00:00An AirAsia flight bound for Shenzhen, China, had to make a turn back to Kuala Lumpur International
00:10Airport 2 shortly after take-off due to a reported engine fire.
00:14Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Operations Director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar
00:20said the department was alerted to the emergency landing at 10.37 pm on Wednesday.
00:26A fire rescue tender vehicle with nine personnel was immediately dispatched to the scene.
00:32Flight AK128, which took off at 9.59 pm with 171 passengers and crew on board, landed safely
00:40at KLIA-2 at 12.08 am, with the fire already extinguished.
00:46According to the operations officer, the Airbus A320-216 experienced a pneumatic ducting burst,
00:54but the on-board halon system successfully contained the fire before landing.
00:59Ahmad Mukhlis added that firefighters assisted in evacuating passengers and ensured no further
01:05fire hazards.
