Tukaram Mundhe was appointed as the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Authority of Maharashtra in May 2026 and since then the FDA carried out 1,131 inspections, seized food stock worth almost Rs. 50 crore, suspended the licences of 56 restaurants, including several well-known eateries like the Shalimar Hotel and K. Rustom Ice Cream Parlour.
