00:00News Influencers vs Traditional Media, which one would you prefer?
00:04I'm Zainab Hamid and as we all know that in today's generation, most of the Gen Z's
00:09and Millennials' source of information is through social media.
00:14And the ones sharing the news are called News Influencers or Journal Influencers.
00:19The News Influencers act as a bridge for making the audience understand the complex
00:27global issues and make them digestible and relatable.
00:31Now 70 to 71% of Indian news consumers rely on social media as their primary source of
00:40information, among which 41% are young adults ranging from 18 to 34 years of age.
00:48Now Influencers usually dive into niche or local civic stories
00:55stories that usually the traditional media neglects or ignores.
01:00Also individual reporters show harsh realities on certain issues than having to face institutional
01:11bias.
01:13While traditional media are also professional and influencers lack that professionalism.
01:23have their own authenticity and relatability which makes the audience trust them.
01:32As everything has their own drawbacks, even Influencers, News Influencers have their own
01:37drawbacks which is they don't double check the information leading to misinformation.
01:44So yeah, which one would you prefer?
