00:0212 months on from a landmark report.
00:05An important day, I think, for our state.
00:07The Government unveiling a five-year plan to implement 88 of the 136 recommendations from its Domestic Violence Royal Commission,
00:16including introduction of laws restricting delivery of alcohol to between 10am and 10pm,
00:22and mandating a two-hour safety pause between sale and delivery.
00:26The regulation of that practice has not kept pace with the service.
00:32The move welcomed by victim survivors and advocates.
00:36I absolutely believe that the changes will make a difference,
00:40particularly for women and children living in fear at home when alcohol is delivered.
00:45Common sense regulation around what is a product at the moment that is causing a lot of harm in our
00:51community.
00:51But the bottelos aren't on board, saying the solution isn't targeted enough and could do more harm than good.
00:58It's going to displace intoxicated individuals to other environments in search of more alcohol,
01:06including potentially hopping in the car while intoxicated.
01:11Beyond the plan, another 45 Royal Commission recommendations have been accepted in principle by the Government,
01:16but there's no timeline for their implementation.
01:19The sector still pushing for some measures to be brought forward.
01:23Some of those wouldn't necessarily be particularly resource intensive.
01:28Making sure that it's resourced and thought through about how we go about doing that is the work that needs
01:32to be done.
01:32More steps on the long road to change.
