In this scene, Stefan and Elena are walking outside and having a serious conversation about what to do next concerning Alaric (who is possessed by his alter ego, Dark Alaric) and also about the Originals. Because they had a plan about killing any one Original to kill them all.

Elena argues that since Rebekah has Damon so our next point should be finding him.

Stefan disagrees and resists the idea, explaining that if his brother, Damon, knew we are missing this second chance to kill these Originals, he would completely lose his mind.

Elena pushes back, arguing that what Damon would want and what they actually need to do to protect people are two different things, pointing out that Damon would do anything to save her if roles were reversed.

Ultimately, when Elena didn’t answer to help him pursue this plan, Stefan tells her he will figure it out and handle it on his own.

The truth is, this team was incomplete without Damon, and Stefan had to do what Elena wanted. They couldn’t complete this mission without Damon.
