00:19MVP, but if we're talking about having priorities straight, I think mine are pretty straight.
00:26It's not on the forefront of my mind. It's fun to joke about, and it's fun to acknowledge, and I
00:33think it's absolutely okay to pay attention to, but again, it's not like following me up to the plate.
00:43Yeah, I mean, I think if you guys want to talk about all this back and forth, I really should
00:48go get in the lab and start pitching. I really should.
00:52Man, I love that answer from our guy, PCA, and if you remember, two weeks ago, on Shine Time, I
01:00said to you that if I had to vote, I would vote for PCA for the NL MVP.
01:05And take a look at the new odds as we speak, waking up this morning, and DraftKings now lists Pete
01:14Crow Armstrong as the favorite for NL MVP as opposed to Shohei Ohtani.
01:21That is the first time this year in the betting markets that there's someone other than Shohei as the favorite.
01:29That includes the offseason, early season, and literally yesterday at this time.
01:36And Pete Crow Armstrong, to me, is absolutely the MVP.
01:40And understand, I'm a Shohei Ohtani apologist, right?
01:45From the historical perspective, greatest player I've ever seen, what Shohei Ohtani does on offense, and in the batter's box,
01:52and Ohtani's power, and Ohtani's speed, and Ohtani's pitching.
01:56Shohei Ohtani's not pitching!
01:58So as a result, you can now open it up and have a legit conversation in terms of who else
02:06should be in the mix when it comes to the MVP.
02:08And look, when we showed you those odds, there were some other great names.
02:12We talked about it earlier in the year when it was Shohei Ohtani, clearly number one, and Kyle Schwarber could
02:19be number two.
02:20But PCA has been absolutely sensational.
02:24And here's the thing about PCA, and I'm more of an old school baseball guy than I am new school
02:30with analytics.
02:32PCA is the dream for the eyeball test, the scouts, the old school baseball people, and the analytics community.
02:39He checks every box.
02:41He's number one when it comes to war.
02:44War.
02:44What is it good for?
02:46Well, it's good for stressing the argument on why PCA should, in fact, be at the top of the list
02:51for the MVP.
02:52You'll watch PCA play.
02:55He's phenomenal in the outfield for the Cubs.
02:59His offense is unbelievable.
03:01His power is sensational.
03:03He'll double you to death.
03:04His prowess and execution and speed on the bases, incredible.
03:09He's the best signature player, the straw that stirs the drink, on a Cubs team that's headed to the playoffs.
03:16And by any metric you want to throw at me, we're going to start talking about, you know, great offenses
03:22in baseball.
03:23We're talking about a top three, four, five offense in the game.
03:29And PCA is the best player on a juggernaut offense.
03:33And we're talking about a team, and this is a reference point at some point when the wheels stop spinning
03:39at the end of the season.
03:41We're talking about a team that just swept the L.A. Dodgers.
03:43The Chicago Cubs absolutely have a real shot here to go to the World Series.
03:49And remember, it's a regular season award.
03:52So I think when you start talking about Otani not pitching, defense, offense, the ability to run, everything that goes
04:00into the mix, achievement, overachievement.
04:03This is not Otani fatigue.
04:05Everyone knows I'm obsessed.
04:06If he was currently pitching and dominating, like he was in the beginning of the season, we're not having this
04:13conversation.
04:14But because there's a pause on Shohei taking his turn in the rotation, we're having it.
04:20And because PCA has been that great and that valuable, we're having it.
04:25Yesterday was just all sorts of fun, though.
04:27Otani hit a couple homers.
04:29PCA hit a couple homers.
04:31Takes this conversation that we started here on Shine Time to a fevered pitch.

04:58And listen, he also was quoted as saying, we talked about it on Sean Tom the other day, that Babe

05:02And the fact that there's an Otani tie in there.
