00:00this doesn't sound good john uh some dispatches from train from training camp uh joint practice
00:06between the texans and the raiders and jayden higgins the wide receiver who we've we've kind
00:12of gushed about because he has shown a level of development that you were hoping between years one
00:16and year two uh he was down after uh the red zone portion of practice i've seen it described as
00:23he
00:23was not able he was able to get up under his own power did not use the cart headed back
00:27in to uh
00:28into the facility for evaluation and i'm guessing that would end his day like i can't imagine they'd
00:35be like all right everything's fine getting back out here i think that they work with level of
00:37caution there but him getting up walking off under his own power i imagine is a good thing however
00:43oh boy that could have gotten scary very quickly well we need to find out you know exactly you know
00:49what they what they can tell us sure uh all i'm i told you this year in the break when
00:54we saw this
00:54as long as it's not lower body you know you got to feel a little better uh about things so
00:59uh
00:59getting up under his own power is a very good sign yeah um sounds like cj's been sharp out there
01:04uh but that again is working off of kind of general conversations that are happening from camp we will
01:09have at noon our guy uh b scott brandon scott to give us a little bit more of his you
01:15know i guess
01:16first point of view or what's the right word firsthand uh i guess account of what happened out there
01:21there we go that's the way that you get to it you like pick sixes um depends on who yes
01:26it depends
01:27on who's picking i asked it like that on purpose jalen petrie pick six off of uh quarterback fernando
01:33mendoza who by the way mendoza apparently by most accounts has been looking pretty good yeah it sounds
01:39like the quarterbacks have been quarterbacking out there including tom brady's out there and uh
01:43supposedly he's dapped up cj do you think that any of the powers transfer by by a touch you want
01:47to see
01:48how the offense is supposed to work look over there the guy with the sunglasses
01:51that that's the that's how we want the offense to work all right but uh from talking about one
01:56wide receiver to another uh keenan allen veteran wide receiver has uh has signed on one year
02:02eight million dollar contract of memory serves largely incentive laden to play with the colts
02:08and so i mean this is going to i think this adds to what they're doing i have questions as
02:13to what it
02:14means about what they've done but is are the colts the afc south team that we're sleeping on in your
02:19opinion well we we don't talk about them hardly at all you know jaguars for obvious reasons titans
02:25you know you know a little bit here and there with with the colts we've we've just been like oh
02:30i don't
02:31know you know to be determined i don't know if we have confidence in uh uh in daniel jones uh
02:36i don't
02:37know about uh you know sauce gardener and uh some of these other things that that are going on i
02:43just
02:43feel as if they're kind of quietly going under the radar here gave jonathan taylor the big contract
02:49so they clearly have confidence on that alec pierce uh who knows if he had that other you know uh
02:55injection in his in his ankle he hasn't been participating but they don't seem to be too
03:00concerned they think he's gonna gonna be good to go by the start of the season yeah but it seems
03:04like
03:04he's gonna miss sometimes it seems like he's gonna miss the remainder of training camp for sure that's
03:09what i've basically i saw that report yesterday as well um so but if if alec pierce if they feel
03:15confident he'll be here he'll he'll start the regular season then you have jonathan taylor happy
03:19and paid and the other thing i was thinking about daniel jones has kind of been a miracle story he
03:26really has like he's participated in everything at training camp and looked pretty dang good
03:31uh by reports you know according to reports anyway um it's just an interesting thing
03:38if you look at their offensive weapons their offensive weapons i think clearly are the best
03:45in the afc including the jaguars i mean in the afc south oof that's interesting jonathan taylor who's
03:51better jonathan taylor uh no he's he's clearly the best running back in in the division then
03:56tyler warren i imagine is is one of those dudes that you look best tight in the division in the
04:01division then you got the the receivers with alec pierce if he's healthy of course uh don't they have
04:06downs they do have josh downs but that's that's an upside play and i and i it makes me downs
04:11and
04:12alec pierce come into question for me when keenan allen is brought in because i and now you added
04:16keenan allen right and keenan allen i mean look it's it's not it's not the same keenan the name
04:21can sometimes fool us but obviously he can be useful i do wonder how much keenan allen being added
04:26especially at this late stage of what's happening here i know that they had been having conversations
04:30the colts and keenan uh for weeks how much of this does it feel like a recognition of alec pierce
04:36has not
04:36been out here and we need to have another opera another option considering that it's taking a
04:42while for him to make his way back out here longer than what was previously expected no i think it's
04:45part of it but is there a better you know if if obviously it's a big if but if alec
04:51pierce comes
04:52back and you have downs and pierce and keenan allen and jonathan taylor and tyler warren that's that's a
04:59pretty good arsenal right there do y'all feel like those set of weapons are better than what the texans
05:04oh
05:04yes yes all due respect i'm not certain yeah i'm not certain really truly i know alec pierce
05:11is a burner absolutely is solid can keenan keenan allen serve the same role as michael pitman
05:17previously did and i think that that it's it's a possibility with on 100 percent of josh downs
05:21take a step forward i think there's a possibility for them to be a similar type offense as last year
05:26and as you remember early on it was good but i think all of that hinges on the quarterback daniel
05:30jones and that i'm not certain about i think that there was a level of turning back into a pumpkin
05:34that happened last year there were a lot of injuries right um but no i i it really also hinges
05:41on this
05:41side for the texans on what does what does uh jayden higgins look like in all reality right and uh
05:47how how useful is the moving around that they're actually going to do actually let's be honest
05:51some of some of this is really how much protection is is going to be had by the offensive line
05:55to
05:56give them opportunity to do anything remotely interesting down the field outside of just
06:00you know in breakers and sit down routes that are fine for picking up six and seven yards at a
06:06time
06:06but not necessarily doesn't really give you the opportunity to have the explosives that make
06:10uh passing offense really uh really viable what do you think figgy because i think and look i think
06:15the texas defense can stop anybody so it's not that all i'm saying is i think they're being a little
06:19slept on they have the best running back in the division they have the best tight end in the division
06:25arguably a receiving core that you can put up against anybody in the division and i think i
06:29think that we might be stretching there honestly those three guys yeah i think we might be stretching
06:33there are you think the texans are better than those three as we sit here today not projection
06:37not i think this or i think that but what they've done yes i mean josh down hasn't done that
06:43much
06:43and keenan allen i think you're also we're again we're doing uh we're doing a lifetime achievement
06:47award with keenan allen keenan allen isn't the same player alec pierce yeah alec pierce is a great
06:53and keenan allen and downs but i feel but i feel like even like i feel like reggie making some
06:58really good points but you could kind of say that with the texans too man like like jayden higgins i
07:03think we probably all think he's gonna take the next step but we haven't seen it yet that was my
07:08point like not not projected because i can project as well with jayden higgins i like what i'm seeing
07:12who doesn't yeah yeah and then also i mean i know reggie mentioned daniel jones i mean we got a
07:17big
07:17question with cj stroud too yeah like is he during the regular season i think so it been i mean
07:23they've
07:24been talking about it all over the place how many catches you think keenan allen had last season
07:28well i just looked it up 81 yeah 81 i mean i i all i'm saying is i think they're
07:37being slept on a
07:38little bit i have confidence in the texans defense against them and we've seen it but i think running
07:43back tight end and receiver room they they are better than than the tex yeah i think it's honestly
07:49i think it's kind of close i will give probably the edge to the coach because of the running back
07:55position i think that that's going to help them out a lot yeah yeah i i do think that this
08:01does help
08:01them at least look a little bit more similar to what they were last year assuming that there's a level
08:06of health that we're not certain about at least for the start of the season and i don't know as
08:10as
08:10this continue to go on a go rather the alec pierce injury has like stretched further and further and
08:16now seemingly possibly into the regular season which makes week three a little interesting right
08:20not just uh even if he's there whether he's there or not but how how uh effective is he when
08:25he
08:25returns i think becomes a question i don't know i just i i don't have it in me to be
08:29afraid of the
08:30indianapolis colts i might have to eat my words when we get to week three but uh yeah i don't
08:34have it
08:34in me to be afraid of the indianapolis colts because the colts that we ultimately saw when they settled
08:38after after you know people did not have a great idea of what to expect of them early on in
08:42the
08:42season and it felt like they were running at like a maximum of what they were possibly capable of
08:47did not was not a scary uh colt yeah i was gonna say we said the same thing last year
08:51like we did
08:52not expect the coast to start off what seven and one and their offense was probably one of the best
08:58offenses in the league you think you capture you think you're capturing a lightning in a bottle again
09:02well i'm not saying capturing lightning in a bottle what i'm saying is is it lightning in a bottle
09:07when you look at their production even even though they did you know come back down to earth a little
09:11bit yeah i look i look i'm not i ain't gonna say i'm afraid of the colts or anything like
09:15that but
09:16i'm definitely not sleeping on them like i did last year right and i think the one thing that
09:21maybe this is ultimately because i think it's fair right this should be still a pretty solid
09:25offense right i've always liked shane steik and his ability to drop offense the question that i then
09:30have is how much am i supposed to care about them when i'm looking at this defense and they're getting
09:33right that's my thing i like this defense against anybody but the whole you know premise of this
09:39was i think we're sleeping on the colts still because they're not even really mentioned you
09:43know with with the texans and the jaguars yeah no no that part i agree because we is texans and
09:49jags
09:49and i don't think nobody really talking about the titans as much yeah but i think that's to your point
09:54lopez i think i think we are kind of sleeping on them a little bit but i don't think it
09:58means they're
09:58going to win a division or anything right interestingly enough like with the afc south
10:03which we just talked about the colts i am very intrigued to see what the jaguars look like in
10:08their next preseason game especially because have you noticed that uh patrick mccari has been injured
10:13for them uh one of their one of their really important guards offensive linemen they've had a
10:17few injuries on the offensive line and i don't know exactly how they come together i don't know
10:21mccari's going to miss a lot of regular season time if at all but that's an offense that i know
10:27is
10:27the same as last year but maybe they don't have as much of an opportunity to take a step forward
10:31because their offensive line like it's been shambled over the last week or so yes trying to get guys in
10:36and obviously i don't i don't think that that's a good thing in camp to give yourself a foundation
10:39to get better you know so some of the offensive uh upside that we were looking at in jacksonville
10:44might not be there in the same to the same degree because they've been fighting just to get
10:48their offensive line together early on
