00:00John Gruden, former NFL coach, won a Super Bowl.
00:05Actually coming back to broadcasting, I believe he is broadcasting
00:10the Tampa Bay Buccaneers preseason games.
00:14He says Jaden Daniels is poised to come back this season with a vengeance.
00:21Are you extremely confident that's going to happen?
00:25Somewhat confident or not confident at all?
00:26Give us a call at 1-800-636-1067.
00:29I voted somewhat confident.
00:32I told you my two reasons.
00:33Here are the statistics behind it.
00:35Last year, Jaden Daniels in seven games completed 60.6% of his passes.
00:41As a rookie, it was 69%, so significantly down.
00:46Last season, eight touchdowns to three picks.
00:49That's a fine ratio, but as a rookie at 25-9,
00:54his quarterback rating, the traditional quarterback rating,
00:57dropped from a 100% to an 88%.
01:00It's a big drop.
01:01His QBR dropped from a 67.7% to a 44.7%, so I can't go extremely confident.
01:08That and the injuries.
01:10Yep.
01:11So you're buying into what happened last year, and a lot of people are.
01:14I'm not buying in.
01:14I think that because of his work ethic and the type of player that we saw as a rookie,
01:18that if he stays healthy, he can come back to his form.
01:21But I can't say I don't have any doubt.
01:23I have a little doubt.
01:24And I mentioned the C.J. Stroud thing.
01:26Yeah.
01:26People were jocking C.J. Stroud after that first season.
01:29Nobody raves about C.J. Stroud anymore.
01:31No.
01:32There's a lot of question marks about him.
01:34He's kind of had two down years since.
01:36Yeah.
01:36Yeah.
01:37So he came in before J.D.
01:39Like if the Texans were completely sold on C.J. Stroud,
01:42he'd be sitting there with an extension in his hand at this point.
01:45He doesn't have that yet.
01:47Like they want to see more before they commit $55, $60 million a year to their quarterback.
01:52Right.
01:52Call me crazy.
01:53I can understand that.
01:54I just think that he's going to have a really good year because he's going to stay on the field
01:58and he's got really good players so he can throw the ball to.
02:02All right.
02:02Let's go to Juan.
02:03He's calling it from Fairfax.
02:05Juan, you're on with the junks.
02:06Good morning.
02:07Hey, how are you?
02:08Good morning, guys.
02:08How are you doing?
02:09What's up?
02:11I'm extremely confident.
02:12For one, because last year, you have to look at last year,
02:16Terry McLaurin didn't even practice.
02:18He wasn't even in training camp like that because he was hitting on a contract extension.
02:23That's for one.
02:24Two, you know, you also got to understand Terry never had nobody on his side to work with him like
02:30that.
02:31So, you know, you already know Jane Dales is going to tear it up.
02:34Then you got Chig at the tight end position.
02:37Then you have to understand, too, Jane Dales getting disrespected at the quarterback rankings
02:43and stuff like that.
02:44So, yes, he has a chip on his shoulder and he's going to come back.
02:47You have to look at the thing.
02:48You have to look at it from the outside point of where Jane Dales, where he's at and stuff like
02:53how he feels.
02:54Yes, he's going to come back with attention.
02:56I like what you're saying, Juan.
02:57So, you're all in.
02:58Juan's all in.
02:59You have no doubt.
03:00Hey, Juan, let me.
03:01Juan, I like it.
03:03You have no doubt.
03:04So, you're extremely confident.
03:05Let me just throw this out there.
03:07Jaden hasn't really played quarterback under center.
03:12In college and the pros, he's always been a shotgun guy.
03:16So, even though you haven't seen anything, you're extremely confident he flourishes in David Blau's system.
03:21Yes, and the man, I believe he's a quick learner.
03:24I believe he's a quick learner.
03:26Oh, he's definitely showing that.
03:27He shows.
03:28He shows he's a quick learner.
03:30So, yeah.
03:31Look how he adapted to the NFL.
03:33So, yes, he's a quick learner, so he's going to get it down pat.
03:36So, that's what I believe.
03:38I'm with you, Juan.
03:39I share your confidence.
03:40Thank you for the call.
03:41Appreciate it.
03:42800-636-1067 is the number.
03:45Are you extremely confident, like John Gruden, that Jaden is going to have a huge year three?
03:50Or are you somewhat confident?
03:52Or are you reluctant to go there at this point?
03:55800-636-1067.
03:58If you vote at Junk's Radio, somewhat confident is winning with extremely confident second, not confident 12%.
04:05So, people expect to bounce back, but most of the people aren't all in on that.
04:09They're a little hesitant.
04:10Yeah, I mean, I had injuries last year.
04:11Yeah, I can see it.
04:12I understand.
04:13Let's go to Jermaine in Bowie.
04:15Jermaine, you're on with the Junk's.
04:16Good morning.
04:18Good morning.
04:19I would say, I'm like Cakes.
04:22Before, I was somewhat confident.
04:25But after Stephon Diggs, I'm extremely confident.
04:28And I think last year, you know, a lot of those receivers, I don't think he had confidence in.
04:33If you watch a lot of those games, he pulled his, a lot of his passes, he pulled and he
04:38ran rather than throwing them like he would do in 2024.
04:42And he was off last year.
04:45His passes were high.
04:46They were behind receivers.
04:47So, I guess, yeah.
04:48But I just think this year, you know, and I watched that quarterback show.
04:52I just think he had a bad taste in his mouth about last year.
04:55Yeah.
04:56And I expect him to put the work in.
04:58Thank you, Jermaine, for the call.
04:59Wasn't he throwing to Chris Moore at one point?
05:01Yes.
05:01A lot.
05:03He threw, he threw to a reduced Terry McLaurin.
05:06Debo was leading the team in catches.
05:09An old limping Zach Ertz on his last legs.
05:13Like, this is a vastly improved offense.
05:15And I can't help but look at the numbers of Drake May and Josh Allen the year they got Stephon
05:23Diggs as part of their offense.
05:24Yeah, you went through those numbers yesterday.
05:26They took huge leaps with Stephon Diggs on the roster.
05:28Now, this is not the Stephon Diggs in his, you know, peak, in his prime, back in the Buffalo days.
05:34But he showed last year that he still has a lot of productive football left in him with his performance
05:41with New England.
05:42And Terry's, he's got Terry.
05:43Terry's healthy.
05:44Yeah.
05:44You have.
05:45It's not like Terry's 38.
05:46I mean, Terry's young.
05:48And it gives other roles to the younger guys that are developing.
05:54Like, you didn't want to force, you know, Luke to step into that role.
05:58Or Antonio Williams as a rookie to step into the Diggs role.
06:03Like, you have a proven pro-ball level player, borderline Hall of Famer, opposite Terry McLaurin now.
06:10Yeah.
06:11You should be confident in that.
06:12And I'm sure that helps Jaden's confidence and will as he develops a rapport with him and as they go
06:19through the next few weeks and head to the opener.
06:21Think about how much different this year on the field will be different than last year.
06:26Last year, McLaurin wasn't healthy.
06:28All right.
06:29So, you kind of scratch him.
06:30You had guys like Chris Moore that he was throwing to.
06:34Robbie Chosen.
06:35Robbie Chosen was on the field.
06:37Those guys were on the roster at one point.
06:39All right.
06:39Those guys were D-minus receivers.
06:43Now you've got McLaurin healthy.
06:45You've got Diggs.
06:46You bring in Chig.
06:48All right.
06:48So, in my opinion, an upgrade at tight end.
06:51Certainly more athletic tight end.
06:52There have been reports that the last two days of camp, Luke McCaffrey has been showing promising signs.
07:00Eckler was never healthy.
07:01You had Chris Rodriguez and you had Bill.
07:04Okay.
07:05But now you've got Rashad White.
07:06I just think it's just huge.
07:09The additions they made offensively.
07:11All right.
07:11Let's go to Sean.
07:12He's calling in from Columbia.
07:13Sean, you're all with the junks.
07:14Good morning.
07:16Hey, guys.
07:17Thanks for taking my call.
07:18Sure.
07:18Hey, real quick.
07:19Hey, Bish.
07:19You've been down to Oak Island lately?
07:21I was there about three weeks ago.
07:25Yeah.
07:26Yeah.
07:26I just came back.
07:28That place is unbelievable.
07:30You need to keep it undercover, though, before you get everybody down there.
07:33I think it's hard.
07:34I don't think you're doing a very good job of it, sir.
07:36You're broadcasting all over the place.
07:36Yeah, you're not helping.
07:37You're not helping.
07:38No, I know.
07:39I know.
07:39It's beautiful down there.
07:40Hey, I think that Jaden Daniels has got to learn to live another down because his greatest
07:47quality is his ability with his legs.
07:50But it's also the thing that's going to keep him in trouble because if they have a good defense
07:55and they're not leaning on him to keep them in games, he'll be fine.
08:00But if you get Gruden in there whispering that into his ear, he's his biggest problem.
08:06He doesn't know when to just let a play go and come back out.
08:09If they're contingent on him winning a lot of games this year by his arm and his legs,
08:14he's going to get hurt.
08:15It's just simply that.
08:17He's not big enough to withstand that kind of beating.
08:19Well, hopefully he learned from last year, so hopefully he changes his ways.
08:24Isn't that hard to do, though?
08:25I can see.
08:26I mean, like, if you've played a certain way your whole life, and he's been super athletically
08:33gifted his entire life, so when he probably started playing, you know, flag, he's out
08:39running everybody.
08:40And then he starts playing high school football.
08:43He's out running everybody.
08:44And then in college, more of the same, though he did get hit, one of the raps on him when
08:50they drafted him was that he took clown-like hits.
08:54Is that how it was described?
08:56I can't remember exactly how it was described, but they're like crash test dummy-type hits.
09:01And so I think it's hard.
09:03Like, your head may tell you, hey, I need to start going out of bounds more, sliding
09:08more.
09:08But in those moments as a competitor, when you've had these situations over and over
09:13and over again, and you've cut in versus running out, I don't know.
09:18I think it's going to be hard to change completely.
09:20Yeah, you might be right.
09:21And that's where some people are worried.
09:22That's where the play calling is going to affect it.
09:24I'm going to guess that Blau and everybody else on the offensive staff are drilling that
09:28into his head every single practice.
09:31Like, you think they're not telling him to preserve himself and try not to take huge hits?
09:35He's going to get outside the pocket and run.
09:37He's going to do that.
09:39That's a weapon.
09:40He's just going to have to get down quicker or get out of bounds quicker.
09:43He has to do it.
09:44If that becomes available to him, he has to take advantage of his skill set.
09:48Of course.
09:49If he doesn't, it's borderline negligent.
09:52I agree.
09:53And he will.
09:54You have to use that.
09:54He will.
09:54But you have to use it wisely.
09:56Now, he may not rush for 900 yards like he did in rookie year.
09:59And that's okay.
10:00But he could rush for 650.
10:02Yeah.
10:03And stay on the field.
10:04That's preferable.
10:05Yeah.
10:05If you rush for 650, 675, and you're not missing a dozen games, that's what the offense...
10:12And BT Dubs, Dan Quinn, wants him to rush for about 650.
10:16I'm sure he does.
10:18He might want him to rush for more.
10:19But they definitely...
10:20David Blau wants him to use his legs.
10:22He just needs to be careful.
10:23All right.
10:24Let's check in with Aiden from Silver Spring.
10:27Aiden, you're on with the Junk's.
10:28Good morning.
10:30Hey, Junkies.
10:30Congratulations on 30 years.
10:32That's awesome.
10:33Thanks, Aiden.
10:35I'm 24 years old.
10:36I've been listening to your show my entire life.
10:38I remember driving to school with my father in the morning.
10:40He would like to do that show.
10:41I'm a huge fan.
10:42But I think you guys were talking about David Blau earlier, forcing Jaden under center.
10:46I don't think...
10:47My book, Blau's entire job is to make Jaden succeed.
10:50So I don't think he would be forcing him under center if he didn't think he could, first
10:53of all.
10:54And I think this year is fully contingent on Jaden's ability to get down and slide.
10:59If he can get down, I think the sky's going for him like a first year in Washington.
11:04This might just be me being young.
11:05But I've never seen better weapons in Washington than we had this season.
11:09And I feel like Santana Moss, Piano Garcon.
11:12And I can't think of a year since then where we've had weapons as good as this year.
11:15EB loves the weapons.
11:16I think it's comparable.
11:17He'd be saying it right now if he was here.
11:19I think it's comparable to Moss and Garcon.
11:23Yeah.
11:23I mean, if...
11:24Maybe.
11:24If they give you production like Moss and Garcon gave you, you would love it.
11:29Didn't Garcon have well over 100 catches in one of his years?
11:32He had a big year.
11:32The first year with RG3?
11:33Big year.
11:34He had a massive year.
11:35Yeah.
11:36If you can get near those numbers, you're right.
11:38I mean, they're going to be scoring points.
11:40Yeah.
11:40I just think the overall balance is really, really good.
11:44People are sleeping on Chig.
11:46I know Kinks isn't.
11:47Not this guy.
11:48I just think he's going to be a massive part.
11:50I'm big on Chig and Diggs.
11:53Find another guy with Diggs as part of his last name and add him to the roster because
11:57I'll be big on that guy, too.
11:59I'll be over my skis on those guys.
12:03Let's go to Ari calling in from Largo.
12:05What's up, Ari?
12:06Hey.
12:07I'm calling in.
12:08I think the commander is going to have a great year.
12:11I think it's actually pretty ironic that the Texans, they started being terrible when
12:18they traded away their offensive line or got rid of their offensive line.
12:21We get Larry Thompson, and I think all the receivers for the Texans got injured, and I
12:27think that was the start of the downfall of C.J.
12:29Stroud.
12:30I think we got our offensive line better.
12:32We got Diggs, who happened to get injured for the Texans that year.
12:37I think he's healthy.
12:38He looks better.
12:39I think as long as you have a good offensive line and great receivers, Jaden's going to
12:46have a great year.
12:46He won't have the same downfall that C.J.
12:49Stroud has had since the Texans traded away everybody.
12:53I hope you're right.
12:54Thanks, Ari.
12:55Because I can tell you this.
12:572024 was a lot more fun doing a radio show than 2025 covering this team.
13:02Yeah, we need rookie level Jaden back.
13:05We need him back.
13:07It would be fantastic.
13:081-800-636-1067 is the number.
13:12You can also vote in our poll at Junk's Radio.
13:15Are you extremely confident that Jaden Daniels is coming back with a vengeance, which is what
13:21John Gruden said?
13:22Somewhat confident or not confident, you can vote at Junk's Radio.
13:25Be right back.
