00:00budgetâtees coordinate the basketball
00:01peer-to-back contact sports might run
00:04понятно and it's a game of chicken
00:05is going to quit first
00:08what it was to see he'dながら
00:10about that that's one of the
00:13message
00:16to second difference between the
00:17game and shot clock
00:20Brian Howard waiting
00:22at the top of the key
00:24gives the offense going with him
00:26left on the shot clock
00:32Джейси, работая на базу,
00:33pulls it up from the biddy.
00:35И Диана Бонаре застрелил.
00:38Анжелико Суфран.
00:40Джордан got hit on the elbow,
00:42so two free throws on the way.
00:434.5 left on the game clock.
00:47Бонаре застрелившись about it,
00:48wants her coaches to challenge the call
00:52as we take another look.
00:53And I think it was her hands
00:55caught in the cookie jar
00:57when Jordan-Canada had it corralled
00:59near her chest, near the number.
01:00There was a hand in the cookie jar
01:01right there, and I think that's
01:02where the foul got called.
01:05Джейси connects on the first.
01:23I got it, I got it.
01:24Cleans it on both, extends the lead.
01:2854 to 47, 2.9 left.
01:31AT, full speed ahead, got it off.
01:34You can count the bucket.
01:35They'll review it.
01:38My goodness, how she covered so much ground.
01:42Just the wherewithal to know what's going on
01:45on the floor.
01:46Look at Alyssa Thomas stretch this out.
01:48Her eyes are all on the shot clock
01:50and at the rim at the same time.
01:52And that is close.
01:54Looked like it just...
01:57Looks like it's still in her hands as it's...
02:00As the shot clock, or the game clock rather,
02:02is hitting the zero.
02:04Already sitting at 8 and we're just through halftime.
02:06What concerns me though with Phoenix
02:08are the 11 of four teams in the free throw line.
02:10Atlanta has three players in the front court
02:13who've got foul trouble.
02:15Either two or three fouls are going to have to watch that
02:17in the second half.
02:19As we get things rolling,
02:22Kelsey Plum, one of the newest additions
02:24in her second game at Phoenix.
02:26After spending 12 games this season with L.A.
02:33Rochon finds Plum again.
02:34Eight on the shot clock.
02:35Gray with the assignment.
02:38As Plum pulls up, lefty on lefty action.
02:42You better believe Plum is going to try
02:43and get herself going.
02:45She was the second-leading scorer in that first half,
02:47and that's her 13th point.
02:52Does not miss a field goal in this ball game.
02:55I already mentioned the debut with Phoenix.
02:5820 points in 20 minutes as Jordan Canada
03:02just short of dropping in the layup.
03:05A lot of contact on that play.
03:09Kalia Copper, no.
03:11Dawana Bonner put-back.
03:13Nothing there.
03:14Bonner trying to tip it because she knows
03:16just how good Atlanta is when it comes to rebounding the Rocks.
03:27Alicia Gray talked about how they had to bounce back,
03:30what deficiency that they needed to see
03:32after that Vegas game with Bonham Johnson at halftime.
03:42Jordan Canada helped on the drive.
03:47A rare miss, and actually the first miss for Kelsey Plum tonight.
03:51And I'm also surprised that she was left wide open.
03:54A little bit of a miscommunication at the top right there.
03:56Here's Jordan Canada came to help in.
03:58Angel Reese on the drive.
04:00Is that man on the board first in the third quarter?
04:04And Reese the third double figure scorer right now for Atlanta with 10.
04:17Cooper off the bounce, going against Gray.
04:21Found the space and gets it underneath as Kalia Copper with the layup.
04:28And that's what you're supposed to do when you've got an Angel Reese,
04:31your center or your fore player on you.
04:34And Ryan Howard has not cooled off.
04:37That's a great reminder of who she is,
04:39that she's knocked down her fourth triple of the night.
04:42She now has 18 points and a foul at the top of the key.
04:46That's going to go against Jordan Canada.
04:48Jordan right now, it is going to be her second foul as we send it to Autumn.
04:53Well, I caught up with Latoya Sanders, the assistant coach for the Dream,
04:57and the halftime discussion in the locker room was centered around energy,
05:00specifically on the defensive end, calling for more steals, more deflections,
05:04making the Mercury uncomfortable.
05:06And when I was listening to the huddles in the first half,
05:08it's also been about improving ball screen defense and flips to the basket.
05:12Coach Sanders added, I thought we did okay on the defensive end in the first half,
05:16but now it's time to turn it up a notch.
05:21We're going to see if they can grow in both departments in the second half.
05:24Now Tillman left alone, lines it up, back iron.
05:31A.T. coming for the screen against Plum.
05:36Plum keeping her dribble, going left.
05:40Gray affects that shot, off the mark, up the floor.
05:43Angel Reese collects from Alyssa Gray, the layup is good.
05:46The pace is there for Atlanta.
05:49You had the half block by Alyssa Gray that affected that tip,
05:53and then they got it out to Angel Reese and took advantage of the numbers.
06:01The help by Nas Hillman, the spin by A.T. in and out as Hillman collects the rebound.
06:07Reese did a nice job of moving her feet on Alyssa Thomas.
06:09She's taking on the challenge of defending.
06:12Ryan Howard, the pull up, bounced just off the left.
06:19You can see the communication with Jordan Canada and Ryan Howard,
06:22making sure they have Kalia Copper covered.
06:29Roshan in and out.
06:33It feels like this game has been nonstop so far in the third quarter with the pace.
06:37Both teams like to run.
06:40Seven fast break points for Atlanta.
06:43Very similar to the first quarter.
06:45It was just constant back and forth.
06:48Oh.
06:49Block called by Gray.
06:50Tried to see if she could get out front.
06:51Instead picks the foul up.
06:53That'll be her third.
06:55I thought Gray had a argument at an offensive foul because you can see
07:01and Brashant with the left arm extending and Gray go flying.
07:05Izzy, Izzy, Izzy.
07:06Fly, fly, fly.
07:08And Gray just takes a tumble and hits the deck.
07:13.
07:20Tilly Copper with the screen, the pop, nothing.
07:29Jordan Canada caught the entire defense sleeping and Nate Tibbetts says we need to
07:36discuss a few things defensively.
07:39She caught me sleeping as well.
07:41I thought she was going to pull it back out because she didn't have the numbers,
07:43but that look away got the defense to look away.
07:46Led up 12.
07:48First, sponsored by Maber Law.
07:50We fight you win, Maber Law.
07:53Atlanta back up double digits, 63 to 51.
07:56A timeout called after a bucket by Jordan Canada.
08:01You want to repeat what you said?
08:04I'm not.
08:05The moment's over.
08:06But the instinct of Jordan Canada to got that last layup for Atlanta right before the
08:11breaking calls, the timeout.
08:13It's a good look for Kalia Copper still tracking down the ball.
08:15They actually do get it back.
08:17Reset at 14.
08:19.
08:24Atlanta on a 7-0 run as Kalia Copper too strong on the shot.
08:30And they are now one for 11 from the field.
08:35Atlanta's doing a good job of limiting Phoenix to just one and done opportunities.
08:40They're getting almost every single rebound.
08:43.
08:44Nas Hillman not hesitating at all.
08:48Why would you when you hit 53 threes just a season ago?
08:52Nas Hillman, two of three so far in this one tonight.
08:57Excellent job by Alyssa Thomas to avoid the attempted charge by Jaylen Sherrod who was just waiting
09:03for her inside the lane.
09:05Bree Jones was asking for the ball underneath, continuing to be one of those frontcourt communicators.
09:12Time pass!
09:14Bree Jones!
09:16What's in the bag?
09:17That thang was P-E-R-F-E-C-T.
09:20I hope I spelled it right, but it was perfect.
09:23Georgia Tech degree on full display.
09:25Good job.
09:27.
09:28We're known for our math, not our spelling, but I think I spelled that one right.
09:30But man, what a dime from Bree Jones.
09:33Nas Hillman collecting on the inside, three on the shot clock, the run of honor still working.
09:39Gets it off in time, but no, they'll say a shot clock violation.
09:43Great defense by Nas Hillman.
09:47And a better pass right here from Bree Jones.
09:50Look how she just dropped that on a dime.
09:52She passed not one, not two.
09:54A couple defenders to get that one to Nas Hillman, and it was right on point.
09:58Don't you love the fact that post players that deliver to other post players understand
10:03what post players want?
10:05Yep.
10:05Ryan Howard gets fouled on the take.
10:08Rashawn will be called for the foul.
10:10She'll get two free throws.
10:11And you'll have those guards who'll put a zip dime in there and a straight chest pass,
10:16and you're trying to hold somebody else off, or they might give you a bounce pass when you
10:20want it up high and you're holding someone else off, so that's a good point, Angel.
10:24A post player knows what a post player likes and dropped it right on the dime for.
10:28Ryan Howard back at the free throw line.
10:32She's 18 points, a game leading 18.
10:35And she gets another free throw.
10:38Now, Salman will take a seat.
10:42And Angel Reese will come back in as well.
10:47Both teams are tied up for points in the paint.
10:50That's the area that Atlanta leads the league in, but Phoenix, for most of this game, has
10:54had their number in the paint, but Atlanta's slowly creeping up and being more aggressive
10:59inside of the painted area.
11:00Those free throws give Atlanta their biggest lead of the ball game.
11:06And by 17, the back door, AT sends it right back out to Sammy Wickham, and that is a duo
11:12that assists to one another more than any in the league.
11:16Sammy Wickham known for her killer instinct when it comes to the three-point shooting.
11:20I know they're glad to have her back from injury.
11:21The back door, as Jalen Sherrod still holding out her face after the take, they play on.
11:27Ryan Howard drains to three.
11:31They will not have a stop into play, so there will have to be a foul assess before they can
11:35check in on Jalen Sherrod at the other end.
11:37Kalia Copper, three, short.
11:39And this is where Angel Reese can probably hold for the ball.
11:42Actually, Carl Smesko seeing that Jalen Sherrod was able to bounce back up, avoids taking the timeout.
11:49Sherrod took an extra beat to get the contact back in.
11:52Uh-oh, she's taking a shot with or without it.
11:54She goes and down.
11:58And hands the contact to Carl Smesko.
12:02That's cold, Jalen.
12:03That's cold.
12:04K-Lot out there playing with one eye.
12:10Bullseye.
12:12Kalia Copper sends it to Sammy Wickham.
12:15Another three, and she drains it.
12:16You don't want to see her get hot.
12:18You don't.
12:18Sammy Wickham is known for her deadly three-point shooting.
12:21She leads all time in three-point makes off the bench in WNBA history.
12:32Sherrod gives it back.
12:34Bree Jones going at Natasha Mack.
12:36Just stop.
12:38Bree Jones off.
12:43The bench with seven.
12:48As Kalia Copper gets fouled on the pull-up.
12:53Yeah, Brian Howard got caught with her hand in the cookie jar.
12:56But look at Jalen Sherrod right here.
12:58She gets hit in the face from Melissa Thomas.
13:01You can see the swipe down.
13:02Takes an extra beat to try and get the contact back in.
13:06Doesn't get the contact back in, so she hands it to her head coach.
13:10Look at Carl Smesko's face.
13:12He'll take the contact every single time if Sherrod's going to knock down a three like that.
13:17From the baseline at it.
13:19Yeah.
13:20The fact that she was able to knock down the three,
13:26then give the contact to Carl Smesko.
13:28But she does go back to the locker room now as Kalia Copper knocked down two free throws.
13:35Brings them back to 15.
13:38I think that's a new drill that needs to be implemented in people's practices.
13:42One-eyed shooting.
13:43If you lose the contact, you've got to play on.
13:48Okay.
13:5390 seconds left in the third quarter.
13:5518 coming down.
13:56Full speed ahead.
13:58No call there.
13:5918 on the shot clock.
14:03IQ on top of IQ right there.
14:05Good offense, better defense from Nas Hillman.
14:07Didn't take the bait.
14:14Sammy Wickham gets freed up again.
14:16She's already knocked down the last two threes.
14:17For Phoenix.
14:19This time off the bounce.
14:20The dish to 18.
14:22Going against Angel Reese and gets fouled.
14:25Angel Reese now sitting with three fouls.
14:271.23 left on the game clock.
14:29I thought Reese did a good job of recovering,
14:32but it was just the hedging into Thomas.
14:34She could have stayed straight up,
14:36but instead she kind of went into Thomas and drew the bait.
14:48First one good for A.T., shooting 70% from the free throw line this season.
14:54Leads of the league this year in assists.
14:56We mentioned triple doubles, and you see her name, her face, her jersey, everything.
15:0221, now 22 regular season triple doubles.
15:09Crazy.
15:19Four lays looking for Angel on the block.
15:23Find the footing.
15:25The balance has looked so good in her game over the last eight or so.
15:31Yeah, you're absolutely right.
15:33She's gotten better right before our eyes,
15:35and I just love how far she got pushed out.
15:37Doesn't matter.
15:37She can create.
15:39Uh-oh.
15:39Sammy Wickham, three threes, points at the front row.
15:43They might want to stop chirping.
15:44I know.
15:45She can go.
15:45Me over there laughing.
15:46Stop chirping.
15:47We don't want her to go off in this building.
15:50That is not one you want to provoke.
15:55Less than 40 seconds in the third.
15:57Gray sends it to Jordan Canada in the corner.
16:00Building on it, Atlanta.
16:02Hot from outside, knocking down 13 threes.
16:05A sigh of relief from Jordan Canada.
16:07In that first half, she missed a couple,
16:09and it looked like her confidence was taken away on the three.
16:16Ayai was able to get it back.
16:18Sammy Wickham again in and out.
16:20Atlanta can hold for the first or the last shot, rather, in the third.
16:24Jordan Canada looking around.
16:25Half time.
16:26Eight on the game clock.
16:27That was knocked away from her.
16:29Six left on the clock.
16:33Atlanta has been really good with the blob.
16:36Blob baseline out of bounds.
16:38But they'll actually see who this goes off of.
16:41A couple of the Phoenix players telling Nate Tibbetts to review it,
16:44seeing who it went off.
16:46And they said it was off the foot of Jordan Canada.
16:50And it was a lot going on down there.
16:51It was a few defenders.
16:53Canada took on about three different black jerseys.
16:56And one of them got their hands in there.
16:59No doubt about that.
17:00However, we'll see the replay in a second.
17:04We'll see it right here.
17:05Who does it go off of?
17:06And they might have a point.
17:11This is under review.
17:12This is another look from it.
17:14It does look like it goes right off the right leg of Jordan Canada.
17:18We'll see what the officials deem this as here.
17:21Cruz, Angelica Suffern, and Jason Alabanza.
17:24Bay Farm.
17:25It's a different type of feel here at Gateway Center Arena, though.
17:28The intimacy we've been able to get.
17:32I mean, it's really cool to see Atlanta just show up,
17:34regardless of where it's going to be.
17:36Angel, we said this, or at least I said this at the beginning of the season,
17:40when Atlanta played Vegas at State Farm Arena.
17:42I said, Atlanta has real fans who are here for the dream,
17:47not transplants at all.
17:49Phoenix did win the challenge, got the ball back,
17:53but didn't get a shot off.
17:55So that will do it for the third quarter.
17:57But Atlanta in a nice advantage.
18:00Well, Atlanta's going to see a lot of green.
18:02That looks pretty, especially from the side angles.
18:06The depth perception in them corners is tough.
18:09That's an even tougher shot, but Atlanta has been on.
18:11They're shooting 54% from the three-point line,
18:15and that's been the biggest difference tonight in this one.
18:19And now bringing the ball up the floor.
18:26Thought about the three.
18:32Semesco wanting the execution to be there.
18:35Jordan Canada running in for the rebound.
18:38Gray with 11 on the shot clock, just short.
18:43What's interesting to me is Phoenix is really packing it in the paint right now.
18:47They all sunk in on that one,
18:49but the three-point shooting is what's hurting them in this game today.
18:56KT, for instance, Tasha Mack,
18:57Sammy Wickham, who's already had three, gets that deflected in the corner by Gray.
19:01Gray speeding up the floor, going at Plum, left side!
19:05Count the bucket!
19:07You couldn't draw up a better transition play that Carl Semesco would want from his team.
19:15Defense to offense is the name of the game.
19:17And right there, Wickham has been money from three.
19:19Alyssa Gray gets the block, and then she jets out, beats her defender,
19:24and the quarterback of the team in Ryan Howard, or one of them should I say,
19:27finds her in transition, and she completes the end one.
19:30Perfect play for this Atlanta franchise.
19:33Plum picks up her second.
19:38And a three-point completed play by Alyssa Gray.
19:52Also on the call is Nots Hillman, rather,
19:58will pick up her fourth.
20:02Atlanta's backcourt with a little bit of foul trouble.
20:05They've been doing a good job of holding it steady in that third quarter.
20:11Angel Reese with a high hedge, trying to switch back.
20:17Finds herself on AT, and gets the stop.
20:21Good job.
20:23Sorry Angel, I cut you off, but I was just going to say good job to the other Angel on
20:27the court for
20:27not taking the bait and fouling.
20:28And that's a turnover at the half court.
20:32Right now, it just says, yeah, you got me.
20:36They're playing more of the one, J.C. more at the two spot, coming up the floor.
20:40Ryan Howard, how about her with seven assists tonight.
20:4223 points and five rebounds.
20:50J.C. pulls up short.
20:53Angel Reese, the rebound queen.
21:00Actually will be called for a foul, which will be hurt for.
21:05So as you mentioned before, those fouls start to rack up for Atlanta.
21:12Clear out with the elbow.
21:13We're going to take another look at it, but down there in the post, you got to be.
21:17And I think that goes to what we were saying.
21:18It wasn't anything intentional that Reese did.
21:21It was just, it so happened to be Max facing that area of her elbow.
21:32So we play on.
21:33Here comes Plum.
21:37Plum with 13 points.
21:39Oh.
21:41Mack wasn't ready.
21:43Yeah, she wasn't ready.
21:44And I wasn't ready either.
21:45That was some nice pass.
21:46You think Kelsey Plum is going to shoot that inside the paint,
21:49but finds Mack at the last second.
21:50I mean, this is just her second game.
21:52She's getting to know her team a little bit better.
21:54Mack will be ready.
21:57Hit the foot of Kelsey Plum.
22:00A.T. trying to find her.
22:01Oh, streaking up the floor and a huge bear hug by Carl Smesko.
22:11Got to know each other fairly well on this take as Carl Smesko
22:15racked it.
22:16It was like a love story.
22:18Jumped in his arms.
22:18It was a good thing he lifts weights.
22:21A carry, Kelsey Plum.
22:25Nate Tibbetts shares a lap with Carl Smesko.
22:33The fight for the ball during Canada wins it.
22:36More movement.
22:37A lot of deflections.
22:38A lot of activity on both ends of the floor.
22:40Six on the shot clock.
22:42Nas Hillman sets the screen.
22:45Two to work with.
22:46Gray off the bounce.
22:47Step back.
22:48Three.
22:48Short.
22:50Alisa Gray got it back.
22:52Up and under.
22:54Woo, just the energy and the pace that Atlanta plays with.
22:57The relentlessness.
23:00Off it's a foul as Jordan Canada in the right place at the right time.
23:05Third foul against Cahlia Copper.
23:08Jordan Canada made it the right place at the right time.
23:10Look at how she just sizes up the defense.
23:13Gets her feet steady.
23:15And takes the contact.
23:17Defense one-on-one from one of the best defenders in the league.
23:20Excellent job by Jordan Canada drawing that charge.
23:23Ryan Howard with a game-leading 23 points.
23:26Now defended by Dawana Bonner.
23:29Atlanta trying to take advantage of Cahlia Copper falling.
23:32But there was a deflection at the top of the key.
23:35So a dream foul going against Bree Jones.
23:40Which will be her third.
23:42We've got Hillman and Reese both with four.
23:46And now Jones with her third.
23:50Meanwhile, you've got Okat who has not seen the floor so far in this game.
23:53The rookie for Atlanta.
23:56I think that the rotation that Carl Smeskel has on the floor right now,
24:00he wants to end the game with.
24:01So the front court just has to play a little bit smarter when it comes to controlling fouls.
24:05It comes down to Atlanta playing fast but steady.
24:10Being rushed up the floor as Kelsey Plum pulls up.
24:14No.
24:16Atlanta has done good on the sharing of the ball department.
24:2126 assists as Jordan Canada gets fouled on the tape.
24:25Canada is doing a nice job of getting past multiple defenders.
24:31On the first defender we had Kelsey Plum who met her.
24:34She reached for it and didn't get it.
24:35So Jordan Canada keeps the Jets on and attacks their second line of defense.
24:39And that's why she's seeing success in getting to the free throw line and baiting them into fouls.
24:43Right at Natasha Mack and picks up her second foul.
24:46Going back to Atlanta's offense, every single player has an assist tonight.
24:50Ryan Howard leading the way with seven.
24:53They have 26 assists on 30 made field goals.
24:57This is Jordan Canada.
25:00This is the first free throw for Atlanta tonight.
25:04Sometimes you don't know what adversity can bring to your team.
25:07Remember last season when Atlanta had injuries to Jordan Canada and Ryan Howard had to step in and play points.
25:14She had to get used to getting comfortable playing that point guard position.
25:17Now you come into this season and you can switch off between the two and throw the defense off.
25:26Managing minutes and we're in tier two for Carlos Mesco.
25:30In that department, Juana Bonner pulls up.
25:34Through the contact, she'll get two.
25:38Bonner taking advantage of Borlase who just came in the game.
25:42Has it been in the same game speed because she's just getting in
25:46and trying to match it to the players who've been in there for longer periods of time.
25:50And takes the bait on that one.
25:53So, Juana Bonner will step up to the free throw line for two.
25:56And if I may, just with Juana Bonner talking about in a docuseries that we saw the life of the
26:02W on E.
26:04Just how she said in her 17th season that this may be it.
26:08That there's a possibility that this could be the last time we see her suit up in a season.
26:14And you think about all the great things that she's been able to do in her career.
26:18She is the active leading all-time scorer in the WNBA right now.
26:22One of three players to have over 8,000 points.
26:27And she's just been really great.
26:29Has gone back to Phoenix after a couple of stops in Connecticut and
26:34Indiana as well.
26:36And goes back to where it pretty much started for her in her bloom with two championships.
26:41When you speak of championships, you think about winning.
26:43And she's also the all-time winningest player in all of WNBA history.
26:48Jordan Canada knocks down the three.
26:55Atlanta has held on to this lead.
27:01Shooting 50% from the field.
27:04All starters for Atlanta in double figures as a quick response by Brashant.
27:16Yep, beautiful.
27:18It's that patented look away by Jordan Canada.
27:21She doesn't have the numbers so she looks the other way to evade the defense.
27:26And then there goes Brie Jones moving without the basketball, diving to the rim.
27:29You know, there was her second when I saw her doing that, lulling them to sleep.
27:32I thought you were going to take that.
27:33I just don't want to take the job.
27:35I just don't want to do my part.
27:38The fourth assist for Jordan Canada in that last series gives her the all-time assist
27:44leader for Atlanta.
27:47Continues to build.
27:48What a career she has here in Atlanta.
27:54A.T. coming up the floor.
28:09A lot of attention going to Ryan Howard.
28:11That's not that a balance.
28:13It'll stay with the dream.
28:15With 11, actually, there's a little bit of confusion to see where it's going to go
28:19as we step aside.
28:23Jordan Canada with her.
28:25This move right here.
28:26You push her off the block, and you would think for a post player that's it,
28:29but not for Angel Reese.
28:30The face-up game has been excellent throughout this season,
28:36and she's shown her offensive prowess against different types of defenses
28:41that have allowed her to thrive inside of the paint.
28:44This crowd is on their feet celebrating Jordan Canada,
28:49who has moved into the all-time assist leader for the franchise.
28:54Well deserved, will earn Jordan Canada in this being one of the best seasons she's had
29:01in her career.
29:02Went on this game clock, shot clock rather, and Ryan Howard couldn't get it up in time.
29:08So it'll be a shot clock violation.
29:12Just one extra pass too much.
29:15She had Angel Reese who saved the possession from going out of bounds.
29:19And Alicia Gray was heavily guarded and couldn't get the shot off.
29:37I think Atlanta's done a good job of
29:41kind of taking the wind out of the sails of Phoenix.
29:45This was a game back and forth throughout three quarters,
29:47and I think Atlanta just put their foot on the pedal in this fourth quarter
29:50and just took the wind out of their sails, any hope.
29:52I think what also Alicia Gray was telling
29:57Autumn Johnson is Ryan Howard at the top of the key, short on the three.
30:01Alicia Gray tried to see if she could save it back and bounce, can't.
30:05Well, you can think about a team that was very upset with the display that they had
30:09on a large scale at State Farm Arena.
30:11Obviously with Barbie Knight, you want to have different things
30:13and the outcomes for that game, but more than anything,
30:15every single game is important.
30:18You look at the standings, there's a lot of movement that can take place
30:20between that four and eight spot.
30:22Phoenix right now in that 10 spot working, trying to find their way.
30:27And so you start thinking about how you control the controllables in Atlanta
30:31with a big response here tonight.
30:34They controlled their three-point shooting, which is hard to do.
30:37Every night's not going to be a good shooting night,
30:40but I think that between the shooting and the second chance efforts,
30:43the rebounding, they got it done.
30:46Off on the three.
30:52And the foul by Nas Hillman trying to slow down Kelsey Plum.
30:56That will be the fifth for Nas Hillman with 3.16 left in the ball game.
31:03And she's done a good job of spacing them out.
31:05I know she got three early in the first half and is just picking up her fifth in the fourth.
31:12So they'll step aside.
31:13We'll do the same.
31:14Free throws on the way after the break.
31:20And the Hawks as well,
31:22because this song has been out for almost two decades and has literally made a resurgence
31:27in arenas all around the country.
31:30And I am going to credit the Dream as well as the Hawks for continuing to play the swag surf
31:37every third and fourth quarter and make the resurgence that it has.
31:41Can I also add that these are friends that I grew up with creating this song.
31:46And I love, shout out to We Are Fly, Mook, Mike, and Vee that were just incredible friends
31:53growing up in the Stone Mountain area.
31:54And you just never know the stories of those in that metro Atlanta area that continue to give
31:58back to the city and the culture.
32:00And as you said, we see all the time at halftime, even here at Gateway Center Arena,
32:05it just feels like you get a two-for-one ticket.
32:06You get the game and you get a halftime show that you should be paying for.
32:10So such an amazing job that the Atlanta Dream has been able to do with putting so much together.
32:14And as you mentioned, building on the culture.
32:17Just the intimacy in this arena.
32:19The DJs.
32:20Just an excellent job all around by the Atlanta Dream franchise of just making it fun on and off court.
32:27Turnover at the top of the key for Jordan Canada.
32:30That's the 11th turnover for the Dream.
32:33Kalia Copper off the bounce, finding a hole in the defense,
32:37but couldn't get over the outstretched hands of Bree Jones.
32:40Angel looked like a guard right there bringing the ball up the floor.
32:44We've seen it a time or two this season.
32:46In and out.
32:46Ryan Howard, more direction for Angel Reese.
32:49So it's a go at Juana Bonner.
32:50The face up and poked away.
32:53Here comes A.T.
32:56And Kalia Copper rolls that one in.
32:59The off-foot layup.
33:00You got to be athletic to have the off-foot layup.
33:04And Ka Copper is just that.
33:05She's been kind of quiet in this one though.
33:07That was just her 14th point of the game.
33:09I want to make sure it is known and corrected too for Jordan Canada who gets the two at the
33:16rim as the most assists in a single season in this franchise.
33:22Has over 502 of them in three years, but a bout will be called against her, which will be her
33:30third.
33:32Here's what I'll say about Jordan Canada.
33:33At halftime, she had just two points.
33:36She was 0 for 4 from the field, 0 for 3 from 3, and those two points came at the
33:43free throw line.
33:44Since then, she's up to 13 points.
33:462 of 7 from 3 and 4 of 13 from the field.
33:49She's just really dialed in on the offensive end.
33:54I love that you said that.
33:55It does look like there's a sense of like locking in that you have to have as a champion.
33:59She's done it twice with Seattle.
34:01And if you think about the lock-in mentality,
34:03she's been able to learn from the likes of a Sue Bird and what it is to lead a team.
34:08But also credit what you said earlier.
34:10You brought the attention to Ryan Howard running the point guard position.
34:13Well, now you got Jordan Canada off the ball,
34:15and she can come off some screens and eat and find her offense.
34:18Angel Reese on the dive.
34:19It is a foul.
34:21Melissa Thomas does not agree.
34:24And quickly, Nate Tibbetts with the finger wave will say,
34:27we're going to challenge this one.
34:29They do have one available.
34:32And so both teams will go to their respective benches.
34:37Melissa Thomas had the Mutombo finger wave, but no, no, no.
34:41I didn't do it.
34:43She's pleading her case to her coach, Nate Tibbetts.
34:45And it's kind of hard not to listen to an AT.
34:48And I think that that foul will stand.
34:52I think this is a good look here.
34:54Oh, it doesn't look like she made contact from my view.
34:57Now, Jalen Sherrod has better vision with one eye than I with two.
35:03So it could be something.
35:07From what I saw, it looked like she got it from the top down.
35:09So it looked like there was ball.
35:11But from my LASIK eyes.
35:13Oh, boy.
35:14Now we're both in trouble.
35:15Because I did have LASIK.
35:16I don't know if I'm right, y'all.
35:18But I did have LASIK.
35:19It looked like she got some of the hand on top of the ball as well.
35:23But, you know, again, the referees, we say it all the time.
35:26Hard job.
35:26I don't want it.
35:28They got to make the tough goals.
35:30Yeah, absolutely.
35:30Well, they're still figuring out if this is going to stand.
35:34It's been a lot going on around the league.
35:36Hey, can we say welcome to the Cleveland Sirens?
35:38What an amazing rollout, the video they had.
35:41I thought it was like to a movie that was about to launch.
35:44An incredible logo, incredible launch.
35:47I mean, it's going to be exciting to see them in 2028.
35:51Whoever did the logo, whoever did the graphics, did an amazing job.
35:56I mean, just looking at this, it's beautiful.
35:59And a siren, what a mascot for a WNBA team.
36:04I mean, it has so much meaning behind it.
36:06Yes.
36:06I love it.
36:08A lot of teams on the horizon coming in for future teams.
36:13Three of them, one in Philly, coming as well.
36:20And so we're right now being told by the lead official, Tierra Cruz,
36:25what the challenge has been.
36:27And it is a successful challenge for Phoenix.
36:29Don't go to my LASIK doctor, y'all.
36:31Yeah, I didn't want to say anything.
36:35Well, AT knew in successful challenge, so they'll get the ball back.
36:39But they got a heavy load to fill if they want to come back down 14,
36:44which is under two minutes.
36:47They'll need more of that 12-point ball game.
36:52Less than two minutes to play.
36:54Atlanta has to manage these final two.
36:57A lot like a football game, a two-minute drill.
37:05It's in to work with.
37:10Jordan looking for space.
37:12Nothing there, and a late whistle on the take.
37:15Jordan Canada searching for either of them to blow the whistle,
37:20and one finally does.
37:22But you know what you get?
37:23You might have had a late whistle, and Jordan Canada doing what she's
37:26supposed to do, putting the pressure on the defense.
37:29But right there you had an Angel Reese who was going to get that
37:32offensive rebound either way.
37:34And that's just the confidence that I was talking about at the beginning
37:37of the game of giving those second-chance opportunities to Atlanta,
37:41where you can take that shot and know that your front court has you back down low.
37:48Kelsey Plum will take a seat as Lexi Held will check in.
37:53Lexi Held, the out of DePaul, actually returns to Phoenix after being selected by the Toronto
38:02Temple in the expansion draft.
38:08Coming off the bounce, right away off the bench.
38:14Angel Reese will say, I'll give the ball up to Jordan Canada.
38:18We've seen her play .4 before.
38:20Gray with a quick one on the wings.
38:26A couple of substitutions ready to check out the remaining players for Atlanta.
38:35Might see them more in a reset timeout.
38:41And as we're in the final minute, the fans are officially back on their feet.
38:47Atlanta at home can move to 11-5 on the season.
38:5319-11 with the win over Phoenix.
38:58Puts them 2-0 over them, playing Phoenix very close earlier in the season.
39:05And that was a tight win, 82-80, that they were able to walk away with.
39:11And Angel Reese, from what we've been able to see too now, picks up her, in that previous one,
39:18picked up her 10th rebound.
39:19So we'll check out.
39:20She has yet another double-double during Canada being fouled.
39:25Dream have five players in double figures.
39:27Bree Jones sitting at nine points.
39:30Just needed one more to have a sixth player in double figures.
39:34And this is the offensive showing that Carl Smeska wanted from his team.
39:39You already said it.
39:40They came in this game mad because of the performance they had a couple nights ago
39:44in front of their own home crowd at State Farm Arena.
39:47Yep.
39:49So Phoenix, who have won four of their last five games, meeting Atlanta.
39:54As you mentioned, playing upset.
39:59Jordan Canada still said, hey, I'm trying to check out a ball game.
40:04But Jordan Sherrod is over here hanging out with us.
40:21I think the starters, or the first two rotations, did an excellent job of just maintaining the
40:28distance in this game from Phoenix.
40:31Phoenix didn't go away, and they still haven't in this game.
40:33But up until the third quarter, it was single digits.
40:37Atlanta holding on to a lead where Alicia Gray at halftime said that we have to build.
40:43Continue to build.
40:44And they were able to do just that.
40:46Phoenix never led in this ball game.
40:48And Jordan Canada will take a seat in a streak that was ended for Atlanta against the Aces.
40:55A season-best five-game win streak came to a close, and the bounce back has looked pretty good.
41:01So six wins in their last seven will do it for this ball game.
41:11Phoenix will see Connecticut on Friday.
41:14And as we mentioned, Atlanta hitting the road against Washington.
41:17That will be on Ion as this is officially cooked.
41:21The line of honor for Phoenix will finish with a double-double.
41:24It just
41:24pops out in memory, Twin С. I'm
41:24fully motives, Loises, you get it easy to see him.
