00:00A London commuter train service has been named the most overcrowded of all services in England
00:06and Wales. The Thameslink route from Bedford to Three Bridges recorded the highest load factor
00:12of any service during last autumn's morning rush hour. Several other services linked to London
00:18also featured amongst the busiest, including south-western railway routes into Waterloo
00:23and Thameslink services through the capital. The Department for Transport says that overcrowding
00:29has fallen slightly as more capacity has been added, but pressure remains on services
00:35at peak times. Rail operators say they are monitoring busy routes and making changes to give passengers
00:41more space during their journeys.
