00:00Tell me Franklin. Welcome back. Today I want to talk about something very simple.
00:06Starting. Because sometimes starting is the hardest part. I have this problem too.
00:12I want to read. I want to learn English. I want to work out. I want to make videos.
00:18I have many things I want to do and I say today I will do it. But then I do
00:25nothing.
00:25I use my phone. I watch videos. I say maybe tomorrow. And the funny thing is I still think
00:33about the thing I need to do. I know I need to start. But I don't. Why? I think I
00:39know the reason.
00:41Starting feels uncomfortable. When something is only in my head everything is perfect. I can imagine
00:48doing it very well. But when I start I can make mistakes. I can feel tired. I can feel stupid.
00:55I can be bad at it. And I don't like that feeling. So sometimes I don't start. I wait
01:02for the perfect moment. I wait for motivation. I wait for more time. I wait until I know exactly
01:09what to do. But the perfect moment does not come. So I started to think about this in a
01:17different way. I don't ask how can I do this perfectly. Now I ask how can I start. That's
01:24all. If I want to read I can read for five minutes. If I want to learn English I can
01:32speak
01:32for five minutes. Even if my English is bad. If I want to work out I can do a little.
01:39If
01:40I want to make a video I can make one bad video. It doesn't need to be perfect. It just
01:46needs
01:47to exist. Because a bad video is better than no video. A bad workout is better than no workout.
01:55Five minutes of English is better than zero minutes. And I learned something important.
02:00The first goal is not to be good. The first goal is to start. Because after I start things become
02:09easier. The first minute is hard. The first step is hard. But after that I am already moving. And
02:16sometimes I don't need motivation. I just need to move. I don't need to feel ready. I just need to
02:24begin. And this is something I want to remember. I can do it badly. I can make mistakes. I can
02:30be slow.
02:31I can feel nervous. That's okay. Because I can improve later. First I need to start. Maybe this
02:40is the problem for many of us. We want our first try to look like our hundredth try. But that
02:46is
02:46impossible. The first video will not be perfect. The first workout will not be perfect. The first
02:53English conversation will not be perfect. And that's okay. The first try is not for perfection.
02:59The first try is for learning. So if there is something you want to do, don't think about the
03:06whole thing. Don't think about one hour. Don't think about one year. Don't think about being
03:13perfect. Think about the first step. Open the book. Put on your shoes. Open the computer. Say the first
03:19word. Record the first video. Just start. Even if you do it badly. Because something very simple
03:27is true. You can fix something you started. But you cannot fix something you never started. So
03:33today, I have one message for you. You don't need to do it perfectly. You don't need to feel ready.
03:40You
03:40don't need motivation. Just start. Start small. Start badly. Start afraid. But start. Because maybe
03:49the person you want to become starts with one very small action today. So tell me, Franklin,
03:57just start. And I'll see you in the next one. Keep going.
