00:02A federal lawsuit accuses the Trump administration of violating the First Amendment by selling
00:06advanced access to Trump's truth social posts before they become public, according to ABC News.
00:12The lawsuit, filed by the Freedom of the Press Foundation and The Intercept on Wednesday,
00:16alleges that allowing paying customers early access to truth social posts before they become
00:21public is a violation of the First Amendment. It targets Truth API, a service announced last
00:26month by Trump Media and Technology Group that offers advanced access to posts from Trump and
00:30other officials for up to $100,000 per month. The complaint argues Trump is profiting from
00:35official government information through his 41% stake in the company. The Justice Department
00:40has separately argued that Trump's social media posts constitute official presidential statements.
00:45The White House did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for comment.
