00:00As the war escalated, Raiden was identified as one of the 21 most dangerous people to the Dutch
00:06state. Consequently, he was arrested by the Dutch government on 3 May 1940 and held in a prison in
00:14the village of Old Gensplat. His detention was brief, as Nazi Germany invaded the Netherlands
00:20the following week and the Dutch government capitulated on 14 May. On 15 May, Raiden was
00:27released and returned to journalism. He continued as editor-in-chief of Het Nationale Dachblatts
00:34until December 1940. While Raiden continued his work for the regime, Nazi control over the
00:40Netherlands deepened, and so too did the persecution of its Jewish population.
