fruit for years to come.
00:35:55And God has planned a multitude of seeds to produce spectacular blossoms in abundance.
00:36:03Consider the many varieties of seeds.
00:36:06As stated in Genesis, each seed always produces after its own kind.
00:36:11And just as the Lord intended, the fruits and by-products that they bear have supplied the needed food and
00:36:18resources for man and his environment.
00:36:22In the first chapter of Genesis, God said,
00:36:25Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit that yields fruit according to its
00:36:32kind,
00:36:32whose seed is in itself on the earth.
00:36:35And it was so.
00:36:36So the Creator made life with the ability to reproduce after its kind.
00:36:42Plants produce seed.
00:36:44This answers the question, which came first, the seed or the plant?
00:36:48Clearly, God created plant life with the seed in itself.
00:36:53Seeds are masterpieces of micro-miniaturization.
00:36:58Inside each seed is a little baby, a little embryonic plant.
00:37:02It's already got leaves, you know, in a stem and a root.
00:37:05It's surrounded by a seed coat that protects it.
00:37:08And filled with all kinds of receptors listening in to environmental signals.
00:37:14So it knows what temperature, what moisture conditions, how much oxygen.
00:37:19All these things have to be present before it will sprout.
00:37:22And the first seeds we find as fossils look just like the seeds that we have today.
00:37:27The seed is the first reproductive structure God made on creation day three.
00:37:33And it's the way living things ever since have multiplied after kind.
00:37:42Today, scientists have discovered what scripture stated all along.
00:37:46Inside the unassuming seed is life itself.
00:37:52Contained within our living cells, tiny factories of amazing complexity.
00:37:57No scientist has been able to build a synthetic seed.
00:38:01And no seed is simple.
00:38:04Seeds are programmed to remain dormant until water and warmth are available.
00:38:09Who installed this ability to monitor temperature and humidity?
00:38:14Who determined the proper time for the seed to germinate?
00:38:18Who told the root, you must go down?
00:38:21And the stem, you must head upward?
00:38:25Do you see the guiding hand of our all loving creator?
00:38:32In order to sprout and thrive, seeds require the proper soil nutrients,
00:38:38the ideal properties found in water, the correct frequency spectrum of light,
00:38:42the right atmosphere, and the necessary pollinators.
00:38:47All of these must have been in place from the beginning in order for seeds to yield a harvest of
00:38:52blessings for mankind.
00:39:17What a drab world it would be without flowering plants.
00:39:21From unassuming seed to magnificent blossom, flowers reflect a sliver of God's splendor.
00:39:31There are a great variety of flowering plants flourishing all over the globe,
00:39:35and each with its own unique flower, fruit and fragrance.
00:39:41As a blossom expands, its fragrance fills the air.
00:39:46Consider that each flower always produces its own particular perfume.
00:39:51Even more amazing, God uses the same elements, soil, light and water,
00:39:57to produce all these brilliant varieties.
00:40:03Remarkably, certain flowers are designed to know what time it is.
00:40:07California poppies, morning glories and daylilies are three beautiful examples.
00:40:13Opening and closing with clock-like precision,
00:40:17they are sensitive to atmospheric pressure, length of daylight, temperature and humidity,
00:40:22and must therefore have built-in biorhythms.
00:40:28Each leaf of a plant is also a marvel.
00:40:32Long before man discovered how to harness solar power,
00:40:36the Creator installed miniature solar panels in every green leaf.
00:40:41As the leaf expands, it is programmed to face the sun to receive its energy.
00:40:47This energy powers its chemical factories.
00:40:50As a result, carbon dioxide is absorbed,
00:40:53oxygen is released, and hydrogen is used in making sugars.
00:40:59How ingenious of our God to design leaves to absorb man's waste gas
00:41:04and release the oxygen which every creature needs for survival.
00:41:10Photosynthesis is also the basis for all our food supply.
00:41:14Thankfully, countless numbers of God's little green machines perform this service every day.
00:41:21Flowering plants are such a testimony to God's provision.
00:41:25Not only are they critical in terms of providing food and medicine and various other aspects of life as we
00:41:31know it,
00:41:31but we would simply not be able to exist without the flowering plants.
00:41:36Well, that ties in with the large group of animals called the arthropods.
00:41:39One of the groups of arthropods would be the insects.
00:41:42Insects need the plants, and plants most assuredly need the insects in terms of pollination,
00:41:48in terms of keeping the plants fertilized on a year-to-year basis.
00:41:53Genesis 2-9 tells us that God created green plants pleasant to the sight and good for food.
00:42:00Plants use the amazing process of photosynthesis to trap energy from the sun,
00:42:06to put together carbon dioxide molecules from the air,
00:42:10water molecules from the soil,
00:42:12to make sugar molecules,
00:42:14a basic building block for all of the other food groups.
00:42:17Where do the plants get the carbon dioxide?
00:42:20We breathe it out. Animals breathe out the carbon dioxide.
00:42:23Plants absorb that carbon dioxide.
00:42:26They absorb the water.
00:42:28They release oxygen from the water molecules so we can breathe it in,
00:42:32burn the sugar to produce the carbon dioxide that they can absorb to make more sugar.
00:42:37You may get the idea.
00:42:39All of these parts have to fit together at the same time.
00:42:43That's one thing as we look at the creation account,
00:42:45how God made plants, animals, people, all the physical features of the universe,
00:42:50to fit together in an intricate pattern reflecting His glory.
00:42:57Food, oxygen, medicine, fuel, raw materials.
00:43:02Surely the Lord designed plants for our benefit.
00:43:06The rich diversity of flowering plants and the many purposes they serve
00:43:11all point to a wise and compassionate Creator.
00:43:16Though magnificent in bloom,
00:43:18the glory of the flower quickly fades.
00:43:22Scripture likens man's life on earth to a flower, so quick to pass away.
00:43:28Therefore, how important it is for each of us to seek everlasting life today.
00:43:39Then God said,
00:43:41Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures,
00:43:44and let birds fly above the earth.
00:43:47So God created every living thing that moves,
00:43:50and God saw that it was good.
00:43:52In the book of Genesis, we read that God created everything to be very good.
00:43:56And though sin has since injured creation,
00:44:00the fish, the birds, and all creatures still testify to God's goodness and wisdom.
00:44:06We'll now turn our attention to the Lord's incredible creatures.
00:44:14Living in the waters of the world are creatures more magnificent than mankind could ever imagine.
00:44:22The enormous assortment of ocean dwellers speaks of the unlimited ingenuity of our great Creator.
00:44:28And each sea creature has been designed with remarkable functionality.
00:44:36God equipped the octopus with a form of jet propulsion,
00:44:41suction cup technology,
00:44:44and self-adjusting camouflage far superior to any man-made design.
00:44:51Watch as this giant octopus morphs into a rock with algae.
00:44:56Its color, shape, and texture are all transformed in an instant.
00:45:06The squid on the left is a male.
00:45:09He shows a brownish-red courtship pattern toward the female,
00:45:13while simultaneously showing a white fighting pattern on his opposite side to ward off rival males.
00:45:20As he switches sides, his markings actually flip.
00:45:26Dual simultaneous signaling demonstrates God's engineering supremacy.
00:45:35Underwater symbiotic relationships reveal perfect foresight in design planning.
00:45:42Sea anemones are poisonous.
00:45:44Yet God has enabled certain fish to safely cohabitate in their environment.
00:45:50For example, clownfish are designed with an immunity to the anemones' poison.
00:45:56This could not have been inherited,
00:45:58as prior generations would have been killed and gone extinct before evolving a beneficial immunity.
00:46:10The schooling pattern of certain fish is still being researched.
00:46:14The ability for fish to dart with synchronized movements reveals the guiding hand of a grand conductor.
00:46:24Different species of fish have been relegated to dwell at specific levels of the ocean depths.
00:46:30This capability is the result of a specially designed air bladder,
00:46:34which secretes gases from the bloodstream, regulating the pressure, maintaining equilibrium,
00:46:40allowing the fish to survive at various water pressures within a range determined by the Creator.
00:46:47One of my absolutely favorite sea creatures is the pearly nautilus, or the chambered nautilus.
00:46:54Here's a shell like you might find in the Florida Shell Shop.
00:46:57When you cut these down the middle,
00:47:00whoo, look at that, all these little chambers inside.
00:47:03The animal that lives in the last chamber here is essentially a squid.
00:47:08It has lots of little tentacles coming out the front like that.
00:47:11All these little chambers enable it to regulate its buoyancy like a submarine does.
00:47:17Inside that amazing squid, there's a brain.
00:47:20There's an eye that sees the world like we do.
00:47:24There's a digestive system with salivary glands and a pancreas gland.
00:47:28They have three different hearts.
00:47:30They're as complex inside as we are.
00:47:33And yet, fossils of this kind of creature are among the first to be found.
00:47:39Initial complexity, a marvelous testimony to God's creativity.
00:47:43When I look at the sea creatures that God has created, I look in particular to the fish.
00:47:48They are amazing creatures, starting with their streamlined efficiency.
00:47:52The fact that they are designed to extract oxygen from the water in such an efficient manner.
00:47:58The fact that they have such a pleasing aesthetic values.
00:48:02And also, of course, the great quantities of food they provide for man.
00:48:07Fish have always been fish, according to the fossil record.
00:48:10Yes, fish certainly are an incredible feature of God's living creation.
00:48:32The obvious sophistication, variety and beauty of sea creatures.
00:48:37Shout out, a master artist created all things for his good pleasure.
00:49:09Birds are among the most captivating creatures on earth.
00:49:11We marvel at their spectacular colors.
00:49:15Their streamlined shapes.
00:49:17And their ability to fly with grace and ease.
00:49:24For centuries, man attempted to imitate the flight of a bird.
00:49:28It was only in the 20th century that he succeeded in controlled flight.
00:49:33To this day, in order to improve the aerodynamics of the plane, man will return to study God's marvelous avian
00:49:41design.
00:49:46Consider some of the creator's design features.
00:49:49A bird's bones are lightweight and virtually hollow.
00:49:52They're supported inside by struts and honeycombed with air sacks.
00:49:56These lightweight bones are designed so efficiently for flight that the bird's feathers usually weigh more than its entire skeleton.
00:50:05Even its beak is designed to save weight, made of lightweight horn rather than heavy bone.
00:50:12Birds also have two strong sets of breast muscles.
00:50:16A large set to control the wing's downstrokes and a smaller set to control the upstrokes.
00:50:23And only birds have been created with feathers.
00:50:26Feathers insulate the bird from the sun's heat, protect it from the cold, waterproof the body, and create wing and
00:50:36tail surfaces necessary for flight.
00:50:40Each feather is connected to a nerve and controlled by a muscle.
00:50:43This precision muscular control helps the bird balance in the air, steer, and brake when slowing down to land.
00:50:53Birds, they're just truly spectacularly amazing.
00:50:57They're well known, of course, for the feather, which is a masterpiece of strength and lightness combined in one thing.
00:51:05They have a little system of barbs, barbules, kind of like hooks and eyelets and velcro.
00:51:11They can zipper together the little feathers that stick out from the main shaft.
00:51:16And they can take their bill and zipper them and unzipper them as they oil their feathers.
00:51:21And each feather along the length of the wing has a slightly different size and shape that's coordinated with all
00:51:29of the others.
00:51:29There's no way at all feathers could just arise by time and chance.
00:51:35They are marvels, masterpieces, miraculous examples of creation.
00:51:48Another essential element to bird flight is the air-filled bags that lie between the bird's organs.
00:51:54The bird's air sacs are connected to its lungs, and during flight, air flows through them.
00:52:00This arrangement rapidly feeds the bird's body tissues with life-supporting oxygen while keeping it light in the air.
00:52:09All birds are amazing.
00:52:11You know, they have a system of breathing that's not found in any other creature.
00:52:15The bird lung is a special double-tied system where you can oxygenate air both inhaling and exhaling.
00:52:23Unlike our lungs or the lungs of any other creature, the bird lung has back doors.
00:52:28And it turns out that this is important.
00:52:31Birds do not change the shape of their chest cavity when they breathe.
00:52:36You know, if you saw a bird just land from a thousand-mile migration, just landed,
00:52:40would you see the chest heave as he breathed?
00:52:43They are stone still, no matter how hard they've been flying.
00:52:47You think, how do they breathe?
00:52:49Turns out that the air is moved through the bird much like a bellows for a fire.
00:52:54These airbags between the muscles, as the bird flies, as it walks, it's moving the air.
00:52:59Such wonderful creatures God made in birds.
00:53:04All of these engineering marvels combine for efficient flight and show perfect foresight in the creation of birds.
00:53:13One of the marvels of birds is their ability to migrate long distances.
00:53:19The Arctic tern makes it all the way from areas near the North Pole all the way down to the
00:53:24South Pole and back every year.
00:53:26Now, people can do that in an airplane.
00:53:29Well, you've perhaps looked into the cockpit of an airplane.
00:53:32All those switches and dials and levers and controls.
00:53:35And then you have to have ground control to tell the pilot where he's going.
00:53:39And all of that is packed into one teeny part of a bird's brain.
00:53:45Next time somebody calls you a bird brain, say why, thank you.
00:54:04The Lord has equipped each bird uniquely for his role in life.
00:54:08In the service of man, each species of bird has a special area of patrol.
00:54:14Many help by controlling insects.
00:54:17Others remove the carcasses.
00:54:19The finch family is a great weed seed destroyer.
00:54:23The owl and the hawk keep the rodents in check.
00:54:27The sandpiper combs the beaches.
00:54:31The water bird maintains the proper balance in fish population.
00:54:35The heron in frog and snake control.
00:54:41With graceful proportions, amazing aerodynamic abilities, and practical functions,
00:54:49each bird is a testimony to God's wisdom and love.
00:54:53While God provides marvelously for birds,
00:54:56remember that Jesus assures us that we are of more value than many sparrows.
00:55:16The hummingbird is a marvel of agility and grace.
00:55:22The smallest birds, they take their name from the humming sound made by their rapid wing beats.
00:55:31Darting from flower to flower, the hummer poises in mid-air.
00:55:38He has come to sip sweet nectar.
00:55:43The hummingbird has been wonderfully designed to do this.
00:55:47God gave it a small body to move with ease about the flowers.
00:55:51A long, needle-like bill to probe deeply into the flower cup.
00:55:57And a specialized tongue, ideal for extracting nectar.
00:56:02God also gave it remarkably strong wings and a sturdy breastbone,
00:56:07which enabled the bird to stop in mid-air and even fly backwards and sideways with ease.
00:56:14Of course, all the hummingbird's features, long bill, special tongue, unique rapid wing beat,
00:56:21would have to work together from the beginning in order for it to be able to gather its energy food
00:56:26and thereby survive.
00:56:30Though the wings of most birds bend at the shoulder, elbow and wrist,
00:56:35the hummingbird chiefly uses the shoulder.
00:56:38Like a helicopter, it can rise directly upward.
00:56:42The creator's design, however, makes it possible to swivel in all directions,
00:56:47is much more efficient and far more agile than any man-made flying machine.
00:57:00The hummer's capabilities are phenomenal.
00:57:03When hovering, his wings beat 50 times a second.
00:57:08When speeding straight away, up to 80 times.
00:57:13Its heart beats 21 times in the same second.
00:57:16These tiny little birds have a metabolic rate that just is almost unimaginable.
00:57:24Their heartbeat is so fast it gets into the range of audible sound.
00:57:29You think of these little hummers that fly, they migrate over hundreds of miles.
00:57:34The reserved food to make this trip, an error of hundreds of a gram in nutrients,
00:57:43could mean not making the trip.
00:57:45Birds alone would be absolute compelling evidence for a marvelous creator.
00:58:05The hummingbird's nest is a masterpiece of art.
00:58:10The female is the artist.
00:58:13She uses fern fuzz, dandelion seed down and other plant felts.
00:58:18The exterior is adorned with lichens and fastened with spider webbing.
00:58:29The interior is lined with the softest down available.
00:58:35No one teaches her the art of nest building.
00:58:38It is a God-given ability.
00:58:43The male hummingbird's coloring has no rival in the bird kingdom.
00:58:47The magnificent hummingbird, the broad-tailed, the blue-throated, and Costa's hummingbird
00:58:57are among the more than 300 stunning species.
00:59:01The iridescent colors of the throat and crown are due to refraction and not pigments.
00:59:07Often, these areas appear dark, almost black.
00:59:11But from the proper angle, the iridescent colors seem to glow from within.
00:59:30Every aspect of these remarkable birds testifies to the creator's gracious provision.
00:59:37Would we say that the hummingbird has been especially favored by the all-loving creator?
00:59:43No.
00:59:45This genuine love is extended upon every creature.
00:59:48If we carefully study any creature, the Lord's glory will always beam forth.
01:00:21That's the true love of the earth.
01:00:25The beautiful coloration of butterfly wings is created by millions of minute scales.
01:00:31These precision scales function as bio-photonic crystals, reflecting specific wavelengths
01:00:37of light to produce these brilliant colors.
01:00:42The extraordinary patterns and pleasing colors reveal a wise and caring designer.
01:00:48One of the amazing things I find about the butterfly is its beautiful iridescence.
01:00:53Take, for example, the morpho butterfly.
01:00:56Morpho butterflies have a beautiful blue-type iridescence.
01:01:00But then when biologists many decades ago began to look at the scales of the butterfly,
01:01:05they didn't find any pigmentation cells.
01:01:08They found instead bio-photonic structures.
01:01:12They found structures that are designed by the Creator to absorb certain wavelengths of
01:01:18white light and reflect back to the viewer only that wavelength of light within the
01:01:23spectrum of a bluish-purple color.
01:01:26We have found that using electron microscope, there are structures there that can have no
01:01:32more variation than .00004 millimeters.
01:01:37a wonderful testament to God's design.
01:01:46All butterflies undergo an amazing transformation during their life cycle.
01:01:52The insect begins as an egg.
01:01:56Then a crawling caterpillar, followed by the pupa stage.
01:02:01During this stage, the caterpillar begins to convulse in rhythmic jerks, breaking off its outer skin.
01:02:10Its legs and head capsule are quickly shed, giving rise to a chrysalis.
01:02:16Then within the first day, the caterpillar's organs disintegrate into a soupy liquid.
01:02:24Miraculously, after one to two weeks, a complex winged butterfly emerges.
01:02:31This metamorphosis takes place in a matter of days, not millions of years.
01:02:39The adult butterfly now has six segmented legs, antennae, a specialized feeding tube, two amazing compound
01:02:49eyes, complex reproductive organs, and four ornate wings.
01:02:55The caterpillar had none of these features.
01:02:59Clearly, the genetic instructions for all these stages were programmed into the insect by the
01:03:05creator from the beginning.
01:03:07When the butterfly changes from a caterpillar to a chrysalis to a butterfly, there are two
01:03:12completely different designs here.
01:03:15One design is for the caterpillar, that's the initial stage, and all that does is creep around
01:03:20on the backside of a leaf and it munches and eats all day, increases its size about 250 times,
01:03:26that's all it does.
01:03:27But then it goes into the chrysalid, it turns into liquid, and then it comes out with a totally
01:03:32different design.
01:03:34What was the butterfly designed to do?
01:03:36Well, that was designed to fly, of course, where the caterpillar wasn't.
01:03:39It was designed to drink the nectar from the flowers, but at the same time fertilize the
01:03:44flowers.
01:03:45It was designed to mate, and it was designed to be able to migrate from one country to the
01:03:50other several thousand miles in some cases.
01:03:52So, it's designed for specific things.
01:03:55The caterpillar has one thing to do, to grow, eat and grow.
01:03:58And the butterfly has several things to do, eat, grow, fertilize and mate.
01:04:20Thousands of years ago, Scripture declared what was common knowledge to everyone.
01:04:23For example, in the book of Job, chapter 12, we read,
01:04:27But now ask the beasts, and they will teach you, and the birds of the air, and they will
01:04:32tell you.
01:04:33Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, and the fish of the sea will explain to you,
01:04:38Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?
01:04:45If we examine the evidence that we see, the various things that have been created, it is
01:04:51very clear from the Scriptures that the evidence points to the reality that there is a Creator
01:04:56who has made all things.
01:04:59Our great Creator has provided us with countless examples of His infinite wisdom.
01:05:05The functionality and ingenuity of God's creatures surpass our understanding, and our cause for
01:05:12unending thanksgiving and worship.
01:05:27While all creation reflects aspects of God's character, man alone was created in God's image.
01:05:34Man has physical distinctions.
01:05:36His brain is a masterpiece of complexity.
01:05:39His hands are able to accomplish precise work.
01:05:42His posture is upright.
01:05:44Yet, it is man's spiritual nature that is especially unique.
01:05:49Scripture explains that God is spirit.
01:05:51And even though mankind has fallen into sin, man's spiritual nature still retains a glimmer
01:05:58of the Creator's character.
01:06:00For example, man has a free will.
01:06:03Man knows the difference between good and evil.
01:06:05And only mankind has produced great scientists, composers, prophets, and poets.
01:06:23Mankind has been engineered with brilliant physical traits.
01:06:28For example, the human eye moves about 100,000 times each day with automatic focusing and can
01:06:36handle 1.5 million simultaneous messages.
01:06:41The eye is also self-cleaning with built-in wipers and cleaning fluid.
01:06:45And the eye even has the amazing ability to assemble and heal itself.
01:06:51Furthermore, God has designed the human eye to distinguish millions of colors, and His mind
01:06:58is the human eye to appreciate the rich spectrum of beauty seen throughout creation.
01:07:02Most people don't realize this, but the eye is part of the brain.
01:07:07It's an extension of bud in the embryo that buds off the brain.
01:07:11And there's a little window that develops in the skin called the cornea of the eye.
01:07:16Isn't that great?
01:07:17The eyeball is located precisely where a clear window develops in the skin, so we may look through.
01:07:23It's sensitive to light over a range of about 10 billion to 1.
01:07:29That is from the brightest thing we can see, maybe a sun-drenched snowscape,
01:07:36down to as little as a single photon of light.
01:07:40That's our smallest unit of light.
01:07:42And of course, everywhere you look, the focus is automatic.
01:07:45And the two eyes look at the same spot, wherever we look.
01:07:48It's like somebody with a pair of six guns that can fire the guns.
01:07:52And everywhere they shoot, the two bullets make one hole.
01:07:56Instantly, everywhere.
01:07:57And that's what our eyes are doing.
01:07:59Everywhere we look, they converge in the same point.
01:08:01If they were off by just a degree or so, you'd see double.
01:08:05Everywhere I look, I see overwhelming evidence of the handiwork of God.
01:08:09And surely, when man denies that, he's without excuse, just as Romans 1, verse 20 tells us.
01:08:19Even more mind-boggling, the Lord has designed all man's senses to be intimately integrated.
01:08:26When we see food, our stomachs may growl and our mouths salivate.
01:08:31Upon hearing the voice of an old friend, our hearts may leap for joy.
01:08:36And one smell of grandma's cooking can invoke memories from years past.
01:08:42However, the wonder of our physical sophistication pales in comparison to our spiritual nature.
01:08:49Man is self-conscious and able to contemplate himself.
01:08:54Man was created a rational being, endowed with the faculty of reason and the ability to learn.
01:09:01Man was given the capacity to retain past experiences.
01:09:05And his memory makes it possible for him to reflect on the goodness of God.
01:09:11According to the Genesis record, man was made in the image of God.
01:09:16That means he had attributes, abilities, capacities that God had given him.
01:09:20When we read the Genesis 4 record, which is after the fall, we still see these abilities and capacities.
01:09:27For example, man could build cities.
01:09:29He could make and play musical instruments.
01:09:32He understood metallurgy.
01:09:33He understood agriculture.
01:09:35He could write poetry and literature.
01:09:37As well, man was created with a spiritual component.
01:09:41Man had a free will to choose, had a conscience.
01:09:44So we see God created man unique from the rest of the creation.
01:09:50There are many differences between mankind and animals.
01:09:54One verse that comes to mind is over in Ecclesiastes 3, verse 11.
01:09:59It's the verse that says we are special, that God has put eternity in our hearts.
01:10:05That is, we have a concept of history of the past and present and future.
01:10:10This is different from animals that live for today.
01:10:12We are a special creation.
01:10:16Another wonderful gift of the creator to man is emotion.
01:10:21It gives him color and richness, feeling, and the capacity for joy and laughter.
01:10:29Only man of all creatures on earth can appreciate an inspiring symphony
01:10:35or rejoice in the beauty of a sunset.
01:10:39And man alone is a free moral agent, responsible to God and to society.
01:10:47The only
01:10:48It gives him power to be perfect.
01:10:55So if you have a stranger to the world, it's a great world to see you.
01:10:55It's a great truth.
01:10:57So here's the fact that you're a person.
01:10:58It's a great focus on life and it's a great world to see you.
01:11:01It's a great idea.
01:11:08It's a great idea.
01:11:11you have a good city for this life.
01:11:11You have some soullering and a great350.
01:11:11You have always wanted to have a beautiful place.
01:11:11It's a great idea.
01:11:12You have to have a great idea.
01:11:18In addition to being almighty and all-wise, the Bible states that God is completely holy.
01:11:25He always does what is right.
01:11:27God cannot lie, he cannot sin, and he is always faithful and true.
01:11:33How can we know that God is just?
01:11:36Scripture explains that the Lord has written his law on every heart.
01:11:40The Creator's holy nature is revealed to every man through conscience.
01:11:44Conscience is our God-given knowledge of right and wrong.
01:11:48Therefore, man knows that his Creator is both the moral lawgiver and the judge.
01:12:08Do you have a conscience?
01:12:10I believe I do have a conscience.
01:12:12Do you believe that everyone has a conscience?
01:12:15Absolutely.
01:12:15But do you have a conscience?
01:12:16Yes.
01:12:18Where did it come from?
01:12:19I don't know.
01:12:20The Bible makes it very clear that the knowledge of God is written on our hearts, even that knowledge of
01:12:26right and wrong.
01:12:27Have you ever told a lie?
01:12:28Yes.
01:12:29What does that make you?
01:12:30A liar.
01:12:31A liar, right?
01:12:32Have you ever stolen anything?
01:12:34Yes.
01:12:35What does that make you?
01:12:35A thief.
01:12:36A thief.
01:12:36Just supposing you're in a shop, in a store someplace, and there's something that you really need, and it's just
01:12:43sitting there and nobody's around watching it.
01:12:45You say to yourself, I haven't brought my wallet, forgot that.
01:12:49Nobody looking in the pocket.
01:12:51And it goes in, you walk out, nobody challenges you, and you've got away with it.
01:12:56Inside, what are you thinking?
01:12:58At night, when you go to bed, what are you thinking?
01:13:01And I think anybody knows fully well that the thoughts will go round in the head, I stole that.
01:13:06Inside, this is a conscience.
01:13:09Have you always obeyed your God-given conscience?
01:13:13No.
01:13:13Have you ever used your Creator's name, God who gave you taste buds and eyesight and every good gift, ever
01:13:18used His name as a curse word?
01:13:21Yeah.
01:13:22I have.
01:13:22Jesus said, you've heard it said you should not commit adultery, but I say to you, if you look at
01:13:27a girl lustfully, you commit adultery in your heart.
01:13:31Have you ever looked at a girl lustfully?
01:13:33Okay, so you broke that commandment, right?
01:13:35Yeah.
01:13:35God says He has written His law in every human conscience, so they are all without excuse.
01:13:44Everyone knows that He's a sinner.
01:13:46Everyone knows He's broken God's laws.
01:13:48Everyone knows He hasn't done right.
01:13:50We have the ability to know right or wrong.
01:13:53We have the ability to know what is good, and God also must know.
01:13:57He must be the ultimate revelation of morality, of what's right, of what's good.
01:14:02Because how will we know what was right or wrong?
01:14:04Yeah, I know.
01:14:04It's Him.
01:14:05It's amazing.
01:14:05The fact that every man knows right from wrong, what does that tell us about God's character and nature?
01:14:11That He's just.
01:14:13If God were to judge based on the holy standard, would you be guilty or innocent?
01:14:18Guilty.
01:14:19So if you were guilty as a blaspheming, lying thief, on the day of judgment, would God send you to
01:14:25heaven or hell based on the Ten Commandments?
01:14:30I would definitely go to hell.
01:14:32Do we have to face the almighty judge?
01:14:35And yes, we do.
01:14:37And yes, we do.
01:14:38And that being so, we would be found guilty of whatever we've done.
01:14:41The conscience tells me there is someone to whom I am accountable.
01:14:46He is my creator.
01:14:49And I know that I have not lived up to His standards.
01:14:53Have you ever used God's name in vain?
01:14:56Like, oh my God.
01:14:59Yeah.
01:15:00Can you think of a time when your conscience just screamed at you?
01:15:03Something you did in the past where it's like, Alan, don't do that.
01:15:07Or, Alan, you shouldn't have done that.
01:15:09Yeah.
01:15:11If you can remember that, do you think our creator can?
01:15:15Yes.
01:15:15Right?
01:15:16Do you think conscience tells us we need a savior?
01:15:19Yes.
01:15:20And you know that it took a God of personal love and concern, but of unbending justice.
01:15:31It's the only way it can be.
01:15:33We can't get Him to change His laws.
01:15:36He's the only one who could have put that conscience within us so that we experience.
01:15:41It's really God that we're experiencing through our conscience.
01:15:48Though creation shows forth God's wonders, it presents a mixed message.
01:15:54For, in the midst of such beauty and order, we observe disease, decay, and death.
01:16:01Not surprisingly, it is the Bible alone which explains this apparent contradiction.
01:16:06In the beginning, God created everything perfect.
01:16:09However, man was given a free will and a choice.
01:16:13Sadly, he chose to rebel against his creator.
01:16:18As God warned Adam, sin resulted in suffering and death.
01:16:22The curse described in Genesis affected all creation, and today we see the horrible results.
01:16:29However, there's good news.
01:16:31Before time began, God had a plan to rescue mankind.
01:16:35Because the penalty for sin is death, the creator came to earth as a man, lived a sinless life,
01:16:42and died to pay the penalty for our sins.
01:16:44He then rose from the dead and offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who will trust Him.
01:17:05As this film has been portraying in the creation, we see the wisdom and power, the wonder of God,
01:17:13His concern for His creatures.
01:17:15But you can't look at it without realizing something's wrong.
01:17:20It's like we have a memory deep within our conscience of a time when there was a paradise, and it's
01:17:29lost.
01:17:30God made a beautiful world.
01:17:31It was perfect to start with.
01:17:33But because of man's sin, now it's a groaning world.
01:17:36So we see beauty, and we see groaning, and we see ugliness, but it all seems contradictory.
01:17:43But that's only because it is a fallen world.
01:17:47It's so easy to see the God of wonders just on a stroll through whatever neighborhood we might live in.
01:17:54You know, birds fluttering overhead, the majestic beauty of flowers, the glory of a sunset.
01:18:02And yet many of you may be troubled like I was as a young man, trained in biology.
01:18:07Well, what about all the birth defects?
01:18:09Disease, disaster, fires, floods, famines, plagues.
01:18:13Where is God in all of these things?
01:18:15Is that the God of wonders who did that?
01:18:18The Bible tells us quite clearly, no.
01:18:21The God of wonders is the one who created the wonders we see, the marvels of beauty and design.
01:18:29Unfortunately, man rebelled against God.
01:18:32But what God did was absolutely phenomenal.
01:18:35Even though we rebelled against Him, and we don't deserve to even live, we don't deserve existence,
01:18:41He stepped into history to become one of us.
01:18:43Jesus said, God so loved the world.
01:18:48So loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son.
01:18:51Would you give your Son, knowing that He's going to be hated, persecuted, and scourged, beaten, mocked, and crucified?
01:19:00God knew what would happen.
01:19:02And I often think of Jesus.
01:19:04He knew from eternity past what He would face.
01:19:09Someone might wonder how a man who walked the dusty roads of Israel so long ago could possibly save us
01:19:18from death.
01:19:19How could He possibly raise us to new life?
01:19:22But remember, the Christ who died for us is the creator of life.
01:19:28What an awesome God, the fact that He would actually step into history to pay the penalty for our sin
01:19:33and then offer a free gift of salvation to save us from what we did.
01:19:39You see, in actuality, we committed high treason against the God of creation.
01:19:43And yet, He loved us so much, He stepped into history to provide the payment for our sins
01:19:50so that we can spend eternity with Him.
01:19:53Wow, what an awesome God.
01:19:55According to the scriptures, this great creator is the one who not only made everything,
01:20:00but who redeemed us from our sins.
01:20:02Jesus Christ came to this earth, lived a perfect life in our place,
01:20:07died upon the cross, His blood was shed.
01:20:09Three days later, He's resurrected.
01:20:11He lives today.
01:20:12And whosoever believes in Him and acknowledges Him
01:20:15and acknowledges who we are and what we've done
01:20:17and asks for forgiveness and repent from our sins
01:20:21can enter into a relationship with the creator that will last for eternity.
01:20:26This is the good news.
01:20:29Perhaps the most wondrous of all the aspects of creation
01:20:32is that God would not leave us alone.
01:20:35He sent His own Son to restore things,
01:20:38and we look forward to His coming again,
01:20:40when once again the wolf and the lamb will lie down together.
01:20:44They'll not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain,
01:20:47but the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord
01:20:50as the waters cover the sea.
01:20:52That marvelous passage in Isaiah.
01:20:55Wow, God's redeeming love.
01:20:57That's the greatest wonder of all.
01:21:02Truly, our Creator is the God of wonders,
01:21:05and the greatest wonder is His immeasurable love.
01:21:09Scripture states that God is love,
01:21:11and He demonstrated this love toward us
01:21:14by stepping down from heaven to offer His life
01:21:17so that we might be reconciled to Him forever.
01:21:21Jesus Christ is the Creator.
01:21:23On the cross, He bore our sins
01:21:25and then rose from the dead.
01:21:27The Lord now offers everlasting life
01:21:31to all who will turn from their sins
01:21:33and trust in Him personally.
01:21:35By placing your faith in Jesus Christ,
01:21:38you can enter into a relationship
01:21:40with the Creator of the universe
01:21:42that will last forever.
01:21:44This is His free gift and desire for you.
01:21:48To God alone who does such great wonders
01:21:52be glory, thanksgiving, and honor forever.
01:22:02Bless the Lord, all my soul.
01:22:05Bless His holy, His wonderful name.
01:22:10Bless the Lord, all my soul.
01:22:20Bless His holy, His wonderful name.
01:22:26He poured out His mercy on those who would fear Him.
01:22:30He poured out His love, His forgiveness of sin.
01:22:34Bless the Lord, all my soul.
01:22:37Bless His holy, His wonderful name.
01:22:42Bless His holy, His holy, His holy name.
01:22:54Sing to Him, a new tune.
01:22:56Sing to Him from the deep of your soul.
01:23:02Meditate on His word.
01:23:04Don't forget how His trust made you whole.
01:23:10Your Creator is worthy of grace.
01:23:14Your sustainer, His border, His grace.
01:23:17He poured out His mercy on those who would fear Him.
01:23:21He poured out His love, His forgiveness of sin.
01:23:25Bless the Lord, all my soul.
01:23:28Bless His holy, His wonderful name.
01:23:37Tell the lost of His love.
01:23:39Let Him shine through each world that you've saved.
01:23:45Trust completely, no breath.
01:23:47He will guide you each step of the way.
01:23:53You are His, nothing may come between.
01:23:57You are His, you belong to the King.
01:24:01Remember and cling to the promise He gave us.
01:24:04That nothing ever can separate us from the love of us.
01:24:11Say, oh, Christ Jesus, oh, bless His name.
01:24:16Remember and cling to the promise He gave us.
01:24:20That nothing ever can separate us from the love of us.
01:24:27Say, dear, grace Jesus, oh, bless His name.
01:24:30Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.
01:24:32Cry, dear, love of us.
01:24:34Say, dear, grace Jesus, oh, bless His name.
01:24:37He is falling, He is falling.
01:24:40From the love of us.
01:24:42Say, dear, grace Jesus, oh, bless His name.
01:24:45Say, dear, grace Jesus, oh, bless His name.
