00:00Two London stations are due to reopen on Monday after a three-week engineering closure. Charing
00:06Cross and Waterloo East have been closed since the 26th of July, while engineers carried out
00:12track and infrastructure work. Nearly two kilometres of track are being replaced with
00:17switches and crossings installed between the stations. Work has also included platform and
00:23structural repairs to Hungerford Bridge, which carries the railway over the Thames. Southeastern
00:30says the upgrades are designed to improve reliability. Passengers should check before
00:35travelling though, because the stations will close again over the weekend of the 22nd
00:40and 23rd of August for follow-up work.
