00:02Ladies and gentlemen, let's welcome to the Walk of Faith, Ashanti!
00:30You know, a thing to navigate and become what you've become in this industry.
00:37And I just want to say, I'm proud of you. I love you.
00:42Give me another hand.
00:48We've been through so many dark moments, so to be here today,
00:53celebrating life together as a family and as a unit, I'm just so grateful.
00:59Oh my God, I'm not a crier!
01:00Here, hold on.
01:03Okay.
01:05My mom's first trip to LA, she walked on this very block and went into one of the souvenir stores
01:11back when I was actually mixing my album Ashanti right here in LA.
01:15It was her first time and she went in and bought one of the little fake Hollywood stars from the
01:22souvenir place.
01:24And she got my name put on the star and she came back and she was like, you're going to
01:30get one of these one day.
01:31You're going to get one of these stars one day.
01:34So she had this for over 20 years from the first trip to LA when I was recording my album.
01:42And I'm like, ma, I don't think we're going to get one of those.
01:45And I got to say, this is proof to everyone out there that dreams really do come true.
01:50It seems like yesterday I was getting picked up in a car service from high school, writing songs in the
01:54back of the car, going to the studio to record.
01:57And this has been an incredible, incredible ride.
02:00Now over at night, I'm walked on with my mom for a long while in the city hall outside.
02:01class ups and listen up at Marshall Park.
