00:02Oh, a total pleasure.
00:03I mean, not just the scripts and the character continuation,
00:07but just to be back with our Ted family
00:10is just gorgeous and as it should be
00:13and feels completely effortless.
00:15Did you feel in your heart of hearts
00:17at the end of season three that that would be the last time
00:20you were playing Rebecca?
00:21No, and it kind of seems to be that everyone else
00:23kind of thought it was, including Jason.
00:26But I was just like, no.
00:29I mean, no, just no.
00:32Because, well, for one,
00:35the writing on seasons one to three was so exemplary.
00:39Why would you not?
00:41And then if you look at the subject matter,
00:44which Sudeikis and the entire writers room
00:48are so qualified to be writing, but particularly him,
00:52with his love of all women's sport
00:54and his support and advocacy for it,
00:57those two big things, I was like, it has to be a no-brainer.
01:01It just didn't cross my mind that we wouldn't, whenever that was.
01:04It could have been five years, you know?
01:06How does the change of the format of the show now that there's a women's team,
01:11how does that impact Rebecca and how she's thinking about things?
01:15I mean, there's not really, there's only a change in the format that you're getting inside the heads of female
01:21humans instead of male humans.
01:23There's not, I don't think, a vast amount of difference.
01:26We're just colliding with entirely fresh souls.
01:31That's the only way I see it.
01:33The fact that we get to highlight that women's sports are balefully underfunded and under thought about,
01:39that's the main difference.
01:42Do you remember the moment that you got the call or that you heard that you would be coming back
01:46for another season?
01:47We'd all kind of slightly heard the rumblings of it, and then, of course, our WhatsApp group goes nuts.
01:56And it was kind of weird at first that half of our WhatsApp group was the guys just going,
02:03great, well done, guys, it's brilliant, keep the fires burning, keep the torch lit.
02:09And then, of course, it took a while for us to meet all these fabulous women.
02:12How do you welcome in the fresh blood?
02:14Well, myself and Juno, when we all went to a pub, which we did in the first place with the
02:20men's team,
02:21so we all just kind of rinsed and repeated, Juno and I made a point of saying to them,
02:25please don't think for a second that because we've been at it longer that we know what we're doing
02:32or that we don't feel like imposters still.
02:35I think it's good to have a healthy proportion of you that still thinks, can I do this?
02:42And so Juno and I very much wanted to convey that to our new cast members,
02:47that we are feeling something different in that we hope that we're able to continue it.
02:53We hope that we're still any good at playing the roles.
02:56You know, so we had our own things that we were worried about.
02:59Yeah, I mean, a big theme of the show and especially this season is being pushed out of your comfort
03:03zone.
03:03And I wondered if this season in particular pushed you out of your comfort zone at all as an actor.
03:09The only thing that, I mean, it didn't push me out of my comfort zone,
03:12but the only thing that I thought, ooh, that's a weird one to play,
03:16is that Rebecca discovers that she's not quite the feminist she thought she was, whereas I very much am.
03:21So I was just trying to get my head around playing that, which was a funny one for me.
03:29I was a bit like, I just can't imagine a woman not advocating first for their own sex.
03:37And what about her love of barbecue? Do you share that?
03:40I so deeply share the love of barbecue. I mean, I would literally have that sauce.
03:46I mean, there are other outlets, but from Gates's in Kansas City,
03:49I would literally spread that on the bottom of a shoe.
