00:11least 30% of active rideshare drivers, according to the New York Post. The threshold allows the
00:15union to move toward certification as the exclusive bargaining representative under
00:19a 2025 state law that created collective bargaining rights for app-based drivers.
00:24California has roughly 350,000 active rideshare drivers, according to labor estimates.
00:29The union expects pay, benefits, app deactivation, and working conditions to be major bargaining
00:34issues. The law followed more than a decade of organizing by rideshare drivers and SEIU,
00:39which backed CGWU and helped drivers collect union authorization cards through multilingual
00:44outreach. Certification is expected after a 30-day waiting period.
