01:10:46on this practice Friday at

01:10:59Betsecki has got to see this weekend as a

01:11:05hell that he's been through
01:11:06over those races, not scoring a single
01:11:08Sunday point, if he can come
01:11:10back and dare I say it, win this
01:11:12weekend or even be on the podium, he can
01:11:14put those demons well and truly
01:11:16into the past, Dijan Antonio
01:11:18is the leading Ducati as we've seen him
01:11:20be for a lot of this season in
01:11:22Furnace in third place, but it's
01:11:24all Aprilia on day one in Silverstone
01:11:27and what a day one it has been here at the British Grand Prix, what a way it has been
01:11:33to return from the summer break, a record-breaking start to the Grand Prix of Great Britain, so many great
01:11:41performances in that session, none more so than Marco Betsecki, absolutely sensational, over three tenths clear of Ralph Fernandes with
01:11:51a 156.280
01:11:54just looking at the timing screen, eight riders, Betsecki, Fernandes, Digia, Martina Gura, the Marquez brothers and Juan Mir all
01:12:03inside, Fabio Quattarao's 2025 all-time that record, amongst those great performances in that session were Mir in eighth, Jack
01:12:12Miller in ninth, they both go through on the Honda and Yamaha respectively, directly into Q2, Pedro Acosta, well he'll
01:12:19be breathing a big sigh of relief, because despite two crashes on day one,
01:12:22the second of which came late on in that session at turn four, he does still scrape into Q2, but
01:12:29what a way, Madagipi, have we missed you in that summer break, I mean it just takes your breath away,
01:12:38almost speechless to describe that lap from Betsecki, when you factor in everything that he's had to contend with, since
01:12:46the ultimate high of winning his home Grand Prix in Mugello,
01:12:49and then the roller coaster, the downward spiral he's been on thereafter, to return from those controversial moments, to return
01:13:00from painful big crashes, and deliver an all-time lap record, which is the second inside of last year's,
01:13:07Marco Betsecki has shown that there's nothing wrong with his mental strength right now,
01:13:12Yeah, that will fix the bruise on his knee and collarbone, you can see the front end, chattering like crazy
01:13:16there, for Pedro Acosta, that front end was gone,
01:13:19fortunately though for Pedro Acosta, his Q2 place was not, it was Bastianini on the Tech 3 KT, and then
01:13:26came closest to knocking him out, came short,
01:13:28by a couple of tenths of a second, Acosta hanging on in P-10.
01:13:31We've never seen a single 1.56 prior to this edition of the British Grand Prix, we saw at the
01:13:40end of that mesmerising practice session, five riders in the 56s,
01:13:46this means so, so much to Marco Betsecki, we saw didn't we, about halfway through that session, when he was
01:13:52coming into pit lane, he was dangling the left leg, he was dangling the left arm,
01:13:56both through recent surgery, but that just shows the class of the rider, the class of the man, the class
01:14:05of the character, the toughness of the character as well,
01:14:08to bounce back from all he's been through, mentally and physically draining experience over the last couple of months or
01:14:16so,
01:14:17with Marco Betsecki, well there's been so many question marks, how would he return from the summer break,
01:14:23how would he be mentally, could he get himself immediately back in focus, back in the game for this world
01:14:29championship,
01:14:30well, I think he's answered many of those questions in emphatic fashion, a 1.56.280, I'll repeat that,
01:14:39a modern GP lap around Silverstone, a 1.56.280, unbelievable.
01:14:46They do superhuman things, but they are human beings, and Marco Betsecki showing it there, with how spent he is
01:14:54physically,
01:14:55and I dare say to a certain extent, emotionally as well, this is just Friday, but from Marco Betsecki's point
01:15:01of view,
01:15:01we heard Paolo Benora saying this morning, and we said it back at the Saturn, didn't he, that the Marco
01:15:05Betsecki,
01:15:06he's still the same guy that he was, who dominated the first four or five races or so, of the
01:15:11season,
01:15:12and at least for today, that Betsecki is back.
01:15:15And your title contenders, Betsecki, Fernandes, Digia, Martín Agoura, and Marc Marquez,
01:15:22that is your top six, at the end of day one here on Friday,
01:15:26Pedro Acosta in the mix, still in the championship, well he crept into the Q2 in 10th place,
01:15:32another trying day for Bagnaia, a 157.691 from the Italian, certainly not helped by a late crash at turn
01:15:40six,
01:15:41the trail break into Brooklands, Bagnaia's going to have to go through Q1 tomorrow,
01:15:46he's going to be back on the podium here at Silverstone, which he's been a frequent visitor to in the
01:15:50past,
01:15:51well, he's going to do it the hard way, doing it the hard way on Friday,
01:15:54certainly has been the case of Pedro Acosta, a turn 15 crash this morning,
01:15:59a turn four crash this afternoon, he just checks out his left hand,
01:16:03just to make sure that everything's okay, top it on to that left side of the course
01:16:06with the second of those two spills at turn four.
01:16:10Well, thankfully, for his sake, and for the factory KTM's team's sake,
01:16:13it did not damage his prospects of a place in Q2,
01:16:17but every time you fall from on a GP bike, it does damage your confidence,
01:16:21it does just eat away at that confidence,
01:16:25which will be the case as well for Bagnaia,
01:16:27who's got plenty to ponder,
01:16:31a bit of strappy you can still see there on the right,
01:16:33or the lower right arm, the lower wrist part of the arm for Bagnaia,
01:16:38that all the legacy of the surgical intervention in the summer break
01:16:42to rid himself of some surprise arm pump issues,
01:16:46this is where we lost Pecco's Q2 charge late on.
01:16:49And it's the fifth time this year now that Bagnaia has gone through a qualifying one,
01:16:54and that crash at Brooklyn's certainly playing a part in that,
01:16:58he had actually said his personal best first sector moments before he crashed.
01:17:02But Bagnaia are to go through Q1 tomorrow in his Q1 record so far this season,
01:17:07well, he's only gone through on one of the previous four occasions.
01:17:12Yeah, it's a big ask for him to get through.
01:17:15But Marco Betzecchi,
01:17:18well, he has faced a barrage of questions about his championship hopes crumbling pre-summer break,
01:17:23but he's come back in emphatic fashion,
01:17:25with all time that record to lead a mesmerizing practice.
01:17:29Aprilia's first, second, fourth and fifth there on day one,
01:17:32Betzecchi and Fernandes first and second,
01:17:34Dijan Antonio splitting them from Martín Anagura.
01:17:38Marc Marquez, sixth, ahead of Alex Marquez in seventh.
01:17:42They were split in the end by 17,000.
01:17:43Dwanmere, eighth.
01:17:44Jack Miller for Premack Yamaha, ninth,
01:17:47and the final place in Q2 just going to Acosta despite his late spill.
01:17:51Bastion, the 11th, for Marini.
01:17:52Bagnaia after his fall, 13th.
01:17:54Morbidelli, 14th, ahead of Marrera.
01:17:56Lecuona, a fine, 16th.
01:17:58He did a 57-7 today to beat Quattuaro.

01:18:39The jaw-dropping lap time, that front bears.
01:18:42A lot of 58s, in particular, on race trim as well.
01:18:45So he's got the one-lap pace.
01:18:46Looks like he's pretty strong in race trim as well,
01:18:49going into the 10-lap sprint tomorrow.
01:18:51Has he got the physical endurance?
01:18:53That might be the big question.
01:18:54Ralph Fernandes certainly looked good throughout the day.
01:18:56Plenty of 57s for Fernandes as he was putting plenty of laps
01:18:59on a hard front tyre.
01:19:01Switched to the soft slate on and got himself down to a 56.6,
01:19:04which looked to take top spot until Betz stepped in.
01:19:06Gate crashing the Aprilia party, denying the Noali factory.
01:19:09A lockout of the top four was Fabio de Gianantonio,
01:19:13a title contender himself.
01:19:14He did his best work right at the death,
01:19:16right at the end of that fourth run.
01:19:18He, too, a one of five riders that found laps in the 156s.
01:19:24At one point, Jorge Martin was down in 17th place,
01:19:27but he lifted himself up in the end to fourth,
01:19:29having a look at both the soft and medium rear tyres this afternoon.
01:19:33Required the soft, though, to secure a place in the top 10
01:19:36on the 156.7.
01:19:38Betzeki destroyed the field by over 3 tenths of a second
01:19:40with that brilliant 56.280.
01:19:42Where did the damage come?
01:19:44Well, he was strong in the first sec,
01:19:45for no surprise there.
01:19:46Just ahead of Fernandes and De Gianantonio.
01:19:49Just ahead of De Gianantonio in sector two by a mere 4,000.
01:19:52Oh, a prettier lockout of the third sector, Fernandes.
01:19:56Look how close it was.
