00:11about her older brother Presley Gerber's decades-long struggle with drug addiction.
00:15When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone, Kaya explained.
00:20She said the experience also influenced how she saw herself within her family,
00:24leading her to self-identify as the easy one and avoid asking for help.
00:28Kaya said she felt like it was too much for her parents to have two children who were needing help.
00:33Her famous parents, supermodel Cindy Crawford and Casamigos co-founder Randy Gerber,
00:38have kept their family life very, very private and did not share details about Presley's struggles publicly.
00:44But Kaya said she's proud of the way her brother has chosen to face his problems openly.
00:48We have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says,
00:51I'm going to be very human for everyone, she told Vogue.
00:54Kaya added that there's only so much you can hide from the world
00:57and that trying to hide a problem can make someone feel like their family is ashamed of them.
01:01Presley, now 27, has made headlines for his substance abuse and mental health struggles since 2019.
01:08At 19, he was arrested for DUI after being pulled over for speeding in Beverly Hills.
01:13He later pleaded no contest and was sentenced to probation, community service, and a DUI program.
01:18In 2024, Presley revealed that he had battled a severe, multi-year opiate addiction
01:23and suffered a near-fatal fentanyl overdose that left him in a coma for several days.
01:28He later opened up about prescription medication dependency
01:31and said he had seen more than 15 different psychiatrists
01:34before finding a more structured path toward recovery.
01:37Kaya also used her Vogue cover story to get candid about her own struggles,
01:41revealing that she had dealt with disordered eating in her life.
01:44The actress said comments about her appearance don't necessarily help someone struggling with an eating disorder.

01:50You look terrible, and it doesn't exactly make you go,
01:52Oh good, let me get over this mental illness then.
01:55She said,
01:56Negativity has never saved someone's life.
01:58Kaya also addressed the pressure surrounding body image in Hollywood, saying,
02:02We're clearly in one of those cycles right now where people are very, very, very thin.
02:06She explained that as someone who has been thin most of her life,
02:09she has often been compared to her supermodel mother.
02:12Like, what's wrong with Kaya, she recalled.
02:14Kaya also admitted she's so jealous of her mom's body
02:17and said she would have loved to have been born with boobs and a butt.
02:21She said people have always commented on her body,
02:23which can be difficult because she isn't ready to comment on her own body.
02:26Despite those comparisons, Kaya said it's an honor to be told she looks like Cindy,
02:31calling her mother the most beautiful woman inside and out.
02:33Kaya has been modeling since she was 10 years old
02:36and has also been open about the advantages that came with being the daughter
02:39of two people in the entertainment industry.
02:41She said she is grateful that she can turn to both of her parents for career advice,
02:45calling it very rare to have parents in the same industry whose advice you can actually trust.
