This video will help you start trading step by step
Transcript
00:00I made over $70,000 this month alone from day trading.
00:04Just today, I made $16,000 trading, which I think is crazy.
00:09If you would have told me five years ago when I first started doing this,
00:13that I will be seeing days and months like this,
00:15I would have told you that you lost your mind.
00:17One thing that I realized as somebody who now teaches people how to do exactly what I do
00:21is that people just don't know where to start.
00:23And so that's why in this video, I wouldn't be going over how I would get started
00:27to options trading in 2026, the full thing.
00:30I'm not here to sell y'all anything.
00:31I'm not here to lie to y'all because I feel like, I don't know y'all.
00:33I just feel like trading could just be so hard sometimes.
00:36And I don't mean hard from the perspective, like the act of it is hard,
00:39but people make it seem so much more serious.
00:42Granted, it is very serious trade and invest at your own risk,
00:45but we don't have to use all the big words.
00:46Let's break it down.
00:47Like we are actually kindergartners and I know y'all are here for that and not me.
00:51So let's get into the video.
00:52Okay.
00:53So fun fact about me.
00:54I was actually in school to be a teacher before I decided to do day trading full time.
00:58So one thing you're going to learn is I love a PowerPoint.
01:01So we're going to be working off of that today so that we can all be on the same page,
01:05but don't worry.
01:05We'll get into some charts too.
01:07Today, we're going to get into what is trading?
01:09Because if you even want to learn what options trading is or futures trading or Forex or cryptocurrency,
01:14any market, you have to understand what it is that we're actually doing here.
01:18All right.
01:18So for this class, here is no experience needed.
01:22I'm not asking for you guys to have a finance degree.
01:24I'm not asking for you guys to have some Wall Street background.
01:27I am literally just a 23 year old girl from Chicago.
01:30Okay.
01:30I would like to think that I've done well for myself doing this.
01:33So hopefully you guys have the same curiosity and willingness to learn that I did when I first started.
01:38This is going to be a safe, judgment-free learning space.
01:41There's no stupid questions here.
01:42So if you guys want to comment something down below, if I know the answer,
01:46I will make sure you guys understand that.
01:48But we're going to be understanding the foundations of trading.
01:50I am not going to sugarcoat anything to you guys.
01:53I pride myself on that, by the way, being a strict teacher,
01:56because I feel like people just try to sugarcoat trading.
01:58And what do you gain from that?
01:59All right.
01:59Before we get into what is trading, we have to talk about what trading is not.
02:03Trading is not a get rich quick scheme.
02:06So if you're somebody who feels like, oh, I need to turn $50 into 5 million by next week,
02:11day trading is just not going to be for you.
02:13Like you would be better off at a casino and going gambling.
02:16And I think the reason why a lot of people get discouraged with day trading
02:19is because they come into it feeling like, oh, I'm going to make so much money
02:23and I'm going to, you know, start all of this in two weeks.
02:27And so by two weeks later, when they spent $6,000 on somebody's course
02:30and they haven't made any money, they're like, oh, trading is a scam.
02:33Oh, I don't want to do this anymore.
02:35And that's great.
02:36And that's fine and all.
02:37But this is not what trading is about.
02:39Trading is about executing, seeing your setup, trading the same setup all the same time.
02:44Right.
02:45Trading is also not a race.
02:46You don't become a great trader in one business day, not a month.
02:50Some people, not even a year.
02:51Do not get discouraged a week out.
02:53Think of it this way, right?
02:54Like if you were in college and you were trying to earn your degree,
02:57I'm not going to get discouraged if I don't have my degree in two days.
03:01I understand it's going to take me four years to get my degree.
03:04So with that being said, please, please, please give yourself time to learn.
03:09As somebody who does have a trading group, I have a discord, by the way, you guys should check it
03:12out.
03:12Um, I see a lot of people come in there and they'll always be like, oh my goodness, I've been
03:17here for two months.
03:18I'm so discouraged.
03:19Like I just, I'm not where I want to be yet.
03:21I'm like two months.
03:22Do you guys think if trading was so easy to where if you start for two months, now you're a
03:27millionaire,
03:27everybody and their mom wouldn't be doing it.
03:30You get what I'm trying to say.
03:31Anyways, trading is also not a guarantee based off of how much money you spend.
03:35I run into a lot of people who spend all this money on courses.
03:39$5,000 here, $10,000 here, they'll spend $500 a month on discords.
03:44All that I think is crazy, whatever, not to each their own, but they will spend that much money
03:49and think because they spent that much, they're guaranteed to make money from trading.
03:53Okay, so what is trading, right?
03:55Trading is the act of buying and selling financial assets like stocks, options, futures,
03:59with the goal of making a profit from price movement.
04:02So think of it this way, right?
04:03You go to a yard sale, you find something valuable for cheap,
04:07and then you sell it for more than you paid.
04:08That's essentially what trading is.
04:10Like if I were to go buy some sneakers for $200, and then I sell them for $250,
04:15because they're more valuable now, that's what you're doing when you're trading.
04:19Unlike investing where you buy something and you're holding it for years,
04:22trading is about catching shorter term moves.
04:25You may hold a position, meaning a trade, for minutes, hours, days, or a few weeks.
04:30So you're not buying and holding forever and ever and ever.
04:33I don't know if you guys have ever heard about long term investing when you guys were watching this video,
04:37but advice that I always see people say is,
04:41if you want to invest long term, invest in companies that you use.
04:44Me personally, I feel like that advice is hot flaming garbage.
04:47And the reason why, I'm not saying just because you like McDonald's, don't go invest in McDonald's,
04:52but there's so much more that goes into long term investing.
04:54You really need to have faith, not personal faith in the company,
04:58but understanding of what goes on behind the scenes.
05:01Example, right?
05:02If you guys are familiar with Southwest Airlines, they used to always have two free bags.
05:06That was their big selling point, like, yay, Southwest free bags.
05:10But then they recently announced they were going to start charging for bags.
05:13And everybody thought to themselves, like, oh my gosh, like,
05:16the stock is going to go down.
05:18I'm going to lose money, whatever.
05:20But the next day, the stock actually ended up going up.
05:22The reason being is because as an investor,
05:25them now charging for bags is going to bring so much more revenue into the company.
05:29When you're looking into long term, and this is, again, just a little sidebar,
05:32think of it from the perspective of an investor and not a consumer.
05:36And that's going to help you figure out where you should be putting your money in long term anyways.
05:40Trading is active.
05:41You are making decisions based off of what the chart is telling you.
05:45You are reading price actions, studying patterns, and executing based on your analysis.
05:49You do not need to be a math genius or have a Wall Street background.
05:53You just need to understand a few key concepts, practice consistently, and manage your risks.
05:57Meaning, don't put everything into one trade.
05:59When people tell me, like, oh my gosh, I lost everything trading,
06:03I'm like, why would you ever put everything into one singular trade?
06:06That doesn't even make sense to me.
06:07The simplest way to think about it is that you are trying to buy low and sell high.
06:11Or sell high and buy low.
06:13That is what it is at its core.
06:14And you can make money both ways.
06:17One of the biggest myths about the stock market is that you can only make money when stocks go up.
06:21That is wrong.
06:22Because in trading, you can profit when prices go up by buying what is called a call option.
06:26A call is basically you saying, I think this stock is going to go up and I want to profit
06:32from that move.
06:33You can also profit when prices go down by buying what is called a put option.
06:37A put is you saying, I think this stock is going to go down.
06:40I want to profit from that drop.
06:42And you're going to notice throughout this presentation and through these slides that I have, y'all,
06:45is that I'm going to have study points at the bottom.
06:48Whether you guys want to come join my academy and learn here,
06:50or you guys want to be YouTube university students,
06:53or y'all want to go on Twitter or Reddit or whatever it is,
06:55I'm going to put study points for you guys so that way you guys can learn on your own and
06:59teach yourself how to trade.
07:00That's how I did.
07:01I taught myself how to trade.
07:02So I'm definitely a big fan of teaching yourself if that is your prerogative.
07:06So for a recap, right, let's think about this.
07:09Our first thought, you know, centered idea as far as trading goes, specifically options trading.
07:14A call means that it's going to go up, right?
07:17A put means you think that it's going to go down.
07:19This means that there is always an opportunity to make money in the market.
07:24No matter what the economy is doing, no matter what the news says, up or down, there is a trade.
07:29So when people are like, oh, well, how do you trade if, you know, what if the stock market crashes
07:34tomorrow?
07:34And what if you lose all your money?
07:36Listen, y'all, hear me when I say this.
07:38If the stock market crashed tomorrow, I would be, I mean, on a beach in Monaco in like the teeniest
07:45tiny bikini enjoying my life.
07:47Champagne, caviar, the whole thing.
07:49That is how much money I would have made.
07:50You know what I'm trying to say?
07:51So please don't panic and think to yourself, oh, if the market goes down, then I'm just out of luck.
07:56You're not.
07:57And that's the thing that I love about trading.
07:59So if we have a word association, that's the way I like to think about it.
08:02Green arrow up equals calls.
08:05Red arrow down equals put.
08:06So up, if you think the stock is going to go up, calls.
08:09If you think it's going to go down, puts.
08:11One of the biggest advantages of trading over traditional investing is that investors can only make money when the stocks
08:16go up.
08:17Traders make money in any direction.
08:20There are two major players in the market, the bull and the bear.
08:23Trading terminology 101.
08:25Bullish means that we're going up.
08:27Bearish means that we are going down.
08:28The way that I like to think about it is if I had a friend, right, and I was going
08:32to call her, I could say I was going to call her up, right?
08:35So calls, up, bullish.
08:38That's what I'm thinking about.
08:39If you think about bulls specifically, like have you ever seen like a little matador and they have the little
08:43red little towel thing and like, you know, they raise it up, the whole thing.
08:48Bulls, if you were to get hit by a bull's horn, you would get struck towards the upside, right?
08:52Whereas bears with their paws, they strike downwards.
08:55So I like to think to myself, bulls up, bears down.
08:59As a girl from Chicago, I say bear down because that's our saying for the Chicago bears.
09:03That's my thought process.
09:04So as far as your word association, it's like green, calls, up, bullish, right?
09:09Other side word association would be like red, puts, bears.
09:14You know what I mean?
09:14That's the word association there.
09:16So the difference between trading and investing, right?
09:19Investing is like when you buy an asset, like a stock.
09:22You're holding onto it for a very long time.
09:24We're talking years and sometimes decades.
09:26You're banking on it going up over time.
09:29Versus trading is when you buy and sell over much shorter timeframes.
09:33You're trying to capture profits from price movements that happen in minutes, hours, days,
09:37et cetera.
09:38Investors ride out the ups and downs of the market.
09:40They're in it for the long haul.
09:42Traders like us and who we're going to be, they try to prop from those ups and downs as
09:46they happen.
09:47Neither of these are better or worse.
09:48They're just different strategies, different goals, different time horizons.
09:52And you can absolutely do both.
09:54You can invest for long-term future while trading for shorter term income.
09:57You don't have to pick one or the other.
09:59But today, specifically, we're going to be focusing on the trading side, specifically
10:02options and futures.
10:03But knowing the difference is important context.
10:06So an options trade, right?
10:08An option is a contract that gives you the right to buy or sell a stock at a certain price
10:12before a certain date.
10:13So options contracts have expirations.
10:15That's very, very important, okay?
10:17You're not buying the actual stock, so I can't keep it until 30 years and then retire off
10:22of an option.
10:22You're just buying the right to, right?
10:24There's two types of options, and that's what we talked about.
10:27So a call means you think the stock price is going to go up, and a put option means you
10:32think the stock price is going to go down.
10:34Options do have expiration dates, unlike stocks, like I said, that you can hold forever.
10:38If you do not use them or sell them before expiration, they just become worthless.
10:42And one of the biggest reasons why beginners are drawn to options is because they cost less
10:47than buying actual shares of a stock.
10:48You can control 100 shares of a stock for a fraction of the cost.
10:52So think of options trading like a coupon, right?
10:55You pay a small fee, which is called the premium, that's how they're priced at, for the right
10:59to buy something at a set price.
11:01If it moves in your favor, that coupon becomes really valuable.
11:04For example, if Apple's trading at $200 and you think it's going to go to at least $210,
11:09you can buy a call option for much less than buying 100 shares of Apple.
11:13And you can sell it for a profit.
11:15And the good part is it doesn't have to hit 210.
11:17From once you enter, as long as all your factors are lining up, you are in profit all the way
11:22up to 210.
11:23Options trading is powerful because it gives you leverage, meaning you can make significant
11:27returns from relatively small price movements.
11:29It works both ways.
11:30So risk management is key because you can also lose a lot if you're not correct.
11:35The study point here, options contracts in Greece.
11:38So if you're taking notes and you're like, hey, what videos do I find next?
11:41That's where I would go.
11:42So the options market is open between 8.30 a.m.
11:45Central to 3 p.m.
11:46Central.
11:47You can calculate for your time zone.
11:48I'm Central, so that's what it is.
11:50With options, you're trading companies like Apple, Amazon, Tesla, etc.
11:55Whereas futures trading, you are trading almost 24 hours a day.
11:58The futures market is open 23 hours from Sunday evening all the way through Friday afternoon.
12:03That is a huge deal, especially if you're someone who works a 9 to 5.
12:08Because of extended hours, you can trade before work, early in the morning, after work in the
12:12evening, or even late at night.
12:14This makes futures much more accessible for people with full-time jobs.
12:18The one downside is it's not always moving.
12:20So you're not always going to see great movement like you would at New York Open at 8.30 in
12:25the
12:25morning, right?
12:26But popular futures markets include the S&P 500, the NASDAQ, gold, oil, and many others.
12:32So you're not trading companies with futures.
12:34They're massive markets, so that's a good thing.
12:36Meaning that there's always people buying and selling.
12:38It's a little bit different structure-wise than options trading, but I would say steady
12:43margin requirements.
12:45Many traders find futures to be more straightforward once they understand the basics.
12:49Contracts are standardized, options are deep, and the price action is clean.
12:53If you've been struggling to trade because your work schedule just does not line up, futures
12:57trading may be the route that you want to take.
12:59So you're probably wondering to yourself, what is the main difference between options and futures?
13:04So we're going to go over a few things.
13:05One, expiration.
13:07Options have set expiration dates and they can expire worthless, and futures also expire
13:11when they roll over into the next contract period, so that market is always available.
13:15Realistically, you will never hold a futures contract until expiration, so you're fine.
13:20Okay, trading hours.
13:21Options trade during regular stock market hours, so from like 9.30 to 4 p.m. Eastern.
13:26Futures trade nearly 24 hours a day, Sunday through Friday.
13:29Futures, I would say, is also better for 9 to 5 workers.
13:32If you can't trade the morning, futures is going to be a better option for you.
13:36Personally, I'm a more options trader, but I have the time in the morning.
13:40So if you have the time, I would definitely say look into options.
13:42But the biggest thing is that both options and futures use the exact same charts and technical
13:48analysis.
13:49The candlesticks, patterns, and trends that you learn apply to both markets.
13:53So if we look right here, this is a stock chart.
13:56The left-hand side is a options trading chart, and the right-hand side is a futures chart.
14:03Now, one thing you're going to notice is that they look the same.
14:06This is what I'm trying to say, is an options chart looks just like a futures chart.
14:10So if you can read a chart for options, you could also trade futures, okay?
14:14So your focus shouldn't necessarily be like, okay, what market is.
14:17I feel like it should more so be focused on charts.
14:20So if you can read a chart, you can trade anything.
14:23Options, futures, crypto, forex, commodities, whatever.
14:27The chart is the chart.
14:28It does not change based on what you are trading.
14:30The same candlestick patterns, the same market structure, the same trends show up on every
14:35single chart across every single market.
14:38Your skill as a trader is reading the chart.
14:40Whether it's Apple options, NASDAQ futures, Bitcoin, that's just the vehicle.
14:45The skill is the same at the end of the day.
14:46That's why learning the fundamentals is so important because once you understand price
14:51action, candlesticks, market structure, which check out my videos, I have some on those,
14:55and trend, you are not limited to just one market.
14:58You need to get a strategy first.
15:00I have seen traders go from options to futures to crypto and back to options all using the
15:05same exact strategy because the charts read the same everywhere.
15:08So please don't stress about choosing the right market right now.
15:11Focus on learning to read a chart, master that skill, and the entire world of trading opens
15:15up to you.
15:16I do want to say this though, before we get into anything else, when you guys are watching
15:20these videos on trading, please don't get in the habit of just watching as many videos
15:25as you can.
15:25If you watch a video on candlestick patterns, open up a chart and see if you can see a candlestick
15:30pattern.
15:31Figure out if you can master that before adding more things because you'll get in the habit
15:35of watching video after video after video.
15:38And then when it's time to actually execute, you're going to feel like, hmm, okay, I don't know
15:42what I'm doing, even though I watched all of these videos.
15:45So please, please, please watch something, check a chart.
15:49Watch something again, check a chart.
15:51Now we're going to get into brokers and platforms.
15:54A brokerage account is the app or platform where you basically place all your trades.
15:58You can't place a trade straight from your bank account, okay?
16:00You deposit money into your brokerage account and that is the money that you use to trade.
16:05When you make a profit, the money goes back into your brokerage account.
16:08And if you lose, obviously it comes out.
16:10Without a brokerage, you literally cannot access the stock market.
16:13You need one to execute any trade, whether it's stocks, options, or futures.
16:18Different brokerages have different fees, features, tools, deposit requirements, etc.
16:22But I want to tell you guys what I use personally.
16:24I really like Webull.
16:26That's the brokerage that I use for options trading.
16:28And it's what I recommend for beginners in the United States.
16:31Because it's commission free.
16:32They don't really charge any fees to trade.
16:34You're not paying a fee to buy.
16:36You're not paying a fee to sell.
16:37It's a big deal when you're first starting out and you don't want to pay a whole bunch of money.
16:41I like it because the interface is clean, it's modern, it's beginner friendly.
16:45And they also offer paper trading, okay?
16:47Paper trading is trading in real time with fake money.
16:50If you do not know what you're doing, do not put money in the stock market.
16:54Like you don't get a gold star for going out there and losing all your money, okay?
16:57Please paper trade first and we'll talk about that next.
17:00But at the bottom of this slide, and I'm going to include it in the description box of this video,
17:04I have a link for Webull.
17:05If you sign up using my link, I think you get a free share.
17:07Or something.
17:08So that'd be fun.
17:09But either way, listen, I'm not the police.
17:11I'm not going to come get y'all.
17:12So to quickly go over paper trading, I don't recommend anyone start with real money.
17:16You can paper trade on your broker until you get the hang of it.
17:20If you can't turn $1,000 to $2,000 on paper, you can't do it with real money.
17:24And taking it a step further, I don't think anyone should start with more than one, maybe $2,000.
17:29Because here's the thing.
17:30Let's say you saved up $10,000 and you're like, okay, I'm ready to invest.
17:33I don't want you to get out there and lose $10,000 of all your hard earned dollars.
17:37You should focus on saying, okay, hey, I'm going to trade with, you know, $1,000, see if I can
17:43make it to so on and so forth.
17:45I've seen people start with as little as $50 to $100.
17:48I recommend at least $300 to start.
17:51If you don't like Webull, they have other brokers, Charles Schwab, Interactive Brokers, if you're international, Robin Hood.
17:57But please hear me.
17:58When applying, you need to go on YouTube and type how to get approved to trade options on whatever platform.
18:04Because if you don't get approved to trade options, it's a whole hassle on trying to upgrade your account.
18:09So watch that video before you apply.
18:11Now, once you have a broker, you need a platform to look at your charts on.
18:14So the platform that I was just showing you guys for the charts, TradingView, this one right here, this is
18:19how I go in and I take all of my trades, right?
18:22So when I'm looking at charts, it's because I'm looking at TradingView.
18:26TradingView is kind of like your, if you were to play video games, right?
18:29When I am looking to run, jump, shoot, whatever in the video game, I have to see it on my
18:35TV, right?
18:36And then I use my, let's say my PlayStation, my, what do you call it?
18:39The controller, right?
18:41Your controller is how you actually go in and run, jump, shoot, whatever in the video game.
18:45So think of it this way.
18:46You're watching charts on your computer and then you take your phone and you enter into your trade.
18:51And that's where you're going to say, hey, I'm going to enter here based off of what it is that
18:56I'm seeing on my chart.
18:57One thing I love about TradingView is it's on desktop and mobile.
19:00So you can study them on your computer or at your phone.
19:03My suggestion is to get the free trial of it before you guys do anything at all.
19:07And so the TradingView website looks like this.
19:10Once you get here, you're going to want to go to get started for free.
19:14Personally, make sure, unless you want to pay the annual fee, they usually go like 70 to 80% off
19:19for Black Friday.
19:20So I would wait for that or some sort of holiday.
19:22Make sure you're on monthly when you get your free trial, because otherwise, once your free trial is over and
19:27you're on annual, it will charge you for the whole entire year.
19:31So me personally, at this point in my trading career, I have the premium plan.
19:35That's just because I like to look at up to eight charts.
19:37Now, if you're like, hey, I'm only looking at two stocks, you should just get the essential plan.
19:41But either way, as you're learning and you're getting your trial, it can't hurt to just get the bigger plan,
19:46in my opinion, and then downgrade once the time comes.
19:50So you would hit here, try free for 30 days, create your account.
19:53That's just my email.
19:54And from there, you'd be able to access TradingView.
19:56Once you're on TradingView, you'll be able to see charts in real time and you'll be able to see what
20:02you need to see to take your trades.
20:04So, for example, here's an example of QQQ's chart.
20:07This is not something that I would be able to just see on my own in real time.
20:11So you're going to want to have a TradingView account to be able to view charts on here.
20:16So I guess the biggest thing, once you guys have that set up, is where do I actually start learning?
20:20And I have a few videos, which I'm going to redirect you guys to, so I don't have a six
20:24-hour-long video here for y'all.
20:26But this is where I would begin.
20:28These three concepts, I think, are the foundation of everybody's strategy in understanding price action.
20:33Number one, candlesticks.
20:35These are the building blocks of every single chart.
20:37If you can't read a candlestick, you can't read a chart.
20:40Everything starts there.
20:41When we look at this chart right here, what you're seeing right here are candlesticks, okay?
20:46These little red and green lines, they all tell a story.
20:49I like to say that candlesticks are a visual representation of a conversation between buyers and sellers.
20:56Number two is market structure.
20:58This is how price moves.
20:59It's a pattern of highs and lows that tell you whether the stock market is going up, going down, or
21:03going sideways, right?
21:05And trend is the overall direction, which kind of complements market structure as well.
21:09These three things, I feel, are the foundation of literally everything else in trading.
21:15Knowing where the market is heading, understanding candles, support and resistance, exits, risk management, they all build off of these
21:21three concepts.
21:22Every single bar you see on a chart is called a candlestick.
21:26Each one represents a specific time period, whether that's one minute, five minutes, one hour, one day, one week.
21:31A candlestick shows you four pieces of information.
21:34The open price, the high price, the low price, and the close price.
21:37I actually did an entire video.
21:39It's called the How to Read Candlesticks for Beginners.
21:41Please go check that out.
21:43It was a really great video.
21:44It goes over everything that I'm going to briefly touch on right now.
21:48So these lines here, these bars are called candlesticks.
21:52So I personally have a video on YouTube that I would recommend that you guys go and check out.
21:56It's called How to Read Candlesticks.
21:58So with your trading journey and as you guys learn and figure out how to get started, you need that
22:02broker, you need a charting platform, and you need to develop a solid foundation.
22:06Before you guys start wondering about, okay, well, what's the strategy?
22:10What's the strategy?
22:11Figure out first, do you know what a candle is?
22:13Because no matter what, hear me when I say this, whatever strategy you use, if you cannot understand what's going
22:18on behind all the lines and indicators, you are going to be so lost.
22:23So essentially, to wrap up, you're not going to learn everything in a day, right?
22:27Please give yourself grace, whether you choose to learn here, whether you're with us on YouTube or in my Discord.
22:33By the way, if you guys want to join the Discord, the link is in the description box below.
22:38Please give yourself grace.
22:39This is a brand new skill, but it can be life-changing.
22:42You don't get a gold star for hopping around 50 trading groups and spending 100K on courses, and you're not
22:47trying to learn for yourself, okay?
22:49I wish you guys the best of luck on your trading journey, and I hope this was a good foundation
22:54and an overview of, okay,
22:55what is trading and how can I get started?
22:58Check out those other videos I recommended for you guys, and if you have any questions about trading,
23:03please leave it down in the comment section below.
23:04I would love to have dialogue with you guys because I love trading, and I love what it did for
23:08my life.
23:09So I will see you guys in the next video.
23:12Let me know what you guys want to see next, and have an amazing rest of your day, y'all,
23:16and happy studying.
23:17Bye, guys.
23:18Bye, guys.
23:18Bye, guys.
