00:02So, in what seems to be a sign of bird flu cases really increasing across Australia,
00:08the Federal Agriculture Department has said that it's no longer going to give daily updates
00:14of individual detections of bird flu in individual birds.
00:18It's going to notify the public about events, mortality events in birds, and it's going
00:25to be doing targeted testing of birds within locations and species where mortality events
00:32are occurring.
00:33So far in Australia, only wild birds have been detected with bird flu, no poultry or birds
00:40in captivity yet, and it's also important to mention that the risk to human health remains
00:46very low.
00:47Now, here in Victoria, I'm standing at Melbourne Showgrounds where the show is due to start
00:53next month, but organisers have decided that the poultry exhibition and competition will
00:59not go ahead.
01:00Here's what we heard earlier from the show's general manager.
01:03I think the decision is very disappointing.
01:06However, we weren't willing to take any chances with our poultry exhibitors and we really wanted
01:11to give them absolute certainty as we plan to launch the show next week.
01:15So whilst it's very much a precautionary measure, it is one that we thought was important to
01:19make at this point in time.
01:20Also, another interesting response being taken here in Victoria is that the government is
01:26going to roll out what is believed to be the world's largest wildlife vaccination program.
01:31It's going to give two jabs each to about 5,000 little penguins on Phillip Island.
01:39The population of little penguins there is about 40,000 and authorities have said this isn't
01:44a silver bullet and worst case scenario modelling shows that in an outbreak lasting about six
01:50weeks, up to 16,000 of them could be wiped out.
01:54But it's what authorities can do to try and protect that species.
01:59can be taken in part of it.
01:59So this is a photo of families, so this is far from an ill Shortitude Community Guide to
02:03the Medusa Review.
02:03Which is the overwhelming figure of the extradition?
