00:00The International Court of Justice has set the timetable for the Democratic Republic of Congo's case against Rwanda,
00:06marking the next stage in a legal dispute over decades of conflicts in eastern Congo.
00:12Kichasa filed a case on June 26, accusing Rwanda of violating four international conventions,
00:18including those on genocide, racial discrimination, discrimination against women and torture.
00:24The Democratic Republic of Congo has until October 4, 2027, to submit its written arguments,
00:31while Rwanda has until December 4, 2028, to respond.
00:36Congolese authorities say alleged violations date back to 1996
00:40and accuse Rwanda of supporting armed groups, including the M23 rebels,
00:46blame for killing, sexual violence and the illegal exploitation of natural resources.
00:52Rwanda denies backing the M23 and says its military actions were carried out of self-defense.
00:59If the timetable holds, oral hearings will begin in early 2029,
01:03with a ruling expected about six months later.
